Food was great. Same for the drinks. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We had a great time and ran into friends, as well.
Only downside was we asked to have our unfinished dinner wrapped. When we got home, we discovered that the main course was missing. Only the sides were wrapped up. Kind of disappointing end to an otherwise great experience.
Fantastic service. Our server was not only knowledgeable of the menu and how food was prepared, but honest with regard to learning what was important to us and making recommendations specific to what he learned. He asked us great questions.
The food was beautifully prepared and presented and tasted great. Dessert was delicious and having only one bite was pretty much impossible.
Celebrating an anniversary. Everything was special.
Terrible service despite being seated at 6:15 when the restaurant was nearly empty.
Bring back corkage
We have been eating at the Guildhall for years now and it always a top level experience; food. service, drinks, vibe. We typically go before Writer's Theater and we always have good meals and don't feel rushed out. The only negative is that the noise level is too high but we manage. Otherwise kudos to the owners, staff frequent diners.
Incredibly well done from beginning to end. Service was attentive and helpful. Food was excellent.
Great food always- Easter brunch too rushed - never felt this way before but Easter was a machine
Greeted by friendly hosts upon entering the room. Our server was incredibly welcoming, with a knowledge of the daily offerings that impressed. Food came out in a timely fashion & the presentations were great. Each dish packed a ton of flavor & not a single one disappointed. Splitting each of the daily donuts four way, was a great suggestion.
Also, had a great chat with the bar manager about brewery visits on the way out. We weren’t partaking in drinks given that we were with family, but excited to come back & try one of the barrel aged offerings.
Thanks guys! Can’t wait to return!
Great job again by Guildhall. We had filet mignonette, veggie bucatini and the grilled escolar specialist of the day. Each was simply excellent. Service was great as usual. We’ll be back. Thanks Guildhall for another great time.
Everything was great
Our server Carlos was AMAZING! We have been there before but this last time Carlos made our experience that much better. The best server at Guildhall. Much better than pepe. He is a nice looking handsome guy. Food great.
Early dinner on a Tuesday No crowd attentive service. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Great food. Well presented
This was our first time at Guildhall. We went before a play at the Writers Theatre. Very convenient. And a delightfully tasty and creative meal. We enjoyed each course thoroughly.
We went to Guildhall on a Saturday afternoon for a birthday lunch. We had a noon reservation and there were 6 in our party. We were seated right away and our server took our drink order immediately. After that, the service rapidly declined. We waited at least 25 minutes for our server to take our order after that. We waited over an hour for our food. No one approached our table to apologize for the usually long wait. We had to flag our server down to ask about our order. The restaurant was busy and our server had 2 other tables that were seated after us. They got their food before us. The food was excellent- with the exception of a dried out glazed donut which was brought as a dessert for the birthday girl. Although our meal itself was very good, the unusually long wait to be served and the disappointing dessert negatively impacted the experience
Tables are very close together which was disappointing. Other than that the food and service was excellent.
This is a fantastic restaurant and is a gem on the North Shore. We dine here all the time. The staff and management is so professional and friendly. The space is fresh and bright and most importantly it is alive with atmosphere! Do not miss a chance to enjoy the food.
My husband and I have eaten brunch at Guildhall twice before attending plays at Writer's Theater. The staff is friendly and service is attentive, but not rushed. Try a brunch cocktail. Bellinis are perfect.
We have eaten here numerous times and always had a good meal with excellent service.
The hamburger is wonderful and the french fries are really some of the best I have had. Needless to say I am not very Paleo.
Good food but too loud. Good for pre-theatre. Enjoyed the fritto misto and salmon. Service was also good. Just wish it wasn’t so loud. Can’t hear yourself talk.
Just love this restaurant a great date night or ladies night out.
Love the food and service is excellent very knowledgeable on wine.
My place to go!
While the food was great. The service was overbearing..... We were having dinner with friends and could not even relax and talk.. Literally the server and bus boys were hoovering around us. They would come by and try to pick up our wine decanters before they were empty (wine $10 a glass- I want to drink every last drop), trying to take away plates with food still on them because you had paused while eating to talk. I appreciate attentive service but this was beyond ridiculous. We felt like we were being hurried and really should not have been as we arrived at 5pm and were the 2nd table to be seated. Also, we were seated directly next to another couple, the quarters are quite close. We could hear each others conversations, in fact the woman sitting next to my husband commented on our food. For the money - we spent $200 on dinner, we really felt like it was not an enjoyable experience.
Loved the whitefish special (with slightly pickled carrots ). Please put it on your regular menu !
Terrific food and service as always.
Burata salad was great. Filet was a cheap piece of meat accompanied by a plate filling, awful tasting giant piece of radicchio I can't see anyone eating and it was $34 overpriced. Need noise control! It is way too loud
Outstanding. Worth every penny of the bill.
Food was excellent. Ditto service. People were nice and attentive. Ambience was quite enjoyable. Noise level was tolerable. Recommend this restaurant highly!
Excellent food in a lovely casual setting!
Excellent choice for dinner before Writer's theater. Extremely close and the waiter was helpful in pointing out we could stay parked for free. Limited menu but good choice ranging from vege to meaty with seasonal options. Food was very good. Interesting wine list, mostly reasonably priced. Good service and quick to get you to the theater on time.
Excellent service and food. Great ambiance. Best restaurant on the Northshore
What an amazing dinner we had. My friend and I shared a butter lettuce salad that was wonderful and we both had the stone bass which was divine. It was seared and served with awinter squash and black rice. Amazing!
Great atmosphere. Two people ordered cod and loved it, two ordered cassoulet.
Cod was excellent, cassoulet not good at all.
Would go back, but pas pour le cassoulet!
Everything wonderful except they were full and it was quite noisy.
The service was as good as the meal. Each appetizer, salad and entree served to each of the four of us was outstanding.
Service, food and atmosphere were all great. Enjoyed it very much.
The food is consistently good. I had the roasted chicken and my husband had the tenderloin. We started with a bruchetta. All delish. Our server was neutral. Not super helpful or friendly. She seemed irritated that the four of wanted to enjoy a leisurely dinner. The water glasses needed more attention.
The restaurant is very pretty, but it is LOUD.
I won't come here for groups larger than 4.
It was a lively restaurant, but we were able to hear each other at the table clearly. The food was very good - bass, skirt steak, peppercorn tenderloin, lamb pappardelle - all very good. We did not feel rushed at all.
Our brunch could not have been nicer—something for everyone from my 9 year old daughter to my 83 year old aunt! Amazing, freshly made donuts to an incredible chicken club to eggs with smoked salmon. Just perfection. Service matched the fantastic food! They could not have been more accommodating.
Our party of four had an excellent dinner at Guildhall before a weeknight performance at Writers. Their kale and butternut squash salad was delicious, as was the Amish chicken. We had very attentive service from Alberto.
My only suggestion is that the restaurant take a look - and a listen - to the type and volume of music they were playing for an audience at 5:30 pm on a Thursday evening. When we first sat down, it was extremely loud, and some of the selections truly sounded like a jackhammer over our heads, making it difficult to hear the person next to you. Luckily, I think someone must have turned down the volume after the restaurant started to fill. The food was excellent, but the ambiance in terms of noise needs some attention to make this restaurant as terrific as it has the potential to be.
We were attending a play at the Writer's theater, and wanted to have bite to eat beforehand. Guildhall was a nice restaurant. Nicely decorated, friendly, attentive staff. They had just opened at 4p and the place was empty, so I can't comment on the noise levels. The food was expensive. I wasn't there to eat a sumptious meal, so Bonnie settled on a burger ($16), I had the fish and Chips ($19 I think). Fish was tasty but was simple white fish and not all the difficult to prepare. Chips were potato slices. I tasted the burger and it was above average: but $16? What gets me is the over the top prices on wine in so many places these days. The cheapest red on the list was $16, justified by it being an 8oz "carafe" versus a 6oz glass. No offense, but that's double. Someday someone will figure out that great tasting wine doesn't cost all that much, and if you can offer a good 'pour' for 6 or 7$ people will remember that, rather than $40 dollars on the bill for a few glasses of wine.
I don't imagine the well-heeled residents of the area care all that much, anyway, but I'd likely not go back due to the cost. But I would like to eat there on a busy weekend: I'll bet it's fun. It really is a nice looking restaurant with a great bar area.
The O'Neill play was outstanding!
Great Sunday brunch as always! We had a great time. Can't beat it!
