Günter Seeger NY Ratings and Reviews
I had dined with Gunter in Atlanta, several times and always been pleased and impressed by his talent and execution. His new incarnation is even better! Wonderful six course tasting menu matched very well with wine. Food is prepared perfectly and brought at great temperature. China, utensils, serving ware and stemware all grand and glorius. Staff was eager to engage and lovely service ensued. Nice quiet atmosphere with pretty people all around made for a terrific experience. Definitely will return!
Gunther Seeger is a modern version of a throwback - a small chef driven restaurant with world class food. We used to have a number of restaurants like this in NY but not anymore. Bouley is gone, Daniel is for the tourists and awful, Per se is weak, only Bernardin still shines. But Gunther Seeger is that good, and that rare in NY today
The presentation and the flavors at Gunter Seeger would best be described as very precise. The chef and his team clearly set very high standards for them selves and dinners will be pleased and occasionally amazed. The service staff is a well oiled machine without ever appearing mechanical. The chef rotates the tasting menu around what is at its peek while keeping certain standards as anchors in his rotation. He a grand master with eggs and all things that swim or fly. The courses are appropriately sized and once leaves happy satisfied but not bursting at the seams.
The kitchen's thirst for innovation and seasonality is evident in a carefully curated menu. Their "batting average" is exceptional although one may occasionally find an experiment that is not quite ready for prime time. For example, an Oyster and Beef Consume dish was expertly prepared but the choir never quite achieved full harmony.
Its clear why Micheline honored this restaurant with a star.
This is truly fine dining ina gracious, beautifully designed space. Tables are far apart and the service is impeccable. My friend and I️ did the six course tasting. Every dish was superb and thoughtful. The wine pairing was perfect - each wine did what It was supposed to do - compliment the food. I haven’t been to a fine dining restaurant that has this ambience in quite a while. It is actually designed for
Conversation. The phone reservation warnings and rules are off putting and the owner should rethink them. 72 hour cancellation???? With a charge will put off many. Is the dress code really necessary in this day and age. I️ don’t think the restaurant can afford to turn off diners at this stage. I️ would definitely rethink.
AMAZING! Beautiful decor with open kitchen and gorgeous flower arrangements. Food was incredible. We loved every dish. One of top 5 restaurants (in the world) for me right now. We had such a wonderful time. Highly recommend this restaurant, it's more than worth the price.
A very nice and unique experience. The room is pleasant in a very modern and angular way. The staff was quite attentive and service was good but maybe a bit over the top. Go with the 10 course tasting menu - the house specialty egg was unique and delicious. All the food was tasty and nicely prepared with some dishes better than others. Our least favorite was the squab both in flavor and presentation. The chestnut soup was delicious. Try the tomato sorbet - very unique. What was disturbing and put us off was that the next table had the identical meal to ourselves - in fact, nearly everyone in the restaurant is having the same 10 course meal. We noticed that for some reason they had all sorts of extra little courses that we did not have. I did notice that they knew someone in the kitchen but for such a very expensive meal, it did put us off that we had 'less' of a meal while watching our neighbors eating all sorts of extra and interesting dishes - and that could keep us from returning.
This was as expected, a one star Michelin restaurant and it was a one star. Well worth the money, but a one star. Wine selection was excellent, service was great. Food was above average, but plating had issues. Comparable food sizes were different, plates were not presented in the same orientation. Anyway it was a one and deserves that respect
