Pleasant, old fashioned Italian at relatively reasonable prices, but no "locals' discount." Service was very good, friendly and efficient. Given it's traditional, southern Italian style, I tried the veal parm that was four nice, smallish cutlets with generous cheese and sauce plus a moderate amount of angel hair pasta. It was very good. My wife had some shell-like pasts (I can't recall) with pancetta in a cream sauce that, like the veal, was not great but better than average. We first split a beet salad that was very fresh, but the dressing was pale.
I would not go out of my way to eat at Grotto, but, if I found myself at or near the Golden Nugget, and felt like old fashioned Italian, Grotto fits the bill.
Wonderful experience for my husband and I!!!
The waitress was helpful and nice. The food was wonderful. Best experience.
Great food, service and atmosphere
We come here EVERY time we are in Vegas! Top notch restaurant and staff!
Good food and service, you won't go wrong eating here.
Excellent food service atmosphere and reasonable prices
Food was excellent! Waiter seemed over-taxed so service wasn't great on drinks.
the food was very good... service good... there was not a lot of attention giving but the food was great
took 20 minutes to get our waiter to take our order, another 15 minutes to getour drinks, then didnt bother to come back to check on the food, we had to ask another worker for another set of utensils because our server kept "forgetting" it even after he brought our food.
A bit loud as the restaurant is near the gambling machines. The food was decent. The desserts were great.
Our pizza was great
Food and service was great. Varied menu beautiful, delicious desserts
Always a must when I’m in Vegas! Try the spaghetti and meatballs and chopped salad. Don’t forget peach Bellini!
Excellent food! The stuffed mushrooms are an absolute must have. They will leave you delirious! The Calamari app was perfectly fried, crisp and tender; amazing as well. Healthy portions and "real deal" bread leave you more than satisfied!
The service was horrible. Three of us were served cold food. My roasted chicken ravioli had no chicken to be found. It was like one big blob of pasta with sauce on it...sent it back.
Really too bad, as downtown Las Vegas has limited dinner spots near Fremont Street. Save your money and gamble! Better odds there
Never a bad experience here. Always good food and great service. I perform at the Golden Nugget and often meet friends here before a show. Everyone seems to enjoy it.
We were seated next to the pool and it was very pleasant atmosphere. We ordered a couple of pizzas, and spaghetti and all of it was delicious. The beard and oil served pre-dinner was fabulous.
Server was nice, seemed as though he had too many tables to engage in conversation.
My mom and I went here for our first dinner in Vegas and it was wonderful. We split a bottle of wine and the food was very enjoyable. We would suggest this place for those who are willing to share food as the protion sizes were more than enough for one person. We highly suggest sharing the Lobster Bisque Soup and an entre (we had gotten individual entres and my mom could not finish hers) so you have room for a dessert. We tried the "vanilla cake with strawberry" (not the real name) and it was amazing. I only wish I had not been so full from the soup and our two main dishes to enjoy it even more!
We love this restaurant. We go here every Time we come to Vegas. Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. Our waiter Artie was stupendous!
Haven’t been for a few years. Service was not so good she forgot my salad, didn’t check with us as often as we saw with others. Dinner was rather mediocre
Everything was expected and quality was top-notch.
Two minor complaints.
I ordered the Veal Parm.
1. It came with angel hair pasta, not my favorite but ok. However the amount of pasta was to say the least a drop-in-the-bucket. I mean really?
Pasta is CHEAP folks! Twice as much would still be too little.
Grotto, there's an "old" expression in the restaurant industry "Give them the Pickle!" If you are too YOUNG to understand the meaning, look it up and learn.
Suggestion: Go with fettuccini or ziti as a side and give a substantial amount.
2. This is an ITALIAN Restaurant! Espresso should be served with AT LEAST a lemon rind and hey through in a small biscotti! (See about the Pickle above!)
Angela was a phenomenal waitress! She catered to our requests, had an outgoing personality and made our dinner enjoyable. We would come back just to visit her but the food was delicious also! We had a great view of the Golden Nugget pool, as well.
2nd time I’ve eaten at the grotto, love their food. Only thing bad was my guest ordered gluten free spaghetti and they brought ziti instead which is fine as long as it’s still gluten free but the pasta was also not cooked all the way.
So, so good! The combination of flavors was perfect! We'll definitely be back!
Awesome food and great service. Would highly recommend!
Veal is the standout ingredient here. If Keith is working, ask for him. He's terrific.
What can I say? It's Italian! The menu has a very good variety of choices. My husband had a Caesar salad that was authenticate and included anchovies (which is how he assesses a good Caesar salad. He enjoyed the chicken parmesan of which he is also very picky. I had a delicious seafood and pasta dish accompanied by Chianti. We did, however, see some pizza dishes being delivered to other patrons and it looked pretty amazing and will be on the list of items to share when we return. This restaurant has something for everyone.
Really loved the lobster bisque.
Enjoyed the table by the pool.
Missed the dessert you used to have. It was a chocolate mousse with vanilla mousse. Hope you bring it back soon!
The service is fantastic. Pasta dishes were fresh and flavorful. The pizza is the perfect thin crust with fresh ingredients. And the peach Bellini is a must!
I had dined many times at Grotto bar for happy hour, but this was our first time dining full service. We requested a table with pool view which was lovely. Very good wine per glass list with fair prices and generous pours. Very ample servings of authentic pasta dishes. The Caesar salad was also amazing. Waiter was attentive and friendly, without being disruptive. Great place for dinner if you are on vacation or entertaining visitors to Vegas as you can then venture easily to all things Fremont. Also the Golden Nuggett still has free valet. Overall it was a very enjoyable dinner and we will definitely dine again. One tip: The same pizzas are on happy hour in bar area for half off, plus great drink specials. We are locals and love all the food options in the Golden Nuggett. The Grotto is authentic Italian dining, but somewhat casual, no tablecloth/convenient, right off gaming floor. Great calamari! ( If you like crispy, thin crust pizza tell them crispy. Stone oven pizza is phenomenal, but toppings can weigh it down and waiter/kitchen will be happy to accommodate your request.)
Our server was working hard, but unable to keep up. Possibly understaffed for a busy holiday. Waited approximately 8 mins to be greeted, approximately 10 mins for bar drinks, 14 for salad. I choose to order the daily special, Sea Bass served on top of smashed potatoes, potato chunks were hard (raw). I also weren’t made aware of red food coloring used on smashed potatoes. And the sauce over the fish, way to thick to be served with such delicate taste and textured fish.
As a last minute reservation, it looked promising. Nice ambiance. However, the food was cold when it finally came out. The manager apologized, took a chunk off our bill but even at that, we left disappointed in the experience.
The Grotto is a must on my list every trip to Las Vegas! The entire menu is fantastic.
Fun to people and shark watch. Very nice waiter and food was great.
Love The Grotto in the Golden Nugget Fremont Street Las Vegas! Usually try to get there for one or two meals while in town. Pasta is excellent, Caesar salad is great (this time they were a tad heavy on the dressing) and the bread with dinner is awesome.
Went for lunch one day and my wife really wanted mac & cheese, and even though it isn’t Italian (or on the menu), the chef came out and talked with me and whipped up a home made version of one; she loved it. Thank you Grotto!!
Steven our waiter suggested a pasta dish.... very good.
Our return to Old Las Vegas. Glass fish tank interesting. We stop here each trip. Timeless
