Gunpowder Tower Bridge
We had an absolutely wonderful anniversary celebration. The husband absolutely loved the food - this is not an easy task to achieve! I've been before and loved it. See previous review! Will be returning and soon!
Great tasting food and good service but highly overpriced
Amazingly flavorful Indian food served tapas style. Lively energetic restaurant which means that reservations are a must. Service was inattentive at times.
Food was not very warm!
Service at door was extremely poor!
The food was incredible - definitely worth it.
On the NYE set menu, the first two courses were served cold and I'm not sure they were supposed to be? Also I found some of the flavours on the other dishes to be very strong and salty. However the restaurant is set in a fantastic location next to Tower Bridge and the ambiance was lovely.
Great value NYE meal, esp. the champagne! Food delicious as usual. Glad to hear that the rabbit biriyani is back on the menu. We'll be back soon!
Gunpowder is hands down my favourite restaurant in London. The food is incredible. We've visited the Spitalfields restaurant many times before, but this was our first visit to the Tower Bridge branch. It was NYE, and even though the restaurant was fully booked, the food was still absolutely amazing and the service was great. The FOH staff are also lovely - our friends arrived with 2 cases of beer (as we were off to a party afterwards) and they offered to put them in the fridge for us! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Simply stunning! One of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. The food was exceptional.
First time dining here and the service and food was pretty good. Will definitely dine here again.
We went for a 19:00 o’clock dinner, everything was genuinely amazing. From the service to the wine and the food, we will 100% be back!
Let’s start with the positive: the service was excellent and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with my allergies.
The portions were generous and the food tasty if somewhat greasy.
Unfortunately the tables are minuscule and so cramped together that we felt as if we were dining with the table next to us!
The toilets were also pretty grim, with a toilet seat and soap dispenser hanging off.
Doubt we’ll be going back I’m afraid.
Incredible food! Would highly recommend! Staff a little pushy with regards to reservation time, it’s quite strict as it’s very popular, so be sure to order desert before they tell you your time is up.
Great food and service with an eclectic and tasty menu. Lots of interesting dishes to share and enough room for some good deserts afterwards.
Excellent service and food. Will come again.
Good food, Not standard Indian restaurant menu but very good. Although it was on the expensive side.
Rushed to finish but otherwise great experience. No breads was an issue
We arrived early and in spite of the restaurant appearing to be full they quickly found us a good table. It was quite noisy but in a vibrant way and with an energetic feel. The service was attentive and efficient and the food (we had the set menu) very enjoyable. We were not rushed and, overall, had a very good experience.
Great ambiance and buzzing, service was hit and miss but friendly. Food was either amazing or average. I would go back though.
Really clever menu with tons of flavour in. Great variety for the vegetarians out there too.
The lamb chops are amazing as is the whole menu
One visit is never enough
Nirmal is a culinary genius
We had a perfect evening - great food and a wonderful service!
We got caught in traffic but the staff were ever so helpful and kind. Superb food and service. Gutted that the rasam bomb wasn’t in this branch. The sigree brocoli and bhindi was delicious!
Third time here at the Tower Bridge branch. Still brilliant, if expensive. But when it's this good, I don't mind. The lamb chops are beyond exquisite.
Food is really great. Chops, rabbit pilau, duck, okra fries, prawns - every single thing was sublime.
Fantastic food and service!!! Would recommend highly
Great food and wine. The soft shell crap was particularly good.
Beautiful and stylish restaurant. The food was also stunning and most dishes were excellent (personal favs were the aloo chaat, saag paneer, and their take on the martini). The broccoli and courgette dishes were average. Service was slightly overbearing since the restaurant was not very busy.
Despite the other poor reviews regarding service I booked here. Having eaten at the spitalfields restaurant I hoped things would be the same as there. We sat at our table for half an hour, no drink order or food order taken. It was 830pm, there were plenty of empty tables. We left so ignore my review of the food. I won't bother returning again
Great service and interesting menu options. The service was very speedy
Would most definitely recommend GunPowder.
Best dining experience I’ve had in London!
We had the "pre-theatre" menu after a matinee. We were early but were seated immediately. Dishes arrived promptly and overall were well cooked and tasty.
I would not really recommend this restaurant to vegetarians the choice is a bit limited. We were disappointed with the choice of alternative main dishes offered to the vegetarians in the party. The broccoli dish was spoilt by the use of a very woody and tough head of broccoli.
Unfortunately the wonderful food at Gunpowder was overshadowed by the abysmal service provided by our waiter and the manager. We were misinformed about the menu several times by both members of staff and did not receive adequate answers for the questions we asked. We then overheard them talking about us which was uncomfortable and unprofessional to say the least. After being called out on the conversation there was an attempt at damage control by both members of staff which was disingenuous and transparent. When we asked the waiter to remove the service charge from our bill he responded with “okay” and returned to the table sulking like a child. We were visiting for a friend’s birthday and I am so disappointed that she had to encounter this behaviour and regret having chosen Gunpowder for her celebration. The whole experience lacked any finesse and I would strongly recommend you choose another restaurant if thinking about visiting. People don’t visit restaurants of this kind simply for the food, it’s for the experience of which ours was appalling.
We were made warmly welcome, the food was beautifully prepared, presented and delicious and the service excellent. We had a wonderful evening.
We had a lovely evening but on the Feast menu - I think there should have been more vegetables
Not your typical Indian restaurant food. Love the sharing tapas idea. Very well thought through menu. Delicious. Ambiance needs working on. Felt like the waiters were rushed off their feet but they were very polite. I would come back again.
The manager was super nice. The food wasn’t that good. The service was slow.
great quality food - excellent service - however still a little hungry after the set menu. Certainly a very different Indian food experience than i am used to with a very modern twist. will no doubt be back to explore more of the a la carte offerings.
The food was amazing. Went for lunch, 4 of us shared lots of dishes and all of it was delicious, fantastic flavours and combinations. Service was good and the restaurant setting is modern and clean with a cool vibe. Considering the quality and amount we ate (and drank!) it was good value for money too. Have recommended to friends and will definitely go again. Food intolerances were also catered for without too much compromise.
Not quite as good as the original but holding its own- tables are a bit squished together. Food is brilliant.
