GT Fish and Oyster Ratings and Reviews
Unreal and I can’t wait to do it again! This was not my first visit and will certainly not be my last. The food was outstanding! We had the clam chowder, lobster roll, fish tacos and linguini with clams, all made with their own special twist. Everything was amazing. The service was outstanding. The wine list was excellent. And all of that was delivered by a restaurant that is not pretentious, and is completely approachable with a great vibe. This is one of the very best restaurants in Chicago!
First time at GT Fish & Oyster. Food was outstanding. We shared oysters (of course), hamachi, crab cake (best crab cake I've ever had), fish tacos. Cocktails were well balanced, interesting, and flavorful. I had Rhyme Thyme and my husband had Cold Front. The Chocolate Caramel dessert was also delicious. We were in a hurry due to two accidents that affected our commute, but our excellent server had us in and out and on our way to the opera in only 45 minutes (dessert and settled bill included). We will definitely return!
The seafood was outstanding and fresh. We tried a mix of cold and hot plates, which were all fantastic. My favorites were the Poke and the lobster roll. The service was excellent and they were incredibly accommodating considering I asked to add two more people to our reservation at the last minute. Great experience overall and will definitely go back.
Chef GT's Menus Are Consistently Outstanding!
We frequent this hot spot, and always love the brunch! There is absolutely something for everyone! We love the omelettes, chilaquiles, crab cake benedicts, and po' boy sliders! Maya was an excellent server, and made us feel right at home!
GT is always a great place for good seafood! The clam chowder is the best I've ever had. The fish tacos are to die for. And the saffron risotto with sausage and swordfish is a great meal on a cold Chicago night. The service is always the best and the chef is an amazing guy! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Good food, though a bit pricey. I graded them down for a service failure. They asked if we wanted drinks (it was lunch) and I started to order a glass of wine and then said, "no, I don't want to sleep at work. Do you have bottled water?" She said they had San Pellegrino. I said fine. She then brought out a huge bottle (which cost $7). If they didn't have individual serving bottles, she should have told me in advance.
Sensational food and super-cool staff at this seafood–centric scene.
Love it every time! Enjoyed the sparkling rose (which as trendsetters, they’ve poured since their inception and I still love), shrimp bruschetta with avocado and a little kick, BEST mussels marinara ever (!) Period. A perfect amount for 2 plus 8 delectable slices of buttered toasted challah-like toast to soak up all of the chunky tomato sauce. (Not grilled with burn marks which I hate). Total Perfection! Equally prepared to perfection is their lobster roll - BEST EVER! Typically I enjoy it here chilled with mayo and celery but now that it’s cold out they offered a brilliant surprise second option to serve it warm with butter in the same delectable sweet bread toasted and a generous pile of their signature onion strings (to die for!) and pickled veggies (so so). I would prefer a small fresh fruit salad or some lightly dressed lettuce and tomato or medley of tomatoes or a green veggie or fresh veggie medley over the pickled beets, etc. But least of my worries cause we were SO full of pleasure and contentment. Service is excellent, plenty of servers to wait on us throughout. Kudos to the owners, staff and chef for their committed dedication to excellence! :)
Highly rated in Yelp we decided to try. The atmosphere was nice, the server was very attentive but the good was fair at best. The portions are very small (tapas) so you have to order several items. The oysters were very fishy tasting although being from Boston we are very spoiled with super fresh oysters. Sadly I have to say I would not bother to come here again.
Freshest oysters I've ever had in the midwest! Service was outstanding and honestly there wasn't anything we ordered that didn't taste great. Dessert is a must and you have to order the Pb & J Panna Cotta! Will be back again very soon and looking forward to trying out brunch.
This was my second visit. I liked it very much the first time, and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t a fluke. It sure wasn’t! The food is delicious. The oysters are half price after 9 PM! They tasted fresh out of the ocean. Chloe, my server, was absolutely terrific. She dealt with my allergies with grace and creativity. All the staff are friendly and warm. I love it here; it is now my go to place every time I am in Chicago.
My husband and I have dined here several times, so we decided to take my parents here to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. As usual, GT did not disappoint. The food and service were fantastic and the waitress even gave my parents a special gift when we opted out of ordering dessert (which I’m assuming was going to be one the House). It’s extra things like this that make a restaurant standout. Thank you GT for another great dining experience.
My two friends and I had our annual reunion dinner at the cozy corner table which was perfect for catching up. We shared oysters, fish tacos, a cold lobster roll, crab cake, enhanced by dirty martinis. Yum. All the staff at GT Fish and Oyster are professional, attentive, and pleasant. Highly recommend.
Service was excellent. Food was very good to excellent, great for sharing small/medium plates.
We got 4 plates, which was perfect for two. Additionally, I have a gluten sensitivity and our server was extremely accommodating, both with recommendations and menu changes. Highly recommend. The only thing I can say negative about GT's was the "small pours" with wine, but with that being said, we will go back again the next time we are in town.
