The restaurant is closed (permanently). We did not go.
We did the New Year's Eve Five Course Dinner menu and the food was fantastic. All the courses from the were very unique but very good. Everything was cooked perfectly. My only complaint was the service (which it is busy on New Year's Eve) and sometimes we waited at times 30-45 mins for the next course (which the restaurant realized the issue and gave my wife an extra glass of wine which was nice). Would definitely try Guild again for dinner.
Thank you so much! Come visit us in our new downtown location ~ opening Spring 2019!
The food is excellent and the chefs are amazing. The ambience seems a bit too quiet however..
We brought friends here soon after our first time coming. Not all of the dishes were available and the desert wasn’t as amazing, but still one of our favorite restaurants in Austin.
This was an exceptional experience. Our waiter was amazing as was our meal and drinks. He surprised us with the cardamom pavlova desert which blew us away too. We loved this location and hope in downtown it’s doesn’t get crammed or too loud.
Too expensive, plates very small, very good taste but really too expensive :(
Guild was delicious. We sat at a cozy corner table for two. We started with oysters. They have a nice selection. For dinner we had the halibut and scallops. The dishes had so many different yummy components that came together in a great way. The service was solid too! We will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for your kind words. We hope to see you again soon!
The food was excellent . The space is beautiful! We had a lovely evening there.
Thank you so much!
Food was not especially tasty, and quite expensive. For a $200 bill, I know I would have much preferred patronizing Barley Swine, or Clark’s. We will not return even though we live right in the neighborhood.
Great evening out. Delicious and very creative - would have loved slightly larger portions though. Thank you!
Expensive for what you get. Small plates charged as if larger portions.
Everything was delicious and fresh. Fun cocktails and a good wine list. Atmosphere is great and was a quiet. Personally I tire of the shared-plates movement and would prefer more entree/appetizer type menus but that is my only complaint. Everything was super tasty and left feeling satisfied at all levels.
Thank you Becca!
The ambience of the restaurant is outstanding. The food, while good seems to be loaded with a multitude of additional items seeking to make it trendy. I had the halibut, which was tasty -- but arrived lukewarm. Service was spotty.
Thank you for giving us a try. We appreciate the time you took to review us. We are sorry to hear that you didn't fully enjoy your experience and will use this information to help us to grow. We do hope you give us another try soon and try some of the other items on our menu.
We loved this place!! It was such a gem and we will be back.
Thank you Cara, we are looking forward to seeing you again!
I asked a friend to join me for dinner because I had dined at Guild last week with a large group, the UT retired faculty-staff association, and enjoyed the meal. I particularly enjoyed the mussels, perhaps the best I had been served in Austin. I had been to Guild once before and had a good experience. But not this time, Friday, November 9. The mussels came, again excellent. Salads came and almost in mid-bite my friend was served his halibut. We were both surprised and even more so when after about ten minutes my entree, scallops, had not arrived. My friend did not want to start his entree until mine arrived. At length I caught the server’s attention and asked about my entree. He may not have turned in the order, we thought. The server said it would be coming and went to the kitchen counter and spoke with someone. After another ten or fifteen minutes we asked the waiter to return my friend’s entree because by then it was cold and the slice of toast on top of the halibut was limp. Finally, when the server brought both entrees he said the original halibut should have been served to another table. I looked at my scallops, or I should say scallop. It was one scallop with two thin rounds like tiny pancakes and three little chunks of what must have been in the center of the single scallop. That was to be a $28.00 entree. We finished our meal and asked to have the check split evenly. We were followed to the auto valet stand by a gentleman we assume was a manager, who asked us if there was a problem with the meal. We had not made a fuss, so were surprised, but pleased, that he had approached us outside. We explained the issues. He simply nodded and returned inside. But the night did not get better. When I got home I had an email alert from American Express. I was charged for the entire meal. Half was also charged to my friend. I called and Ashley, after a few minutes, said it was a mistake, would be corrected. It was not a good evening.
Amazing - the servers and staff were so welcoming and accommodating- every dish was amazing and we couldn’t stop ordering. It was a great experience and we are so glad we tried it
Thank you so much! We hope you join us again soon.
Guild is unique in the Austin food scene. The range of dishes is creative; presentation and quality excellent. Incredible selection of oysters, small plates and entrees. Our server was well-informed and answered our questions. With open kitchen and room design we enjoyed watching our meal being prepared.
Thank you so much ~ we hope to see you again soon!
The service was very poor. The waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu, and he would disappear for long periods of time. We didn’t order until about 30 minutes after we were seated and didn’t get our food for another 45 minutes or so.
Thank you so much for letting us know. Your feedback helps us to get better and it is much appreciated.
So overpriced for food that was trying to hard to be unique that it tasted disgusting.
We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience.
The food was excellent and our waiter Shane was awesome. Perfect spot for a double date!
Thank you so much for your kind words. We hope to see you again soon!
Waiter was nice but their was this unspoken tension/stress noted from employees, waitress, look on faces
Of those working there. Seemed like something underneath the surface was going on.
Thank you for letting us know - we will look into the matter. Hope to see you again soon!
They try to be a foodie place but the $45 NY strip was very fatty, and the boillabaisse was very salty. Missed the boat. Kindly , the server didn’t charge for the steak without us asking.
We will look into the matter and appreciate you taking the time to let us know so we can improve. Thank you!
Loved everything about it! The food, the service, the attention to detail. Will definitely be back.
Thank you so much ~ see you soon!
Overall, a really fine meal. Our server - perhaps new to service? - asked us 4 times in 19 minutes if we had questions or were ready to order. Sort of a burn-and-turn approach. I mentioned it to an AGM, and then the meal went into SLO—MO: 35 minutes between courses. Still, this is a remarkable new resto, and my sense is that they will work out the kinks.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know -- this feedback will help us grow!
Top notch service, potent cocktails, delicious dishes. We’ll definitely be back.
Wonderful place for high quality oysters and fish. The Chef is quite amazing.
This place is phenomenal. It is a progressive menu experience. We tried the salmon belly and Oysters to start. Then were brought out the gnocchi, risotto and the steak to the halibut. The food was exceptional. Our server Jacqueline was wonderful and very attentive. Our favorite drinks were the Sage Old Fashion and the Strawtichoke. A fabulous night was had by all!!
The brunch menu is interesting, particularly their cocktail list (I actually loved the sake "mimosa"). However, service was lack-luster and it took a while to get drinks and food and more drinks. Our drink order was messed up with the table's next to us, and we were asked three different times if we wanted another drink before it arrived. I think the staff was just overwhelmed - they were trying to be attentive, but either they were too busy, or the bar and kitchen was backed up. I think the food was okay - I won't rush back, but I wouldn't object if I had someone that wanted to go back. Especially for the sake "mimosa".
Great spot! The only reason I did not give it five stars was because it does take quite some time to be served. We waited an hour after placing our brunch order. Just know that going in, especially if you are on a schedule. Our wonderful waiter said dinner time is quite a bit slower making it a true dining experience. A very chef inspired venue ~ enjoy :)
The service was impeccable, the food was outstanding, and the reasturant with it’s open kitchen design is gorgeous. Will be coming back.
We went to Guild for our anniversary. The seafood was really great and the dishes were creatively prepared. The fish dip was excellent. The restaurant itself is also very stylish. Would definitely recommend!
we were very disappointed. service was ok, not great. very expensive, even for a high end restaurant. menu fairly limited and odd, even for a foodie, especially the desserts. super fennel heavy. restaurant was also loud. it is an attractive space, owever.
We made a reservation on OpenTable for 10pm. OpenTable even allowed us to make the reservation. We got to the restaurant only to find out that they closed at 10pm. OpenTable even had an availability online for 1015pm. Extremely frustrated that the system would allow us to book a reservation for a slot when the restaurant was closed.
Food was delicious and were creative. Larger dining room them expected and very nice patio. Everything was great. Chef Kristen Kish was sitting behind me enjoying several courses, if that tells you anything. But, oddly qe went on a Wednesday night at 8pm and there were only a few other tables. We were the only ones in the whole place once our dinner was finished. It was if we rented out the place for ourselves. A couple of the chefs even brought our courses to the the table and explained the dishes.
I was super excited to try this place, as it's owned by the same company as Swift's Attic and Wu Chow (both of which are great). We booked Sunday brunch for four of us. The positives: the space itself is fantastic - super modern and looks great. They have $2 sake mimosas, which came promptly and were delicious.
However, I will definitely never go back for brunch.
The food took forever (none of it arrived at the same time, just bits and pieces - first came 1 order of bacon after 30 minutes, then nothing until some beignets (one of our main courses), and then 3 main courses arrived together another 20-20 minutes later. I would like to mention that Guild was basically empty at this time...the delay wasn't because they were slammed with so many orders.
That itself was annoying, but here's the real issue: the food was terrible. It was just...all genuinely bad tasting.
1) We started with a pastry board, with an assortment of desserts that came out burned, crispy, and just plain gross.
2) We also ordered hushpuppies as part of our entree (and they continued to bring us more which we kept having to remind them we didn't order). They were inedible. Super, super salty and just bad tasting. We didn't eat more than a bite each of them.
3) The oyster beignets tasted off. Like the oysters had gone bad.
4) The savory dutch pancake was just...bad. It came with a fried egg, avocado, bacon and "red-eyed gravy." Nowhere in the description did it state it's "coffee flavored gravy" but that's exactly what it was. The coffee-grind gravy-ish substance dripped all over it ruined what could have been solid bacon, avocado, and egg on its own.
Will not return. There too many other places in Austin where you can get a great mimosa without waiting an hour and eating bad food.
We went for Sunday brunch.
Disappointed as there was but one fish-seafood item available. Also a very limited menu.
Last: way too much salt on the food
Prices were good.
We tried Guild after a University of Texas performance. it was convenient to get to being so close to UT but also didn't feel as if we were in the heart of Student center. What i want to point our was our waitress!! she was fantastic and engaging. we had private conversations and she was aware of when to come by for water or when we needed more. she gave us some tid bits of info about the restaurant but wasn't lingering. it was perfection. the food also delicious. when you walk in you see their garden and the basil, rosemary and others that you assume are used in the food. and with great delight! It was so yummy and the perfect late night place
Excellent food, wine, service and ambiance! Visited Guild for the first time while celebrating my husband’s birthday, and we were so impressed. We will be back for sure!
