The service was fantastic, but the food was horrific. The lobster bisque was absolutely not edible, the pasta and chicken inside of it had a very stale flavor that left you wanting to drink gasoline to get the taste out of your mouth. Absolutely terrible food.
Pizza was bland. Not much flavor.
Server ignored us. No refil on the tea. long wait for our check (another table came in that was ordering lots of alcohol so he seemed to want to take care of them instead of us).
The food has really gone downhill. It’s the quality of a frozen dinner. The Parmesan fries are disgusting, the protein portion on the veal dish is minuscule, and the pasta is sloppy and overcooked. Hadn’t been there in a long time and it seems pretty bad. Facility is dirty, too. I’m done - no reason to ever go back. There are places trying much harder than this to actually be good.
My expectations were higher than what was actually the case. The food was basic Italian, not much originality or flavor. The ambiance was just a large big room, most Italian restaurants have small quaint areas. Food was less quality than an Olive Garden, but about the same price. Drinks were very weak. A very casual place, but not what I expected with the fancy name. Your local Italian restaurant would be far better. Not many menu choices, just basic stuff.
Good service and food, surprisingly out if meatballs, and a nice atmosphere.
Delicious food and drink! Will definitely be back.
Great place to eat! Our waiter was awesome! Kept us entertained! Highly recommend!
Always great food, drinks and service!
The service and food were great. Wonderful atmosphere.
Waiter James was awesome. Food was excellent.
This was our second visit and giving another try. Food and menu are very limited, food was cold, nothing more then tomato sauce with seafood and angel hair pasta. A typical Feritta owned restaurant. Packaged and nothing unique or a WOW. Purely a blah dinner! We won’t be going back since we have better choices. Manager was nice helping me find the cork to our wine bottle for a keepsake since the bartender wasn’t very helpful.
Service was terrific and the food was delicious. Thanks!!
Very disappointed, as it seems things have changed at Grotto’s. Upon arrival and in going directly to the hostess desk, no one ever acknowledge me. The bartender saw me, and two different wait staff, and nothing, not even a hello and someone will be with me in a minute. After standing there for an extended Have a good time!, luckily the other two guests that I invited, came over to get me.
The first waiter did not provide correct information regarding the menu, he forgot to bring the glass of wine my friend ordered, then he brought over another guy as advised it was time fir his break. When the 2nd waiter asked if we needed anything, I shared that my friend ordered wine, but it was never brought over.
For many years, I went to Grotto’s at River Oaks and on Westheimer, including booking several private events. Each visit to the Woodlands location, the service has been poor, as it seems I always get a waiter that really doesn’t show any confidence in the menu, and in providing caring customer service.
I left feeling bad for suggesting the restaurant.
The portions were large for us. We were stuffed and plenty to take home. Food was yummy. People were mostly casually dressed and it was "energetic" (not a quiet, romantic place).
Pizzas ESPECTACULARES, buena carta de Vinos, los Ravioles al Vodka con camarones SENSACIONALES !
Don't get me wrong the place is great food is great the wine was great the service was great once you got it it seemed like we had to wait a very long time before we finally got a decent waiter and almost seem like we were forgotten
We always enjoy this restaurant, great food, atmosphere, and location.
It was busy but server forgot to give us water when asked for it... I liked my food but the rest of my party didn’t. It was crowded so it was loud.
My family has been going here for years. We love this place. Great menu! Hard to choose what to get. Great ambiance and location for business meetups, friends, family, and celebrations. A great place for real estate meetings with clients as well.
Overall experience was good. Server seemed miffed that the full group did not arrive on time so that was annoying.
Asked for our favorite server James and they ignored the request. It was even in the open table request. He had open tables and they just rushed us thru. Very very disappointed. After I noted the mistake before we even ordered, it was “ sorry”. Let’s just say I didn’t expect that level of antipathy at one of Tillman’s restaurants.
We had a great time waiter gave some of the best service I’ve ever had and really new the menu also it was nice to have an Italian waiter at an Italian restaurant made it all the BETTER !!!!
Lovely meal out on the patio
We arrived earlier than our reservation, but the staff was very nice and sat us at a nice table. We haven't been out to eat in a long time, because of the pandemic. We really enjoyed eating at Grotto. The service and food was excellent! We loved the artichoke appetizer!
First time Dinning here. Will definitely return. Everything was great. Truly enjoyed the experience
Went there for a dinner before the Woodland Marathon; Used Open Table to make reservations which was easy and a good call. We didn't have appetizers but the salad and our main course was fresh and very flavorful. The wine was a standard pour. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Would definitely go back to the Grotto again
Good food, great service, superb happy hour
Didnt get seated where requested for special evening. No lasagna at 7pm. Said we make one pan and when it runs out, it runs out. Supposed to be upscale but many were in Jeans and tshirts. Ruined the ambiance. Place isnt the same.
In their defense, everyone is off but the service usually is so spot on. I think they were still in recovery mode.
Great food, drinks and service
Great meal and service! Highly recommend! Thank you Grotto!
Food was fast food quality. Not even as “good” as Olive Garden. Wait staff could have cared less that we were there. Food came out unfinished and we wait 10 minutes for a slab of chicken breast to come out before we could eat. They didn’t even bother to cut the darn breast up.
Was great. Staff friendly and informative
My wife and I have eaten at Grotto for about five years. We have found the food very good, the waitstaff attentive and the atmosphere conducive for eating and visiting.
Is a chain restaurant, from the Landry’s group.
This location is ok, but nothing special.
They need to be much more friendly with the service.
You are in the hospitality business.
Food average.
I’m a Landry’s club member and good and friendly service must be a constant.
Birthday celebration excellent service
I arrived for my reservation and could quickly tell that they were very busy with large parties. Both banquet rooms were full and the main area was full, although maintained socially distance seating. I was seated promptly and enjoyed a nice meal. The manager walked by and introduced himself. I thanked him for great service during a busy time
Matt is always attentive to our table. He knows what we like and he makes going to Grotto a great dining experience.
Grotto is one of my favorite restaurants in The Woodlands and usually I have a great experience but this one was not one of them. Our server was not attentive at all. It took over 10 minutes for him to come to our table initially and then there were always large gaps between his coming and going. I had to flag him down 3 times throughout the evening. My wife's food was cold when it arrived (pizza). I do not recommend their Italian Old Fashioned if you are an Old Fashioned drinker. It was disgusting. I had to have the bill corrected after being charged for something that was suppose to be free, then had to flag the server down again to get my itemized receipt. We haven't been out to eat in a while because of the pandemic and it was a real bummer that this evening was less than satisfactory based on service.
we will definitely return to this location! Excellence service.
