This restaurant disappointed on food. I had fish tacos which were lacking in imagination and execution, flabby and dull where they should have been tasty and zestful. My companion's fish and chips were a mere ghost of what they should have been - there was no crispy crunch of batter, no succulent fish.
Service was warm and welcoming however a restaurant with such an interesting wine list deserves knowledgeable wine staff.

Whenever my husband I visit Chicago we always make it a point to go to GT Fish and Oyster. Not only are the oysters the best in the Midwest, but the cocktails are great, the service is phenomenal, and all of the food surpasses our expectations each time we go. Even after seven years, it is still our favorite spot for dinner in Chicago!

Fresh oysters, clams and fishes. One of the best I've had in years. Our server was really nice and gave suggestions on what we should try.

Dined recently for a business lunch. We had oysters to start (creamy, tasty, just right) and the shrimp bruschetta. The shrimp bruschetta are small bites so we ordered so each of us can enjoy one piece (one order is 2 pieces). So glad we did since it was a memorable bite with big shrimp, creamy tasty guac and subtle fruity grapefruit! My lunch was the chowder and oyster slider combo. This is a calorie splurge but portions are not over-the-top so you don't feel loaded. The chowder was thick, bacon-y and had chunky clams. The sliders were amazing and good thing they small so you can enjoy each bite. My colleague order the halibut and he said it was very tasty. It was beautifully plated. Well done, GT Fish and Oyster!

We had such a great time. Both of us haven’t been here in a while and it just so happened to be Taste of River North Week. We got a dozen oysters, wedge salad, lobster roll, linguini and clams and finally finished off with the chocolate cake. Being from New England, I never order lobster here but it happened to be one of the best lobster rolls I ever had. My family is coming to visit this weekend and we decided to take them there on Friday. Can’t wait to go back! This will definitely be a regular spot for us for now on.

I took a client to GT for lunch. The service was outstanding, and the ambiance was appropriate for a business meal. The soft crab sandwich was out of this world, as was the shrimp brushetta. The client was impressed by the offerings and left satisfied. I would definitely plan another business lunch at GT.

Scott was our waiter and he was terrific. I was not a big oyster eater, so he suggested the New Brunswick oysters which were delicious! Scott was attentive and the food and service was excellent. Cannot wait to go back.

Arrived early for pre-theatre dinner. Restaurant was only 30% full but already seemed chaotic. Food was interesting, creative and delicious. The service was terrible which was frustrating because there was an army of staff. Seems to be organized in a hierarchal system to reduce personal service.

Manager apologized and took some $ off the bill.

Having just had dinner at Boka a month or so ago, I want to try all of the Boka group spots and this place was a real treat. It's upscale but not uppity and delicious but not drowning in theatrics. I loved it here and will definitely return.

Food was mediocre at best and overpriced. Fries were soggy, lobster mac had that grainy over cooked/old texture and the crab cake was a pan fried shredded crab concoction you’d expect from Joe’s Crab Shack. We must have caught them on a bad day/time. Strange meal after reading all of the glowing reviews.

Oysters and mussels were fantastic.

We ordered the snapper ceviche, where it mostly tasted like avocado and not snapper. Would recommend either larger bites of avocado, less avocado, and more fish.

We also got the whole smoked fish which was just okay. Wasn't too much meat on it and the korean sauce seemed like an odd compliment that didn't go very well. We know that Korean food is hot right now but it doesn't have to be incorporated just because it is hot. Recommend having other sauces to choose from. Just tasted like mayo, ketchup, and sirrachi.

It was nice but wouldn't go back.

I’ve been to this restaurant 4 times and this time I felt the quality of food was not even close to being on par with my previous dining experiences. Portions were skimpy for the price and taste and presentation were marginal. I will not be back.

Well located seafood restaurant with some good dishes like the fish and chips, soba noodles and clam chowder. Halibut and grilled shrimp were so-so. Didn't order the oysters which given the restaurant name should have been tried.
