GT Prime Ratings and Reviews
We made a reservation at 7pm and were not seated until 7:50 p.m. The host was not apologetic at all. Then throughout dinner our service was very slow and our server often disappeared for long amounts of time. Considering how expensive this meal was, the service was very poor. I would not spend the money on returning nor would I recommend to a friend. Maple and Ash for the same price point was a far superior experience
Lovely venue, great atmosphere within and staff very friendly. Not cheap though, our server recommended we have 2 or 3 small dishes between us, a medium each and also one of the big dishes. Figured out that would cost a fortune! We just had a medium each with some extra fries and that was sufficient for us. Food nice though!
Incredible! I loved everything about this restaurant! We were celebrating a birthday and the staff went out of their way to make it special. Our waitress was well versed in all of the menu items and we loved all of her recommendations.
We ordered the carnivore and it was spectacular. This has become my new favorite Chicago Steak place!!
Decor was really cool, and made a great first impression on us. Service was very attentive. We told our server we were on a tight schedule because we needed to catch a show and he totally worked with us. Our server was very polite and took the time to explain to us items on the menu. All dishes were very tasty. We love how you can order half portions of the meats so that you can try out both steak and other meats like venison and/or bison. Mushroom side dish as well as mash potatoes were amazing.
The evening could not have been better. James our server was 100% the reason for that. We asked a few questions at the beginning of dinner then handed over the reins to James and he picked one perfect course after another for us to enjoy. The food is amazing and it’s such a beautiful space. A definite YES for any occasion! Thanks James for making our dining experience one we’ll always remember!
A special treat for my husband’s birthday, our dinner at GT Prime was fantastic in every way. Manager John took extra care of us upon learning that we had to wait half an hour past our reservation time for a table to open up. Our appetizers were amazing, especially the fois gras and the tomato-crab salad. My husband said his Kansas City Strip was the most tender, delicious steak he’d had in ages, and my duck confit was also excellent. Lovely wine list, and a limited but yummy dessert menu. The ambiance is dark and sexy, with great music. It’s the perfect spot for a special occasion dinner.
Because we had an early reservation we got excellent service. The food was fabulous! Small cuts of meat was perfect for both my husband and I. And can we talk about the silky smooth mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts in a maple butter sauce?! Yum! The desserts were also wonderful. Doughnuts with a coffee dipping sauce and a Meyer lemon creme brûlée. The main dining room is cozy and dark with awesome food photographs on the walls. Perfect for a winter night. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later!
We had a fantastic time at GT Prime for my fiancé’s birthday dinner. The food was incredible, the service was great, and the wine selection was extensive. We ordered and loved the Bone Marrow, Scallops, Bone-in Ribeye, Shishito and Corn, Mushroom and Brie, and the Brownie. Highly recommend everything. We will be back for our next special occasion.
Enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating my son’s birthday. Our server Allison was personable and patient, allowing family fun and for us to truly enjoy the evening. The food was excellent from the presentation to preparation...delicious! Nice touches to keep us feeling pampered and certainly not rushed. 3 generations agreed it may be our new favorite place! Truly a memorable evening.
Had a great meal here following up on a "steak dinner" bet I lost to a co-worker. We both had the bone in rib eye's and they were truly spectacular. Food quality throughout was excellent and cocktails were very good too.
Service was perfect and the ambiance is great.
Highly recommend if you are looking for an exceptional steak, cooked to perfection.
There are a ton of great steak houses in Chicago, so I wasn't expecting GT Prime to be anything special as compared with the other great ones. I was wrong! This menu is different and inventive. The meat "tasting" was really great. Everything we had was outstanding and the ambience is really impressive. Highly recommend this place!
We went there to celebrate birthdays for 2 people in our party. The atmosphere and service was definitely top notch and we started off with some fabulous cocktails. We split 2 small and 1 med plate (pasta is a must have to share) to start and then each got our own steak. I loved the fact they had 4oz options of meat for those of us who can’t handle a big plate of beef. Everything was delicious and it was the perfect ‘special occasion’ place!
This was my second visit and this time was with friends and the Mrs.; they were hesitant to try “my idea” of trying the “carnivore” and doing a tapas style dinner. They did not regret my suggestion, they raved about our waiter, his wine selection and the food. I personally recommend the Bison and Wagyu, key on those and you will be pleased. All the apps are good and talk to your waiter about your pallet, he or she can help you through the menu. Great place, one of my favorites as a local.
Frankly, it's a nice place but unusually expensive. For that price, I'd need to be WOWED to go back. We've tried it twice with the same reaction. Good food but not worth the steep price. The atmosphere is nice, but not emotionally engaging. We can get a more personal experience with delicious food elsewhere. It's not at all bad. It's just not where I want to spend $110/head for 12 oz of meat, some veggies and two glasses of wine (each).
The steak was good but nothing special in particular. Also, our server had advised the small plates were small and were meant for sharing - having said that I was expecting tapa sized plates but instead the plates were quite normal appetizer sized plates. We ended up ordering way too much food for 2 people. If you wanna talk about small plates, the sides were quite small - my asparagus had only 5 twigs for a whopping $19 (there claimed to have truffle but is was not present). Would not dine again at BT Prime again - not worth the calories =\
I've been to GT Prime a number of times and find the staff and even food sometimes inconsistent. It is overall one of our favorite restaurants in the city but I do think that when it's busy, the staff doesn't do well. Our favorite time was when the place was more than half empty. The difference in your seat makes a huge difference in your experience. While everything costs the same sitting at a two-top, you're squeezed into it and the table doesn't even have enough space to fit everything on it so it's a constant struggle. Sitting at a booth is a whole other experience and I took my girlfriend there this past weekend for her birthday, I made the mistake of not requesting a booth. The place was very busy, even at our 9:45pm reservation, and we didn't have enough room and it was weird sitting so close to others.
The food was spectacular. The ambience was just what we were looking for. The service? Actually, just our waitress, turned out to be horrendous. We questioned something and after that she wouldn't even return to the table to take our main course order. Rather than offer the dessert menu, she dropped off the check. We do not want to return because of this- she should not be working and representing your establishment.
First time there for my boyfriends's Birthday. Wanted to find a spot that was not the typical big name steakhouses and that would be something exciting. Beautiful chic decor, food was delicious, awesome unique experience how the meat was served, with the ability to try smaller cuts so we could try a variety. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Mortadella Arancini, Gnocchi with Pesto, Filet and Venison. We cut our meat with butter knives and the word cut doesn't even describe it - more like slightly broke into smaller pieces! SO tender and juicy! Cooked perfectly at medium rare. We were going to skip dessert because we were very content at the end of the meal, and our fantastic waitress suggested the PB & J creation - which reading the description wasn't something we'd typically pick, but it was incredible! We certainly will be back. We have already begun recommending it to everyone! They even made my sweetie feel special - with a Birthday surprise. Highly recommend!
