We were very pleasantly surprised how nice everything was. The building is stunning, the food was delicious & had some unusual items on the menu. The staff were very professional and accommodating, even when I ask if they could turn the background music down a tad. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and we hope to go back very soon! To sum up in one word “Brilliant”.
Great place to eat for two or twenty. Both hosts are friendly and involved with all aspects of the business which lends a more personal feeling when you stay there for overnight or just for drink at the bar.
The Guesthouse is always wonderful an this meal followed suit! Had the salmon and it was moist and tender. Soup of the day was delicious - potato and leek with perfectly balanced cream base. Desert special - peach cobbler with a twist was delightful! Jesse and Gary treat everyone like family and that gem of a chef and the lovely and sweet service staff combine to my it great place to eat.
Dinner did not disappoint! It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'm still dreaming about the burrata appetizer special. My pork chop was delicious and the mango crème brulee cheesecake was the perfect way to end the meal.
This is a wonderful food oasis. Terrific menu, nice staff. Really appreciated the vegetarian options and allowing the removal of unwanted ingredients from my 12 year old daughter's dinner.
We had an outstanding meal at the Guesthouse. First let me start with the ambience, which is romantic and private but there were also some group tables having fun for a birthday, which was nice. I had a cocktail made with Jim Beam apple - yum, house recipe. The drink menu has a motherlode of local options including hard cider, which I also tried and was glad I did — it was pleasantly dry and flavored with elder flower. For an entree I had cod in a puttanesca type sauce that was delicious and beautifully presented. The only reason I scored the food as 4 stars and not 5 is that my partner’s cauliflower “steak” came out a bit overcooked. It looked like it would have been good otherwise, and they immediately offered to replace it then took it off the bill when we declined. So no hard feelings on that. We had a peach “cobbler” for dessert. The only reason I put it in quotes is that it was so gourmet it seems unjust to call it cobbler. Carmelized with a sherry cream sauce on top, it was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Will go back as soon as we can
My wife and I had a very pleasant stay and dinner there.
SOME OF OUR DINNER WAS VERY GOOD AND SOME WAS POOR. MY KALE/ROOT SALAD WAS TERRIBLE. KALE AND SLICED RAW CARROT AND BEET. LITTLE DRESSING. HARD TO GET DOWN. THE ROLLS WERE DRY. THE DUCK WONTONS WERE THE BEST PART OF THE DINNER AND THE BACON AND SCALLOPS WERE GOOD. MY PORK CHOP AND POTATOES WERE GOOD BUT THE BEANS COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE COOKED FOR ME.
I THINK IF I RETURNED I WOULD ORDER SOME APPETIZERS AND TRY ONE OF THE OTHER SALADS. THE GROUP I WAS WITH SAID THE OTHER SALADS WERE VERY GOOD.
Awesome experience, as always...thank you for making Mark’s bday a special one!
Food is excellent, and dining rooms are cozy and comfortable. Just beautiful all around and very well-run.
Yes. Excellent service and attitude from the staff and the owners who jump in to help wherever they can.
Always a great time at at wonderful restaurant!
How in the world did such a fantastic place get hidden in the woods and mountains of Lost River, WV? This place is a true gem. It's worth the trip no matter where you are coming from! The guests in the bar area were very friendly and sociable. The staff was excellent and very attentive. The hosts were beyond friendly. I would truly recommend this place! 5 stars!!!
It was my friend, Gayle’s, bday dinner. We arrived early for our dinner reservations. Gary & Jesse happily met us and we were seated right away. Jessie came over to the table and enthusiastically announced the added dinner specials, but I’d been dreaming of the scrumptious Ribeye for 2 weeks! We started with the amazing Blackened Shrimp dip... YUM!! It was more than enough for the 3 of us. Gayle & Lynn had the WVA Maple brined pork chop. There was not a speck left at the end of our meal... except dessert. Their wonderful “team” even went way above by preparing a special dessert complete with candles which they brought out singing “happy birthday” to Gayle! Thank you, Gary & Jessie (and your wonderful team) for yet another memorable and absolutely , delicious meal!!! See you all again soon!
Excellent! Owners are friendly, food prepared well. Your choice of vegan, vegetarian are available. Nice wine selection. Will return.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was outstanding. We will definitely go again.
The food was absolutely delicious! The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and proactive. This is a great place for a romantic meal with your partner or a good time with good food and drink with friends &/or family
The food here is always delicious and you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful location. The owners are amazing and the staff is excellent. It’s always nice to check out the B and B while waiting for dinner.
Best dining experience I’ve had in a long time! I will definitely be back!
Always an awesome dinner experience and A+ service. Can’t wait to go back!!!
We were greeted at the door by one of the wonderful owners, taken to a beautifully appointed table. The dining room was elegant. The staff go above to take care of your every need.
The food is amazing, for starters the WV Bourbon & Candied Maple Bacon is custom cut and cooked to magnificent perfection. You'll wish you could take a pound to go! The Ribeye is always cooked to mouth watering deliciousness.
As we finished dinner the restaurant was filling quickly and understandably so. I would recommend making reservations the next time you are in the area. You definitely will not want to miss this incredible find in the beautiful Lost River Valley!
Jesse and Gary have created an atmosphere that is unmatched in the local area. They are both gracious hosts who go above and beyond for their customers. The food is excellent and the service is even better.
My fiancé and I enjoyed it greatly. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in and taken care if by some amazing staff. We would love to come back.
First meal as a married couple. The owners are family friends and truly the most hospitable talented hosts in the world. The duck wontons are AMAZING
Another great experience!
Awesome from the beginning to the end!! Suburb! We will visit again! Worth the drive to West Virginia!
Our dinner was phenomenal! We had one special and one menu meal. Bother we’re exceptional along with appetizers, salad, and dessert! Jesse and Gary are the perfect hosts!
I love this place!! Jesse and Gary are wonderful people and always go out of their way to make everyone feel very welcome! The staff is great and the food is amazing. We drive 4 hours to enjoy this hidden gem and have never been disappointed. The view is absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend!!! ❤️
Came to celebrate my 18 year wedding anniversary.
Meal: appetizer and soups were great, entrees were ok. Ribeyes, wanted medium, it came half med and half well and meat was a 1/4 fat. Pasta meal had under cooked pasta. Guests behind us couldn't stop using the " mf" word and they were obnoxious for a fine dining establishment.
Another great experience, followed by the doughnut pop up the next morning.
Great dinner, as usual. I want to particularly note the chef's fantastic hashbrown/tuna/onion with two sauces appetizer... w/ a spicy afterkick. An extra special special! The specials are often What To Eat.
Food was well prepared and the hospitality provided by Jesse, Gary and their staff was top rate. Breakfast was served family style and the biscuits were to die! Well worth the drive to stay in a beautiful location.
The Guesthouse Lost River was great for the stay and dinning. Gary, Jesse and the staff were very friendly an welcoming. The food was great and the breakfast was over the top. The views of the country side were a site to behold.
Great place for our anniversary date! Delicious and cozy, would definitely recommend.
We arrived early and were greeted by the owners. After chatting a bit we walked through the beautifully decorated inn. After we made our way back to the dining room, they were very accommodating and sat us early. Cheyenne, our wonderful waitress, made certain we were never left with the “where’s our waitperson” feeling 😊 . Dinner was fantastic! I’m still craving another, mouth-watering, perfectly grilled Ribeye!! We will be back again & again! Thank you for a great evening, wonderful staff and perfect dinner!!
This place will be our go to place for many many years!
A very unique place -
Amazing surroundings, exceptional service and the food.
So good, fresh, savory.
This was our second time here, and we're already planning our third visit
Delightful restaurant and bar nestled in the mountains of West Virginia. Staff is always friendly, upbeat and attentive. Delightful, locally sourced food, beautifully prepared. The proprietors' only desire is your enjoyment. Highly recommended.
What fantastic service! Everyone was very nice and our meals were yummy too. Loved the arugula salad with dried cherries. Perfect on a summer evening! The layout of the dining room is great. Not overcrowded or squished. Beautiful views of the W. Virginia landscape!
