Awesome service and food!
good Italian food, good value, cool ambiance. suitable for brunch or dinner.
Great place for yummy Italian food! The Short Rib Gnocchi is phenomenal! The wine was good too but a little pricey. I am also not much of a cocktail drinker but the Ruby Rose is pretty great! Also, great atmosphere.
Lovely restaurant and decor, great service, and very delicious food. Smaller portions but quality ingredients. We did need to pay for parking in a lot across the street, but that is par for the course when eating downtown. We dined with our two children ages 10 and 7 and one enjoyed a cup of soup while the other enjoyed a freshly made pepperoni pizza. Nice enough that it was a special, delicious experience for our family before heading to see Aladdin at the Hobby, but casual enough for children and conversation. Loved the artichoke appetizer and the sirloin skewers. Yummy yummy yummy.
Excellent experience! Great place for a nice meal before an Astros' game.
Food and service were great. Will definitely have to go back.
Fabulous dinner for 8. Great service. Wonderful options for al. Soups were especially amazing. Pasta and shrimp were especially yummy. Pizza was great. Yummy desserts.
Good place for a tasty meal. The price was a bit high but worth it. Service was accurate and friendly.
Great neighborhood pasta joint.
Wonderful spot, went with a party of 8 (2 kids under 4 included) before a Sunday Astro's game. Easy reservations made through the OpenTable app and we walked right in. It wasn't busy, the food was fantastic, and the service was great. Will be back for sure!
Was a home game night for the Astros so the Grotto was busy and loud. Staff and servers were pressed so there were some waits for refills, etc. Caprese was average. Chicken Scallopini and pepperoni pizza were excellent. Desserts were rich and decadent.
Good choice for downtown dining. Nice menu. Variety allows for price and choices.
Great food and we love the decor. The desserts were wonderful. I love the Landry's Select Program as well.
We always enjoy The Grotto, whether it's this location or one of their others. Our server Meghan was extremely professional and polite. The entire staff seemed very skilled and well trained. Two managers checked on us. Very impressed with our experience.
Convenient to the GRB and that side of downtown. Really good food, friendly service and good value for the price. Ambiance is a bit cold just not romantic or warm if that is what you're seeking.
Great food and wine
The decor and ambiance of the restaurant were wonderful! Very pretty!
The food itself is just ok- dont expect wonderful Italian- but it is just fine for an average meal. The bar was wonderful!
Service was a bit slow which probably wouldn't be crucial unless you had to be somewhere - which we did. My food was way too spicy and there was not any mention of spice on the menu for this item. Pizza was fantastic though! Noise level is HIGH so don’t there on a first date.
Food was fabulous and the atmosphere was great. My only issue was that we had to send the sangria back because it was really bad (basically lightly colored water). They were very nice about it and everything else was great.
Awesome location and fun environment! Love the food and the ambiance - service was exceptional too!
Very crowded on a Saturday evening, after an Astros game.
Seated promptly, had a reservation. No empty tables. A few 8+ parties and kids
Mod to very loud
Food came on time, as well as drinks and dessert. Staff running to wait tables indoor and outdoor.
Food was great, taste and temperature
dessert was great too. good coffee.
will go back, though would choose a less crowded day
Yes, BUT, it depends on what you're looking for. From the online reviews, we were expecting a nice quiet date night. Reviews said this place was great for dates. It was full of drunk rowdy baseball fans wearing t-shirts, caps and shorts. It had boxing and baseball on the 2 TVs above the bar. The decibel level was possibly in the danger zone. that is not hyperbole, I had to shout to be heard across the table. We had a reservation, but were treated like walk ups, waited, then were led to a crappy booth right across from the bar TVs. Our waiter was hard working and pleasant, if not all that familiar with the menu. The sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding in every way. That salvaged an otherwise miserable evening. Food = 5, Ambience = 1.
The food was delicious. The server explained the pastas we were unfamiliar with. However, the wine order came out wrong.
Great atmosphere and service. The "small plate" menu items really are small! 12 fries and a few 3 inch skewers for my date. We had to stop by firehouse on the way home.
The Short Rib Gnocchi may have been the best pasta dish I've ever tried! Truly amazing.
Great location in downtown Houston with a great variety of excellent Italian food at a good value. It’s a bit noisy but there’s a good vibe.
Don’t hesitate to go! Pro tip: get the Carciofi!! You’ll thank me over and over!
Typical Landrys restaurant, location, location, overpriced high volume slop house. 21$ for 3 fork fills of pasta and 5 clams. Non existent service. Staff is high turnover burn and churn.
We were with friends that had never been to Grotto and they are excited to go back!
Great service and excellent food.
I love the Mussels in white wine sauce. It comes with delicious bread in the flavorful sauce. It’s listed as a small plate but I find it’s large enough for lunch meal. I order it every time I come here.
Usually this is one of my go to restaurants, today it was horrible. Hopefully it will be better next time.
Great food, great service. Had 4 small plates for two and we were good.
The arranciata and tortellini were AMAZING!
Good experience—I come there frequently & always enjoy it.
Good food, location and atmosphere, although i think it would be noisy if we were there later. service was slightly slow given we were there at 4:30pm and almost no one else was there. But overall, really, it was just fine.
food was excellent and service was very professional
We tried to get in on Memorial Day Monday and discovered they close at 9pm. Seems odd since they are right next to the Convention Center and downtown where many tourist congregate and like to eat late. We ended up there the next night. Good sized entrees. Dessert sampler was extra large.
Excellent entrees. Child size pasta dishes. Family loved the desert selection.
We love it-always an excellent experience! Fine food and friendly, hard-working staff
I always dine at The Grotto before games at Minute Maid Park. Service, food and drinks are all great.
