Perfect spot for dinner before performance at Writer's Theater. But this restaurant was so good, I'm looking forward to returning on another occasion. Great addition to Northshore dining scene!

Good food & service but so noisy that you can't hear the people talking at your table.
We would dine here more often if the noise issue was improved....we hear this same comment from friends & neighbors.

Had a very nice experience there. Food was great, as was service, ambiance, etc. It is a bit noisy, but one gets used to it.

The food is very good. The service is great is you could only hear the waiter. If you want to have a quiet conversation this is definitely not the place to eat. A little noise absorbing decor around the walls and ceiling would be great. It is nearly impossible to have a conversation if you are more than two to three feet away from the person speaking unless they shout. Guildhall can you hear me?

It is pricey, but food is quite good. Outrageously noisy. Each time I swear I'll never go back, but frankly there's not much in the area of Writers Theater/Glencoe with as good food. So we end up there. Last visit was a Wednesday night, restaurant was about 3/4 full, I had my hearing aids adjusted to "Restaurant" mode and to reduce effects of ambient noise, and it still was so loud that I had to have my wife repeat just about everything she said during our anniversary meal. Even their back room area, which is a bit better, gets too loud when full. Noise is well above the level of a "buzz" that hipper restaurants want.

We have been to Guildhall several times and were pleased. This time, the waiter asked at the outset if we were going to the theatre one block away and we said yes. The drinks and soup came in a reasonable period, but we waited forever for the entrees, despite inquiring about the status. As a result we had to eat the food in haste. While the food was tasty, the prices are not cheap for this poor service. We will go elsewhere for dinner before theatre for the rest of this subscription season.

Everything was excellent except for the lettuce salad which barely had any ingrediants listed on the menu. Flatbread, tortolini , and banana tart deserve special mention. Server was very nice.

Very noisy even though we are supposedly in the quieter dining room

As usual, Guildhall is a bustling, fun environment with consistently great food and drink options. We were a little disappointed just this once because they changed the preparation on one of their old standby's- Fish and Chips- and did not tell us. We were surprised when a totally different looking meal arrived. While it was good, it didn't compare to the usual and more traditional preparation that Guildhall is know for. However, still a great meal. The butter lettuce salad is wonderfully light and delicious and the sea bass is prepared crisp on the outside and so flaky on the inside. Lamb papardelle never disappoints. Still a neighborhood favorite!

Guildhall is a great suburban restaurant that is vibrant enough that you almost forget that you're in the burbs...except that people bring they're kids to this more upscale restaurant, but it is in a town that doesn't have many options , so you might as well teach your kids early to enjoy good food.

Great food as always. It would be helpful though if the host/hostess or waiter on first visit to the table could inform the table of featured menu items that are no longer available. I think 3 of 4 of us were very excited about getting the featured bass item and had to regroup after being informed it was no longer available after being served drinks and perusing the menu for a good bit of time.

The server was excellent, but I was disappointed in my particular meal for a restaurant of this reputation. I ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare. What I received was a 4 oz piece of meat that was medium well. If I wasn't on a date, I would have commented at the time. At this price point, a larger serving size done correctly is mandatory. As a reference, my date's piece of salmon was literally 2.5x the size of my portion. I cannot believe my meal made it past the line. A portion this small never should have made it to the grill, let alone have been plated. The roasted red cabbage and sweet potato puree were both fine and her salmon was excellent.

We were given a gift certificate as a birthday present. Ambiance, not so much. Food good to average - get that skirt steak off your menu. Service was spectacular with excellent wine recommendations. Otherwise, overrated and quite overpriced.

So sorry it took us so long to find Guildhall. It is the perfect restaurant to visit before or after going to Writer's Theatre.

Started off with a great Sauvignon Blanc. Large Pour! Then we had the carrot soup...fabulous. Crusty bread accompaniment was perfect. Entrees.....The Brussels Sprouts side was one of the best we have ever had. I ordered the Squash Tortellini...unique and delicious. Husband ordered the Fish and Chips. Excellent! Finished off with the Apple Tart with spectacular Coconut Ice Cream. Truly, everything was fabulous and way above average. Service staff also superior.

It’s noisy and it’s busy, but Guildhall is terrific! Great choices, generous servings, wonderful preparation. We had fritto misto (puffy fried seafood)and a bacon/onion/cheese tarte (would have been enough for us alone) to start: they were excellent! Our entrees were a tasty skirt steak and a special fish, escolar which was so fresh and buttery, it melted in your mouth. A nice wine list, prompt service, and a rocking atmosphere. If it’s too loud, you’re too old!! We’ll be back for sure!

Guildhall is a good, reliable, moderately priced restaurant in Glencoe. I had a salmon with an excellent sear, but slightly more cooked than I prefer. It was nicely presented and well seasoned. I enjoy the place, but it can get somewhat loud when filled.

Everything was excellent. The place was busy, but service was still excellent. I’ve esten at quite a few restaurants in the city. Since moving to the burbs, I’ve found the restaurant scene pretty boring. Guild Hall is my favorite place to date.

I took 3 of my grandchildren to Guildhall to celebrate their October birthdays. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and presentations were very nice. Their ages are 30, 24, and 18 and while the portions are not very large, along with a couple of appetizers and the wonderful, lovely desserts that were presented (compliments of the restaurant) everyone seemed to have enough to eat. We were seated at the time of our reservations and its a very attractive venue.

Took my daughter here for Sunday Brunch. Next time we are coming with more people so I can sample more items on the menu. The Chilaquiles were delicious. My daughter had the Pain Perdu which was amazing. The donut flavors sounded so good but was too full to try.

What could otherwise have been an outstanding choice, the noise level was DEAFINING!!’ Timed it for after theatre crowd, to no avail ...barely heard the specials. Felt for your servers. 3rd visit and Sam SORRY I ont be back unless Im walking by and see it’s not crowded. VERY VERY relieved I did not choose for our NW grad celebrations June. Went to Avli instead...wise choice. How can Guildhall be a celebratory choosing when you can’t hear anyone?

A wonderful venue to enjoy a relaxed evening with terrific food. The food was so flavorful. Of particular note was their chicken. It was so moist and the flavor of the herbs were so infused in each bite. We went for a birthday and they made it a special occassion.
