Gunther & Co. Ratings and Reviews
I came here for my birthday. The server forgot to put in my food order. There were only two of us in my party so I’m not sure how that happened. If the food had been amazing I might have felt better, but it was just okay. A very beautiful space but a very disappointing birthday lunch.
Im glad we chose Gunther to celebrating a milestone birhtday. We were offered the private room upon confiration of reservation. Food and atmosphere were great. It was nice to have
the private room even though our party was small. Our server was OK she lacked enthuasisum and seemed to annoy quickly with us...I was a little disappointed that she stopped to ask if we were celebaring something special--at the end of the meal....it was clear that we were there for a birthday---it was also noted on the reservations. That brought the mood down a bit but not a big deal--probably a lack of communication between the hostess and server...Nothing to ruin the evening! Overall wonderful experience.
It was my graduation dinner so I had a larger party (8). The service was exceptional! The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. A few friends have allergies and he was able to recommend options for them to try. The food was excellent and the drinks were very tasty. The ambiance was such that you could also bring kids if you just wanted to stop in for a bite with the family. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Our 1st Time, this was definitely the first of many visits- it was All that we had heard/read & more; great Ambiance- service was on point, the food & cocktails Interesting!
We started we a few drinks off the Specials list: both were diverse & very tasty, then on to oysters and apps. The dinner of a Thai seafood hot pot & a vegan farrow dish were also delicious paired with a well priced bottle of the daily wine special, followed by a very good house-made Ginger creme brûlée.
See you Again soon; so many things we still wanted try~
Great space in the historic mill building. We met some friends for a birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. Very nice bar area as well as rear dining room. Cold this weekend but looks like there’s a nice outdoor patio space too.
We had the oyster tray and sampled a couple of each, delicious and reasonably priced. Try the fried Brussels sprouts, amazing.
Our friends had a burger which was excellent. I went for the Thai Hot Pot - like a curry with lots of fresh veggies and seafood, spicy for sure but very tasty. My wife had the scallops over a mushroom risotto which were also great and a generous portion.
Dark chocolate mint ice cream to close out the meal was also very good.
Very good service, definitely look forward to coming back when the weather is nicer on our next trip to Baltimore.
We had a group of 6. The service was excellent. Our waitress was great, very attentive. The food is pricey but really good. Everything was presented very well. Bathroom - one bathroom for all. None of us liked that. The place is great, we were there for 3 hours, on a Saturday night, still got water refills 30 minutes after coffee.
We had heard how good Gunther was, and had high hopes. The biggest disappointment came from the shrimp and pork potstickers, which had an overly fishy smell and taste. My husband is not one to every complain, but for these he did. The waiter gave us some odd explanation about the shell being on the shrimp when they cooked them, which contributed to the smell and flavor. Otherwise, my seafood hot pot was great and my husband's short rib was nothing special at all. We wouldn't go back.
Everything we ordered was spectacularly thought out by the chef. We had the great fortune of being sat where we could see the kitchen staff through a glass wall and they were all so efficient and professional, it was very cool to watch them at their craft. Our server was very knowledgeable and had tried most of the things on the menu, being able to fantastically explain anything we had questions about and make very detailed recommendations. We were excited to see there were no salt and pepper shakers on the tables and to see the “trust our chef, no changes or substitutions” note on the menu as we knew this meant we were in for a fantastic meal. Trust the chef, make friends with your server & definitely save room for dessert, the pastry chef knows what she’s doing too. Easily one of the best meals we’ve had this year. Top notch!
We've been to Gunthers several times and have enjoyed it. On the latest visit the food was good with a very good frozen iced coffee tart desert. One major complaint though. One of our companions asked to not add nuts to his salad. Another friend asked to hold the cheese on a chicken sandwich. We were promptly told by our server that no changes could be made because the chef composes these dishes and no changes are allowed. Really? Aren't nuts one of the biggest food allergies? Isn't the customer always right? It was very off putting . The placed is obviously successful as it was packed, but the arrogance of refusing to honor a customer' s reasonable request will surely doom a restaurant in the long run. Good luck with that business strategy
The food was very good, nice portions and presentation was very nice. The fries were a little salty. Over all, the food was very good and the atmosphere was delightful. Our server was very attentive. It was so nice to meet Caitlin at the front. Caitlin gave us a tour of the restaurant for our upcoming Christmas Party. Caitlin is a delight to work with.
The place was about 20% full and they refused to modify eggs from over easy to over hard. With as stringent as they tried to be, they still managed to forget toast for our child and leave the entire table with empty drinks for almost 10 minutes. Surely won’t be back
While my wife & I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, drinks, and food, it was unfortunate that I had to go to the hostess and remind her after more than 30min that we were waiting for our table. Once seated, our server Katie neglected us, not checking on us at all during our meal, even leaving us unattended for another 30min after I'd finished my meal. The bus staff visited twice to remove our dishes before Katie returned to our table to half heartedly offering us dessert.
