Food OK but I believe that they can do better with plate esthetics. The refried beans on the taco salad plate look very unappetizing. Also need more seasoning.
We had a reservation, which I am glad had. It is a small restaurant and they were packed. We sat down and it took 10 minutes before a waiter came over and another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Waiter had a surly attitude also. Margarita was very good. Guacamole was great, although a small portion Jicama salad was good too. When the entrees finally came, food was delicious. I have been at this restaurant a few times and the service is consistently bad and the food is consistently good. Go there is you are in no rush
The salmon fajitas are amazing. Great food and service.
Service was slow, food mediocre and expensive.
Guacamole and margaritas were good, but sick about how much we spent.
I have been a customer for 3 years. The food is always fresh, staff friendly & I frequently eat here.
We've been here before and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The food was 'meh' on thsi visit. I'm not sure that we'll return, given better Mexican options in the area.
Entries were good and fresh but could've used a bit more heat/spiciness. Coffee machine not working so no coffee to go with an excellent dessert (Tres Leches cake).
A neighborhood authentic Mexican restaurant we love. Great service and reasonable prices. Wonderful chicken tortilla soup! My wife loved her skirt steak, and my shrimp Acapulco dish had a bunch of sweet camarones in a delicious mild sauce. Good tequila selection as well! Terrific!
Consistently good food and drinks! The margaritas are the best in the area. Love a night here with friends or family!
I started with their Tortilla soup, which is second to none and which is such a nice presentation in their square dishware. Then I had the shrimp enchiladas with a sauce that was just perfect. Umm, delicious! No room for dessert this time, but I have had their flan before, and it is great!
Great place. Not a special occasion place but excellent neighborhood place to go for authentic mexican food
Food was decent but nothing overly flavorful. The burrito tortilla was thick and tough . Meat was not that tasty . Chicken tacos were dry- no sauce. Nothing came with sour cream or guacamole, and a tablespoon of sour cream cost almost $1! I’d try something different next tine before writing off the place but it was really average .
Service was beyond terrible.
Food was good as usual. Service at the bar was extremely slow and had trouble getting orders right. Haven’t had this problem in the past when seated at a table.
Our go-to place for summer Fridays. Live guitarist, excellent margaritas and true Mexican food, with lots of seafood and healthy choices if you use self control on the chips and salsa!
This was our first visit to Guanajuato. We loved the food and atmosphere. The food was fresh, authentic Mexican, the guacamole was excellent! The service was very good and the waiter was helpful with suggestions. They offer vegetarian options and lunch specials. We will definitely dine there again when in the area!
A disappointing experience as the food was underwhelming, somewhat tasteless, and it was quite chaotic with lots of kids running around. However, the service was quite attentive. Will not go back there as there are better options we've experienced on the north shore for Mexican food.
We had to go early in order to make another event in time. The noise level was high due to families with children and the tables were very close together. But the margaritas were good and food were good. We will try again at our normal dinner hour and hopefully it will be less noisy.
Great food and great service. It is our favorite Mexican restaurant! You cannot go wrong!
This was our first time at Guanajuato and it was terrific! We were seated promptly, and even on a busy Friday evening. The friendly waiter was so helpful with dinner and drink recommendations, and excellent service. The ambiance was intimate, but vibrant. We felt transported to a beautiful warm day in Mexico, as a guitar player serenaded the diners with music. Most importantly, the food was outstanding!! Can't wait to return!
I have been a customer for years. We enjoy many menu items which are delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic food and friendly staff.
Food was not bad. Prices high for what you got.
We think this is the best Mexican food on the North Shore. Always fresh ingredients, flavorful, and high quality fish and steak. This is NOT cheap, gloppy Mexican like you may be used to at other places. I love the Enchiladas Margarita. The sharp tartness of the green verde sauce compliments the creamy smoothness of the cheese for the perfect flavor sensation. With fresh sauteed spinach on the side, it is a delicious meal.
Delicious food and service. Very accommodating. We always enjoy the food and service.
Nice experience, the only negative was the very small portion of guacamole they give you for an appetizer
Great food and atmosphere even if it’s noisy it’s duevto the great guitarist! Service is weak! We’ve been 6-8 times and the service is slow and waiters are not attentive or pleasant
Very busy restaurant and noisy. Great food & service. The spicy shrimp was delicious.
Great as usual!
The tilapia fish tacos were terrific and the margaritas are very strong.
The service was excellent and this feels like a cozy neighborhood gem. Our meal was plated well but the carnitas tacos did not taste fresh at all (reheated?) and the mahi was over cooked. 3 tacos are between 17 and 20 dollars. I understand the area can support that price point, but I didn’t see the value there for the quality. 2 taco plates, 2 cocktails and a kids meal with tip, about $90.
Great local place. The owner is always on site. We preffer the crab and fish dishes. I like to upgrade the tequilla in my margarita, try a Casimigos Reposado.
Waited a bit long. We had reservations. The hostess said the table was being made ready. But we still waited 20 minutes and no comments during the wait. Food was excellent. Liked the live music. Need a second door on the inside. Every time the outside door opened the cold air rushed in making it cold in the restaurant.
Guanajuato is as authentic a Mexican restaurant as there can be. They achieve this with fresh ingredients, imaginative preparations, and reasonable prices. The menu ranges from common items to more unusual dishes, and everything is delicious. Most recently I hade Mexican sashimi to start followed by a grilled shrimp entree. The flavors were fantastic! My wife really enjoyed her tortilla soup and steak tacos. Lots of tequilas to choose from, adequate wine and beer. Service was friendly and efficient. Easy to go back!
We love this restaurant
Family favorite and kid friendly. Good food and the value is decent.
The Sausalito Tamales appetizer is amazing. All the fish entrees are great, and the carne asada is very good.
Guanajuato is my favorite spot on the North Shore. It is simply the best!!!
Seated fairly quickly. Offered drinks quickly. Margaritas were very good. Had to wait quite a while to order food but that’s ok when you have a drink and chips and salsa. Food was very good. Live guitarist was really nice. Overall a great experience.
The chips were too salty to eat. The sauce on the enchiladas was not the same as in the past and not as good
