What Insiders Are Saying
GT Fish & Oyster is ideal for those who like all the pleasures of the sea. Mandatory oysters to start.
Great food, for once in The US, the portions were not huge. Right size, ate everything and did not feel stuffed like a pig, nor was I hungry!
We had a wonderful dinner experience. We were celebrating the completion of my husband’s two week Ph’D teaching class. We had friendly and professional service.
VERY pricey for food that was good, but hardly mind blowing. The dessert, however, was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
Service was so friendly and attentive! We ordered multiple sharing plates, all were very good, but some were items I wouldn’t rush back to order and the portions were small. The tuna poke was fine, not very distinctive esp for the price. Oyster poor boy was very tasty with wonderful flavor and texture although the bread was over toasted so there was a definite burnt taste. Octopus was good but not a must order. The highlight was the Thai coconut soup, would go back just for this item, it was outstanding!!! Plus I highly recommend the Brooks Pinot noir, delicious.
We were treated to a dinner here because the service and food were excellent. They went above and beyond for us and since we were celebrating my wife's birthday, our server gave her $20 gift card to come back. We will definitely be going back. Oysters and Lobster roll are amazing!
This remains one of my favorite places in Chicago. Reliably great oysters and seafood. Great drinks as well. I will continue to return again and again.
We sat at the bar to enjoy the oysters and wine, great service as always!!!
Went there on NYE by myself. Really liked the food and service here. I had the best scallop I've ever had, and the strawberry key lime pie is just amazing.
Loved the Oysters! Great food options, excellent service. Will go back
We were all surprised how great the food was. Nice dinner out with friends!
Just a date night with my 11 year old little girl..
Awesome environment. Very attentive staff. Scott, the server, helped make our experience better.
The food was excellent, service fantastic. We call GT our “we can’t get to the East coast to get our seafood fix” spot. Delicious. We will be back for sure.
This was a special occasion for our family. It took 3 times for my order to be done correctly even though the waiter wrote specific instructions on the order ticket. Food was ok - certainly not for a special lunch.
Excellent oysters and jumbo shrimp. A bit pricey.
Wow! One of the best meals. Found it on a Grant Achatz list of restaurants and did not disappoint.
Great bunch! Food was excellent and service on point! Could not have asked for more!
Outstanding food. Well prepared and extremely tasty! A bit pricey but all in all excellent!
Food and service were excellent!
The food and atmosphere was incredible. The service was outstanding and props to the chef and the freshness and presentation of the dishes. A must to dine at when in Chicago!
Enjoyable restaurant with good service. However the value equation seems to be off. Little expensive for the amount and quality of the food.
Oysters were the high point. Fresh and succulent and meaty. No real wait time. Juliana the maitre d’ / hostess was WONDERFUL!
Meal however was average. Portions of octopus appetizer small for price. Fideo was mediocre as far as taste. Portion meager. Pre-cracked crab legs had by wife was better choice.
Wine list great. Wife had L’Olivieto Pinot noir which was excellent recommendation
I’ll be back because of oysters but will likely try other dishes. In spite of four courses including Buckwheat honey mousse (superb) I left hungry
Our server was excellent (did a great job dealing with some weird food allergies at our table), the food was outstanding as always, the wine list is excellent. This time I had the Clam Chowder and the warm Lobster Roll...OMG I am salivating just thinking about it! GT Fish & Oyster never disappoints. I have been many times in the past and every single time have left with the same impression.
The food was outstanding but I ranked it lower because one dish, the swordfish, was undercooked. We notified the server and she sent it back. Several staff came by and gave us an appetizer but there was no more communication about the status of the entree. Eventually, we asked to cancel it but there was not one coming anyway. So, that was a bit confusing and although we were not charged, I’m not sure what the deal was with that. I figured they’d cook it or bring another one out. All other items were great, but I felt bad that the issue happened with one member of our party with no explanation.
One of my favorite places. Always good. I count on it ..
So we’ve been going to GT Fish and Oyster for a while now, and it’s literally always amazing, tonight was exceptionally amazing - we had the snapper ceviche (the total star of meal), some tuna poke, fish tacos, and branzino- all amazing! Seriously true snapper was beyond amazing... so. GOOD!!
Our first time - Boka Group has another hit on their hands. Dana at the front and our server Eric could not have been better. We'll be back!
Our server literally could not have been worse which is a shame because the food was delish
Loud, semi-pleasant, pricy. Ordinary non- careful food.
We went couple of days after Thanksgiving and ordered the seafood tower. The crab tasted old and dry -- not certain if it had been frozen or there was simply low turn around during the holiday week but I was very disappointed in the freshness of the seafood.
Very good food. Our waitress was knowledgeable ether service was excellent. We enjoyed the evening immensely.
We tried the seafood and it was fresh.
The service was really good as well.
Portions were small. Crab legs tasted like they were frozen. Seafood tower was WAY overpriced and mediocre.
GT is a family favorite. We come for the fun cocktails that lead into delicious oysters and other fun eats. A very fun night out! We come as a group of 6-8 every year after Thanksgiving and have a blast!
Fabulous food !
Every thing was delicious, but disappointed that you use canola oil in your dressings & sauces. It changes the taste & is bad for you. Only Non GMO products should be used at an expensive Trendy restaurant like GT.
The clam chowder was excellent
First time we’ve been in awhile. Food, service, everything was MEH and prices high. Won’t return.
