A job well done by Jesse and Gary especially with Covid. The personal touch they do with guest has become standard with them. Excellent
The fact that the GuestHouse is out of the way makes it an extra special place to drive to and get an experience that will make you want to come back. The food is delicous and the atmosphere is friendly and professional. The prices are high, so be prepared to pay for a good experience.
Food and service is always excellent here. This review was written during the covid 19 pandemic. Limited capacity comfortably spaced out tables all staff wearing face coverings. Hand sanitizer stations set up at all doors for guests. They are doing this correctly to protect their guests and staff. Look forward to returning. JTV
Great evening! Excellent service and food! Everyone follows social distancing and wears masks. Felt very comfortable. Look forward to more dining here.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We want our guests to feel at home and as comfortable as possible. Thank you for letting others know about your recent visit. We look forward to having you back again! Thanks, Gary
Always a great dinner at the Guest House! One of my all time favs!
I ordered salmon first night and a tofu dish the second--both were excellent! The co-owner, Gary, was very knowledgeable about wines, and allowed us to taste opened bottles before purchasing a bottle. The chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream was delicious, and Happy Birthday was written on my wife's brownie plate.
The service is great and the items on the menu are delicious, I highly recommend it
A very enjoyable experience dining at The Guesthouse. Gary and Jessie are excellent hosts who's enthusiasm is apparent in everything about their establishment. A very lovely dining experience to celebrate a special occasion in our lives, all while maintaining social distancing, and employees and guests wearing facial coverings. Bravo!
As always the food was amazing and setting is perfect! Gracious hosts
Once again we were very happy with our experience at The Guesthouse. In spite of the Covid 19 procedures they had to follow, the staff managed it very well. After they politely explained the protocol, our meal was virtually unchanged from our previous visits, except that the staff was masked and gloved as required.
Our meal was well prepared and presented. Taste was everything we expect and more. We thoroughly enjoyed our rockfish filet. I especially loved the Blueberry Lavender Cheesecake! Well done!
Fantastic as always. Gary and Jessie along with the entire Guesthouse team are doing a great job bring back just a little of our old lives back.
Atmosphere, service, and food were outstanding. Limited touring given the COVID concerns, but still an excellent evening. Highly recommended.
Wonderful meal. Exceptional service. Very comfortable environment! Outstanding!
Overall amazing experience. Like having dinner at home... except an excellent chef lives there.
Amazing, world-class food in beautiful setting on very rural Washington National Park. Great selection of food, wine, and dessert choices, a lot of it made with local foods. Best creme brule ever. The siracho cauliflauer appetizer was to live and die for. My wife and I both had salmon cooked to perfection.
Great place to get food and drinks. Very friendly staff, amazing food. And the location in gorgeous.
The Guesthouse is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a very tasty meal! I am local and enjoy their food and employees! Thanks Guesthouse!
This is the ONLY place you should eat dinner when in the Lost River area. The surroundings are so nice. The service is excellent. The food is uncommon and delicious.
Wonderful! Loved the ambiance and food. Unfortunately, we found we didn't particularly like the drinks (Moscow Mule & Titos/Tonic/Lime). This wouldn't stop us from coming back!
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with our experience. We will be back again.
New Year’s Eve is always a great experience at the Guesthouse! The big difference is the set menu. Caviar was offered this year! The holiday decorations and live music add to the total experience of a wonderful way to usher in the new year.
If you have not been to Jesse and Gary’s world of total devotion to each and every customer, you need to try it!
A big plus is the service. The wait staff are perfect!
We went here for our 20th anniversary dinner. I had seen a write up about this restaurant on the Only In West Virginia site. The facility is off the "beaten path" but well worth the drive. The food was excellent, the staff very friendly and efficient, the noise level quiet so you could carry on a conversation. We were greeted by the owner who explained the menu and advised us of the "special". The feel of this place is very relaxing, but elegant. We will most certainly return if we are back in the area.
Food was incredible. Duck wontons were super delicious. Ribeye entree was so full of flavor and cooked just right. $30.00 bottle of Bordeaux on the wine list was the highlight of the evening. Very good mixed drinks from the bar. The Mountain Mist and Moscow Mule were both very yummy. After dinner drinks in the bar by the fireplace were warming and cozy. Can't wait to return again!
We had a wonderful meal with outstanding service. Looking forward to our next visit.
Lovely environment, great wine & champagne lists... mngt/owners incredibly hands on
Outstanding service and food! Love visiting when I visit lost river. The staff is wonderful and the menu is always great.
As always the food was excellent and the service was both attentive and very professional. We will be back!
Just a fantastic experience. Great food and service, and they had a live acoustic performance which added to the ambiance.
Good ambiance. Attentive staff. Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Food very good. Well worth a visit.
Awesome weekend experience. If you want to get away from the hustle of urban life and decompress, this is the place to go. Hospitality of owners is outstanding and the interaction with guests is sweet and friendly.
We were very pleasantly surprised how nice everything was. The building is stunning, the food was delicious & had some unusual items on the menu. The staff were very professional and accommodating, even when I ask if they could turn the background music down a tad. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and we hope to go back very soon! To sum up in one word “Brilliant”.
Great place to eat for two or twenty. Both hosts are friendly and involved with all aspects of the business which lends a more personal feeling when you stay there for overnight or just for drink at the bar.
The Guesthouse is always wonderful an this meal followed suit! Had the salmon and it was moist and tender. Soup of the day was delicious - potato and leek with perfectly balanced cream base. Desert special - peach cobbler with a twist was delightful! Jesse and Gary treat everyone like family and that gem of a chef and the lovely and sweet service staff combine to my it great place to eat.
Dinner did not disappoint! It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'm still dreaming about the burrata appetizer special. My pork chop was delicious and the mango crème brulee cheesecake was the perfect way to end the meal.
This is a wonderful food oasis. Terrific menu, nice staff. Really appreciated the vegetarian options and allowing the removal of unwanted ingredients from my 12 year old daughter's dinner.
We had an outstanding meal at the Guesthouse. First let me start with the ambience, which is romantic and private but there were also some group tables having fun for a birthday, which was nice. I had a cocktail made with Jim Beam apple - yum, house recipe. The drink menu has a motherlode of local options including hard cider, which I also tried and was glad I did — it was pleasantly dry and flavored with elder flower. For an entree I had cod in a puttanesca type sauce that was delicious and beautifully presented. The only reason I scored the food as 4 stars and not 5 is that my partner’s cauliflower “steak” came out a bit overcooked. It looked like it would have been good otherwise, and they immediately offered to replace it then took it off the bill when we declined. So no hard feelings on that. We had a peach “cobbler” for dessert. The only reason I put it in quotes is that it was so gourmet it seems unjust to call it cobbler. Carmelized with a sherry cream sauce on top, it was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Will go back as soon as we can
My wife and I had a very pleasant stay and dinner there.
SOME OF OUR DINNER WAS VERY GOOD AND SOME WAS POOR. MY KALE/ROOT SALAD WAS TERRIBLE. KALE AND SLICED RAW CARROT AND BEET. LITTLE DRESSING. HARD TO GET DOWN. THE ROLLS WERE DRY. THE DUCK WONTONS WERE THE BEST PART OF THE DINNER AND THE BACON AND SCALLOPS WERE GOOD. MY PORK CHOP AND POTATOES WERE GOOD BUT THE BEANS COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE COOKED FOR ME.
I THINK IF I RETURNED I WOULD ORDER SOME APPETIZERS AND TRY ONE OF THE OTHER SALADS. THE GROUP I WAS WITH SAID THE OTHER SALADS WERE VERY GOOD.
Awesome experience, as always...thank you for making Mark’s bday a special one!
Food is excellent, and dining rooms are cozy and comfortable. Just beautiful all around and very well-run.
