Great local feel restaurant. Meatball appetizer is top flight.
Menu has an item for every palate.
Food was great. Waiter could have done a better job. Didn’t come around much and we had to ask for more bread and a dessert menu.
Food was delicious. Server was not very attentive.
Wasn’t the best we have had. Food served was not what my wife ordered but she ate it anyway. I guess everybody deserves an off day on occasion. It will be a while until we return because of this experience. Shame because she is a Presidents club level member and loves the Landry’s restaurants.
Very good! Waiter and overall experience was a little slow... had to continuously remind him we were ready for the next part of the dining experience but that was fine.
Excellent presentation and friendly staff
The food was great and the service was excellent. I highly recommend asking for Melissa as your server. She is wonderful!
The temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. We moved tables to avoid vents , did not help.
We finally moved outside to the patio, very windy but at least tolerable. Unfortunate.
I loved the Grotto. The service was wonderful from the bar to the dining area. We all enjoyed the food especially the Pollo Francese. Outstanding taste. The wood burning oven was a great touch for the pizzas. They were great too. Cocktails were delicious as well.
Start to finish we enjoyed this dinner. The only thing I would not recommend is the Fettucine with mushrooms, prochiuto and chicken in a Parmesan cream sauce. I normally love this kind of dish however the mushroom flavor was overwhelming and not used as an accent. They were very gracious in taking it back and replacing it with the Pollo Francese which was delightful! All in all a great experience we’d highly recommend.
This was my first time here. It was a lovely evening and Chris, the server, made excellent suggestions that helped me find my favorite dish. I will definitely consider going back to dine!
I love how cheerful and fun the staff is! Whatever you want or need! They are on top of it. Love this place and the good I always excellent!
Everything was perfect!
My husband and I have been coming to The Grotto for almost 20 years. We have been four times in the past six weeks. We love the 'look' of the restaurant. Our server Melissa, the past two times has been wonderful. The problem has been the food. The quality is just not the same as it used to be. We went to The Grotto for Valentine's Day. Specifics...our caesar salad was limp and soggy like it had been made the day before. I had the risotto special with shrimp. The shrimp were nice, the risotto was good not great. My husband had the rigattoni and it was not very warm and there was very little sauce. Our dessert, the coconut pie looked beautiful, but it was just a good piece of pie not a 'wow' piece of pie. It lacked in flavor. My husband and I were so disappointed. The Grotto is close to where we leave, is a beautiful restaurant, but the food quality needs to be improved.
Consistently good food and service. Always a favorite spot!
A great meal. The service was really good. We celebrated a birthday and they were lovely to sing, bring cake, and make her feel special.
Delicious, as always, and the perfect venue for cultivating a new business relationship.
It’s always nice to go eat there! Food and service is always excellent!
Excellent food and service as always!
We go here a decent amount because my son loves the pizza, it has reservations and the food and service are generally good. My last visit was a lunch on Saturday. Two kids has pasta with meatballs. The meat balls were burned yet lukewarm at best. Seemingly they were left over from the previous night and reheated. They appeared and tasted that way. I had a roasted chicken that definitely was left over from some other time period. It was mealy, and the skin wilted as though it had been refrigerated and reheated. It was pretty inedible. It’s usually pretty solid if unspectacular food. This trip the food was simply horrible.
Service and food was exceptional ! Our reservation was honored in every way!
Great dinner, great bellinis. We had an outstanding waitress named Melissa. She did not hover and gave us time with no rushing.
Everything was great except we had to wait 20 minutes even though we had reservations. Once we finally were seated the staff at the table was great as was the food.
Try grilled veggies platter! Spinach and mushrooms are simply awesome!
Client wanted a salad but had too many choices. He finally went with the Waiter's recommendation of the chicken salad with extra dressing.
I went with the veal San Petiero. It was delicious. I will probably order it again. A little coffee didn't hurt with the complimentary cookies after the entree.
The food is overpriced and tastes similar to Olive Garden. We were charged $66 for two appetizers ($11/person). I was underwhelmed.
We went on a Saturday night and sat at one of the bar tables in the front of the restaurant. Alfredo was our waiter and he treated us royally. Great food and great service, wine by the glass reasonable. We will come again.
The service and food was magnificent! Everything was wonderful!
Service is good. Good reputation in town. It’s exterior presentation and the prime location misled me to believe it was an upscale Italian Restaurant. However, once inside, and after sitting at the bar while waiting for our table, we were able to observe the following: 1. Nice casual place. 2. Very friendly and prompt service. 3. Fair cuisine (ordered fried calamari and in my experience they were below average in Houston). 4. Bar is ok (ordered a dirty Martini and it was also below average for HOU standards). 5. Food was ok (spinach pasta was harder than al dente). In summary, if expecting all the above, you will be content. But keep in mind this could very well be your SUPER OLIVE GARDEN in The Galleria area.
This restaurant was fantastic. The food was excellent, the service was wonderful and they treated us very, very well. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff made it particularly special. Thank you very much for a lovely evening!
Everyone was nice, the ambience was great and the food was amazing! The Birthday girl loved being sang too and she especially love all of special attention that the staff showed her on her special day!
Thanks soooo much for a funtastic evening Grotto Staff, it was sincerely appreciated :)
Great food .. great service
My clients ordered the salads with Lobster bisque. They enjoyed the dishes. I ordered the veal with sautéed spinach with a cup of lobster bisque.
Will be back....maybe for the great pizza next time.
Casual, yet elegant dining with great service and an above average atmosphere.
Our first time there and we loved it. Great food and service!!!
I felt that the portion I received was very small. Maybe it was just the dish I ordered, which was Linguine Pescatore, but it was tiny! The service was excellent! Everyone was very nice, and we enjoyed our meal immensely.
Felt mislead by website and people answering phone when asked what type of celebration they would have for New year's. Expected something completely different. Disappointed to say the least. We had to make do with situation and a helpful server that cared. Apparently nothing was really planned...
Just a lunch to celebrating end of the year
Grottos is one of our best places for lunch and diner.
Waiter Mr Rafael gives a remarkable dining experience with his recommendation assembling a delicious fish plate for my wife.
Thanks and Happy New Year !!!
