This is my third time dining at this restaurant and each time has been enjoyable. This, a Saturday night, was noisier than I enjoy. But that is my only complaint.

Very good meal and service. Was crowded at first and a little noisy, but worth the visit.

The ambiance is top notch, hands down. The food is basic. The beauty of the restaurant creates an assumption of great food - don't assume. I would compare the quality of the restaurant's menu to "pretty good bar food" but 2-3x the price. The coffee is sub par. The sweets are exceptional. The restaurant is absolutely stunning. I'd recommend Guildhall for drinks or a celebration. Going there just for the food is a terrible idea.

From the moment we sat down this was a first class dining experience. To start, the service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and well timed. The wine list is unique and the food is outstanding. Our server paced the meal perfectly. An outstanding dining experience.

Guildhall is good, overall, but the lunch offerings are very few. Music was wayyyy toooooo loud and we had to ask twice to have it turned down. We could not hear each other speak. The Laura Letinsky photos are fantastic! Worth the trip just to see them. Two of us ordered the salmon salad which they both liked. The Tuna Niçoise was ok, and the chopped salad was good. We liked our server!

Good food & service but so noisy that you can't hear the people talking at your table.
We would dine here more often if the noise issue was improved....we hear this same comment from friends & neighbors.

I love Guildhall and dine there 2x per month or more. I usually sit at the bar early and chat with Tory and Tim. They are great bartenders and the hand-crafted drinks are fabulous! I especially enjoy the Guildhall version of the Negroni. It is barrel aged and has a unique flavor.

The food is outstanding. My current fav is the butternut squash tortellini.

The only drawback is: NOISE. When busy, Guildhall is nosier than a 747 at takeoff. Last Saturday (12/9) it was so loud at 7pm that we could not talk across the table. We could not hear the waiter. In the future, I will not go during peak dining hours.

The food was great and the staff was kind and efficient. The noise level was almost too much for conversation and the tables were too close to each other. The cost was way over what was expected. Nice experience but I don't think I'll go back due to the cost and the noise.

The food is very good. The service is great is you could only hear the waiter. If you want to have a quiet conversation this is definitely not the place to eat. A little noise absorbing decor around the walls and ceiling would be great. It is nearly impossible to have a conversation if you are more than two to three feet away from the person speaking unless they shout. Guildhall can you hear me?

It is pricey, but food is quite good. Outrageously noisy. Each time I swear I'll never go back, but frankly there's not much in the area of Writers Theater/Glencoe with as good food. So we end up there. Last visit was a Wednesday night, restaurant was about 3/4 full, I had my hearing aids adjusted to "Restaurant" mode and to reduce effects of ambient noise, and it still was so loud that I had to have my wife repeat just about everything she said during our anniversary meal. Even their back room area, which is a bit better, gets too loud when full. Noise is well above the level of a "buzz" that hipper restaurants want.

We have been to Guildhall several times and were pleased. This time, the waiter asked at the outset if we were going to the theatre one block away and we said yes. The drinks and soup came in a reasonable period, but we waited forever for the entrees, despite inquiring about the status. As a result we had to eat the food in haste. While the food was tasty, the prices are not cheap for this poor service. We will go elsewhere for dinner before theatre for the rest of this subscription season.

Everything was excellent except for the lettuce salad which barely had any ingrediants listed on the menu. Flatbread, tortolini , and banana tart deserve special mention. Server was very nice.

Very noisy even though we are supposedly in the quieter dining room

As usual, Guildhall is a bustling, fun environment with consistently great food and drink options. We were a little disappointed just this once because they changed the preparation on one of their old standby's- Fish and Chips- and did not tell us. We were surprised when a totally different looking meal arrived. While it was good, it didn't compare to the usual and more traditional preparation that Guildhall is know for. However, still a great meal. The butter lettuce salad is wonderfully light and delicious and the sea bass is prepared crisp on the outside and so flaky on the inside. Lamb papardelle never disappoints. Still a neighborhood favorite!

Guildhall is a great suburban restaurant that is vibrant enough that you almost forget that you're in the burbs...except that people bring they're kids to this more upscale restaurant, but it is in a town that doesn't have many options , so you might as well teach your kids early to enjoy good food.

Great food as always. It would be helpful though if the host/hostess or waiter on first visit to the table could inform the table of featured menu items that are no longer available. I think 3 of 4 of us were very excited about getting the featured bass item and had to regroup after being informed it was no longer available after being served drinks and perusing the menu for a good bit of time.

The server was excellent, but I was disappointed in my particular meal for a restaurant of this reputation. I ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare. What I received was a 4 oz piece of meat that was medium well. If I wasn't on a date, I would have commented at the time. At this price point, a larger serving size done correctly is mandatory. As a reference, my date's piece of salmon was literally 2.5x the size of my portion. I cannot believe my meal made it past the line. A portion this small never should have made it to the grill, let alone have been plated. The roasted red cabbage and sweet potato puree were both fine and her salmon was excellent.
