Gunther & Co.
Love eating here. It’s consistently great, the food, the cocktails, the service. Everything about it is on point every time we come.
Perfect outdoor weather last Saturday with great food and good friends. Service outstanding. Plenty of parking, unlike some in Canton.
Food was excellent. Started with sausage and shrimp appetizer with hummus and flatbread. Hanger Steak and Pork Chop were absolutely delicious, well seasoned, great portion. Chocolate pavé for dessert rounded up the perfect dining experience. Service was great. Attentive and made great suggestions
Fantastic place. Service was superb and the experience was so comfortable.
Food and service were actually very good, but we waited well over an hour from ordering to receiving our dinner. Only explanation was “the kitchen was slow tonight”. Unfortunately, this long of a wait adversely affected the dining experience.
Great food, great atmosphere, slow from the kitchen, tense servers because of it….food was worth the wait.
Top notch! Our waiter was very attentive- great presentation of the menu and special entrees. Checked on us many times and filled our water. Entrees all came out at the same time. Food was fresh and crafted with attention to detail. Lobster cooked to perfection - gently seasoned with butter. Frites were a bit salty but cooked to perfection. My fave place now in bmore!
We returned to Gunther & Co. for a birthday dinner after being impressed by our initial visits. As always, the atmosphere is nicely appointed and the servers friendly. The drinks were petite but spot-on. The Au fish app was well-seasoned but the chilled mushroom soup was a virtually inedible blend of heavy cream and bland mushrooms. My partner asked if she could order the fish special done medium and the server responded with a gratuitous lecture about the chef's pretensions and called her preference for fish cooked medium "unappetizing." Another question about whether the Thai hot pot could be made without the mussels prompted lecture #2. (Apparently, the chef's propensity for attention to detail didn't apply to the soup!) After my girlfriend politely ordered the dish anyway and said she would simply eat around the shellfish, the server brought her a dish for the shells---obliviously failing to register our general displeasure or the uneaten soup. By that time we couldn't wait to leave. Our entrees were good, but not great. The server did bring a birthday dessert on the house, which we appreciated. But this was a disappointment overall. Baltimore has so few restaurants that merit a trip for a special occasion, so it is truly unfortunate when a relatively new place like this underperforms with respect to the cuisine and gives condescending customer service--however unintentional it may have been. If the chef has a policy, fine. Just say that and move on. But at $200+ for 2 people, I am not paying for a lecture from someone who knows far less about gastronomy than I, nor do I expect to have to eat somewhere else shortly afterward because too much of the food was...what is the new pejorative word we learned?...oh yes, 'unappetizing.' It would be great if G&Co. could be a reliable destination for business dinners and celebrations for when the trek to DC is impractical. Here's hoping this was an isolated downturn in an otherwise upward trajectory.
We had an amazing experience (as always) at Gunther. Our server, Demetria, was knowledgeable, attentive, and picked up on the fact that it was a special occasion for us and presented us with a nice surprise at the end of our meal!! We were so grateful.
Oh- and the food. Beyond drool worthy! The beef tartare and wood fired airline chicken are fantastic and the fries are salty malty deliciousness. No bad things to say about this place!!
We love this place! What a unique use of an historical City space! Food is delectable, service is first class and the outdoor patio is a plus!!!
Come here quite often before theatre events, they are always mindful of our time but service is still superb!
Fighting the traffic into Canton during rush hour but worth it. Interesting and mostly good food. Pricey. Attractive repurposing of the brewery site.
We had a party of 3. To start with, we had a flat bread with an assortment of greens and a green sauce. We also had a chimichuri waygu steak and roasted oysters. We paired that with a Russian River, Sonoma County Chardonnay and everything was delicious. Savanna was our server and she did a great job on describing the dishes and informing us on the menu, plus her outgoing personality made the experience that much better. For my main course I had shrimp and peas over pasta in a cream sauce. The shrimp were huge but tender and the dish tasted great. The other two in my party: one had a chicken dish which was spicy but very tasty and the other had a curry seafood bowl that contained mussels, clams, octopus and rice noodles. All was excellent. For dessert we had an orange creamsicle ice cream over a butter cookie topped with a torched marange. The food, the service and the drinks were outstanding. They had freash seafood and unique flavors.
We recently enjoyed a delightful Saturday brunch at Gunther and Co. The ambiance is marvelous! An architectural gem with a huge living wall, towering ceilings and nice use of mixed textures and materials. We sat facing the kitchen while homemade pastas were being made, that was a treat!
Service was very attentive and the food was quite memorable. Craft cocktails were inventive and very good. The Breakfast Basket is a must to start with. While all the goodies tucked inside were delicious, we fought over the lemon ricotta donuts with an espresso caramel dipping sauce. We actually had to place another order they were so delicious! The fried oyster tacos were too good to share, plump, briney and seasoned perfectly. I believe everyone enjoyed their own selections as much as I.
We dine frequently in Canton, and Gunther seems right up there with the best of them! We will definitely return soon!
Excellent place for a mid week lunch. Head to the BMA and then to the ballpark. Don’t miss the oyster tacos.
It was our first time there and we absolutely loved it! Great music and I absolutely loved the exposed brick. Ambiance was impeccable and the food was fantastic. I really enjoyed it and will be going back soon :)
Food was excellent! Service was amazing. A great desert menu! Would definitely go back!
We celebrated our anniversary heard of Gunther & Co. from a relative who lives in the Baltimore area as we reside in Bethesda, MD. It was fabulous, the cocktails and wine, the service,
the food was all just great--look forward to returning sometime soon.
I wanted a special place to celebrate my mom’s birthday and I am glad I chose Gunther. Our waitress was fabulous - she was attentive and very friendly. The food was fantastic. The night was truly special.
A fabulous restaurant with great food and fantastic atmosphere. Something for everyone to enjoy.
Excellent food and service. Never disappoints. Highly recommend.
Great food, great service, great experience. Only downside are the Unisex restrooms.
Overall a great brunch experience! Went with friends and sat in a booth. Ambience is nice and service was great, very warm and welcoming. Did the pastry basket for the table, the biscuit is one of the best we had ever had and the donuts are awesome! All the entrees were the great, did the flatbread and burger. Cold brew coffee was nice, and finished with ice cream and sorbet. Perfect!
While a bit pricey, the experience is worth it. And, there are some less expensive options than the way I dine. Always a good oyster selection, great cocktails, and beautiful industrial space.
They are always so welcoming. The service has never faltered here and the food is amazing. The humus is a must have but I have yet to have something I didn't like.
always a great experience at G&co. I would recommend to friends and family.
This was my second visit to Gunther and the experience keeps getting better. The outdoor space allows for plenty of space between tables and it is dog friendly. The service is attentive but not overwhelming. My group included two vegetarians, so we each ordered one of the offerings and shared them. One was butternut squash with lucious, chewy farro and cocunut milk. The other was goat cheese pasta with mushrooms. If it weren't too crude, we would have licked our plates. The other diner is our group ordered scallops which he said were wonderful.
For dessert, we had tangy strawberry rhubarb sorbet, an incredible dish called a creamsickle which featured a cruchy cookie base, frozen lemon custard and a meringue topping. Fantastic!
The only thing I would not recommend is the carrot cake. It was more like a muffin top and really was not salvaged by the ice cream and walnuts on the side.
Including the tip, we spent $49 apiece...well worth every penny
Quiche (crab) a bit dry, asparagus hard to find - service friendly, but wrong bill and credit card presented after the meal- food is good there and we'll return with friends
Unexpectedly fantastic! Well done on both service and the meal.
Just terrific! Our server was spectacular - food as well. A very relaxing enjoyable meal!
We had a wonderful meal. The food was inventive, beautifully plated, and delicious. Our waiter was knowledgeable, offered suggestions and was always timely. Wonderful experience
I live in Canton and the Gunther was a nice add to the neighborhood. I have been on several occasions, good for personal or business dinners. They have seating for whatever mood you are looking for, noisy bar area, quieter seating in the back, if you like to watch the kitchen they have a kitchen bar, and outdoors during the warmer months. It is a usual stop when I am entertaining any outside visitors.
Food and service were lovely as usual. I had the scallops with mushroom risotto and it was perfect! The server was very helpful with describing menu items and cocktails. Even received a complimentary birthday dessert!
Fun spot for date night with my boyfriend. We sat at the bar and shared a few plates. On Mondays they have fried chicken with collards and mac & cheese. So much food, but so yummy!
My wife and I went on a Monday, and it was an excellent experience. On Mondays they serve a fried chicken dinner which is to die for. My wife and I will be back.
The Mother's day brunch was an eclectic menu with an item available for all different dietary needs and preferences. Service was fantastic and we all really enjoyed our Mothers Day because of Gunther & Co.
We went to Gunther &Co for Mother’s Day brunch... it was fabulous! The building is interesting and bright, the service was great and the food was wonderful! I was there with my husband and teenage daughters, we all ordered different items so we could all sample everything. The cheese plate was my fav first course, but all four were excellent. My main course, quiche, was yummy, the fish pot was fantastic, the French toast could have been a dessert, it was sweet and delicious. And of course the Benedict was great!
We almost didn’t order dessert because we were happily stuffed, but the daughters wanted to try it. So glad we did! Unbelievable chocolate pave and homemade sorbet... yum!
Thank you for a really fabulous brunch! It made the day so lovely!
We had reservations for 8:45 pm but were not seated until after 9:45 pm. After we finally got seated, our food took another hour to arrive after we placed our orders. I would not recommend this restaurant if you have any plans after dinner.
Amazing food - dreaming about the octopus. I think it’s the best I have ever had! I would love to return soon.
This was without a doubt the best meal that I have ever had in Baltimore. For some context, I have dined at Wit and Wisdom, Jack's Bistro, Blair's on Hudsons, Latin Points South, Fork and Wrench, Parts and Labor...I will most definitely return.
