Grotto Ratings and Reviews
It was okay. The portions were really big, especially for the appetizers. The flavors of my main dish were somewhat bland, but it was good for how quick we were moving and how late it was. Made a reservation for 8:15, got there at 8 and they sat us right away even though it seemed really busy.
This restaurant needs help in the kitchen and on the floor. I have eaten in this establishment at least five other times. But this recent visit is the first in two years. And I must say it was down right awful. It seemed as though who ever were preparing our food didn’t care much for what they were doing.
Our food server had a few good moments but for the most part her tables were far from each other so she was stretched out and could not give us attentive service.
The food was delicious. The lobster bisque was great, and the gorgonzola pasta was amazing. I was a little disappointed that the view of the shark tank from the restaurant is not as spectacular as the website led me to believe but the remaining ambiance was nice.
Excellent antipasti plate! The bread and dip are great too. Had I not been starving I would have stopped after the appetizers. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious. The meatballs were large and had great flavor. The rigatoni salsicca was bland - garlic cream sauce was lacking flavor and the sausage was boiled giving it an undesirable texture. The service was lacking but we were eating at 9pm on Saturday night.
All said, the antipasti and meatballs are highly recommended! Be sure to get a table facing the outside/pathways as the people watching was fantastic!
Moderately priced Italian Restaurant. The service was very good and attentive. Amazing desert tray. We were seated at a nice table overlooking the pool and large shark aquarium. Very nice place for dinner in The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino on Fremont Street in Downtown Old Vegas.
I cannot tell you how happy we were to dine at this gem! The best Italian I've had, probably ever. My girlfriend, who makes a killer eggplant was blown away how good it was. Every staff member we encountered was beyond nice. We sat at the bar (being the barflys we are!) and the bartender was excellent!! Will definitely return!!
First, our server Denise was the best! Friendly and informative, but not intrusive. She is genuine and offered great advice on the food and sightseeing. She seemed to really enjoy her work and the food the prepared.
The food: I had the Veal Parmigiana: it was authentic and tasted like it was made fresh. 2 thumbs up. My wife had the Penne with Shrimp in a cream lemon sauce. She said it was very good, and was refreshing. The sauce, being cream based, was not heavy. Shrimp seemed fresh (not frozen).
We paired with a nice wine. Overall, we had a great meal. Denise was excellent, and we received our food very quickly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone having a night out in downtown Las Vegas or in Fremont street. Ask to sit in Denise's section; you won't be disappointed.
The server Denise dropped food on me twice without an apology. Kitchen did not add chicken to a dish she went and got some and came back took a fork and started flinging it onto the plate. A piece hit the table and she picked it up and flung it on the plate. Took close to an hour to get a drink. No refills. The lasagna was terrible. Avoid this restaurant at all cost.
