Great service. A bit pricy but terrific food and a different place to entertain out of town guests.
We’ve been craving more mussels ever since! The best we’ve ever had!!
Always great food and great service!
Good food - fish and chips for us, at a reasonable price - for Chicago.
Scott our server and Jasmine the manager offer consistently exceptional service! Impeccable food. Always a pleasure!
Great food and service. A little loud at times
It’s one of our favorite places. We hadn’t been in a long time though... was a little disappointed to see how small the menu seems to have gotten, but understand why and the overall food and service was still amazing and fulfilling.
Our server was so kind and lovely.
I had a wonderful time!
Food and service were fabulous! First time I have LOVED trout! Have ordered in Canada and other places that bragged about their trout and never been impressed until last night. Was amazing and will be back again soon! Crab cake also fantastic!
We had the best time for our pre-wedding dinner. The service was outstanding. Food was amazing. Awesome night on that rainy Tuesday.
Oysters and mussels were quite good, but other dishes fell flat. My sea bass was particularly underwhelming. The interior could also use updates (drapes perhaps?) as some as the glass views look out onto a parking garage or shoddy nearby buildings.....who wants a glass view of a parking garage, it's not the riverfront. While the food was priced similarly to surrounding restaurants, the "value" wasn't there for what we had.
Excellent food an dservice; great spot and will return. Close azul tequila was perfect pairing.
Felt like I had made a great find! Food and service were terrific! Will plan a return visit soon.
Very good experience and one of the yummiest Trouts ever!
Very disappointing. Seafood was bland and watery, including the stone crabs. Oysters were not cold. Salmon crudo was so bad we sent it back. The shrimp cocktail was great. It had been about 7 years since our last visit. No need to go back.
We had an 8:30 reservation for our anniversary. We were not offered a table until 8:45, and the table was in the bar area. We chose to wait for a table in the dining room. Ten minutes later we were offered another table, but it too was in the bar area (not sure why considering we refused the 1st one). We were finally seated at 9:10. This put a damper on our experience, but the server was amazing and was nice enough to bring us a couple of glasses of Cava (not Champagne) to make amends.
The quality of the seafood was great, and we enjoyed our oysters and appetizers (chowder, hamachi and shrimp bruschetta). My husband enjoyed mussels as his entree, and I had shrimp and squid gnocchi. I just found the gnocchi entree to be a little bland but it was excellent quality seafood and preparation.
Would go back again
The food at GT fish was prepared nicely with unique flavor in the sauces. We had a manger come around and check on us a couple of times, which I appreciate. The ambiance was minimal with open tables, noisy, and packed close to the adjacent table. We had our 10 year old daughter with us and there was almost nothing on the menu for her. She had a crab leg and french fries. My wife had the 3 salmon dish and I had the trout. Both of these dishes were tasty and served ala cart.
I felt for what we had, meal wise, it was overpriced.
Some of the finest quality seafood in Chicago and prepared in unique ways. It's a few notches above your typical oyster/seafood bar.
The food was okay, but pricey for what it was. Service was very good. You very much feel like you are sitting in a crowded, noisy bar instead of a restaurant.
Beautiful spot with fantastic oysters. Had a martini that was perfect. The smoked fish platter was incredible. Alex took great care of us.
We had an amazing experience from the moment we walked into the door. First, we were seated (as requested) in a cozy, corner booth area. Second, our server was out of this world - knowledgeable on food and wine, impeccable on timing, polite, professional and clearly interested in making our experience enjoyable. Third, the food was utterly fantastic.. Appetizers (oysters on the half-shell, shrimp bruschetta, devil egg w/ smoked salmon and caviar, and crab cake (best ever eaten)). For dinner, we chose the Salmon entree and Gnocchi with Shrimp and Squid. Both wonderful. Why stop there when you can order a Chocolate Cake my husband rated as top 5 in his life -- says a lot given his love for chocolate, and a wonderful Tawny Port. If we were forced to find a complaint, we'd suggest additional beer options. My IPA lover husband, found the menu limited.. an itsy-bitsy piece of constructive criticism. All in all-wonderful! We'll be back!
It was great
The food is as good as ever. Unfortunately the service is not on par with the food.
Took a group of 6 for business dinner and it was a great time,we will return. The food was awesome!
Excellent service! Food was delicious. My dining partners deemed the oysters “outstanding.” Noise level a little too loud for us, but they moved us immediately upon request and were very gracious. They did not rush us, so it was a lovely long, relaxed, and enjoyable dinner.
Always treated well at GT. Appreciate the menu adjustment for low-sodium diet and the excellent guidance on wine selection. Food was tops, but salmon a little underdone for our tastes. We’ll be back.
Great food and outstanding service. The chocolate dessert was amazing.
We were in town for a good dining experience with friends. The staff and food was incredible. Amazing hospitality, staff worked as a team and made it a special night.
Dinner with friends. We dined in the Whale Room, very cool but disconnected from the hustle and bustle of the main dining room.
We had so much fun.
The owner and my husband had a great time discussing bourbon and scotch.
This was our second time there and we really wanted to love it just as much as the first, but it is just hard for us to recommend this place after this last experience. We ordered a fish dish off the menu and then after our first course came we were informed the kitchen ran out of the fish. We decided to pick something else off the menu we we were not really that excited about. They tried to make up for the missing dish by giving us a side of broccoli, however when the check came they charged us for the side dish. After some conversation that we didn't actually order the side dish that came, they took it off the check. Bear in mind, this all happened after we waited 25 minutes for our table (even though we had confirmed reservations). It was just a weird night and its was our anniversary. I just feel like the polite thing that should have been done when they tried to give us something they charged us for would be to take off the dish that we ended up ordering when they were out of the first dish. We ate and drank enough on the bill it seems like that gesture would have gone a little further. We don't normally scrutinize the bill but the way things went my husband thought to do it and I think it's a good thing.
Poor wine list!!
We celebrated our 21st anniversary at GT Fish and Oyster. What a delight. We were greeted with glasses of Champagne and a warm welcome. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the crab cake and the mussels. We will be back very soon.
Our server rushed us and felt very cold. One of our guests ordered lobster bisque and he brought out clams chowder. When we told him we had actually ordered the lobster he tried to tell us that we were wrong and ordered clam chowder.
Great place I enjoyed it with my wife for our Anniversary
Excellent business dinner. Great food with solid service.
This is an excellent place for dinner. The staff did a great job to take care of me. Definitely get the smoked fish platter. It is excellent!!
The happy hour oyster selection was outstanding as to quality and price!
Dinner fish was excellent. I'll be back for more.
