Grotto - Atlantic City Ratings and Reviews
Everything was good. I didn’t know the restaurant was on the casino floor. The main problem I had was with the maps app. The address is listed correctly on the open table app but when you get directed to the maps app for directions, the plot point on the map sent me to the middle of a neighborhood 1.2 miles away.
I have dined at Grotto before but only for happy hour, which I enjoyed. This was my first time having dinner. The experience was excellent. Our server, Conal was exceptional. Very courteous, polite, professional. The food was very good as well. We had the Penne Al Forno (it was a bit tad salty but might have been from the types of cheese - still very good) Lasagna and Pescatore (My mom doesn’t eat mussels so they substituted with more clams). So delicious and everything came out piping hot as food served should. It was a great experience. We will definitely visit again!
I read the reviews about Grotto and thought the only concern would have been the service. Since it was NYE I didn’t care if it took a while. That wasn’t the case. Service was good, waiter was nice bit the food was not good. I ordered the Rigatoni & eggplant and my husband had chicken Marsala. My dish was pitiful. The eggplant was so rough and over fried that it scratched my throat swallowing. The rigatoni plain sauce was fine. The chicken was fair small portion and nothing special. We told the waiter and he said he’ll let the chef know but didn’t offer me order a new dish which he should of. The best part of the meal was the dessert a Strawberry shortcake that was good. Other than that I’ll pass on the Grotto and stick with our original reservation at Dock’s in AC.
We had to change our reservation to later than planned. When we arrived there was a large party on the far side of the restaurant, several people at the bar a couple of 2 tops and a 4 top. We were seated right next to the 4 top (we also had 4 in our party). While we were there, a 6 top and 2 couples were seated near us. Our waiter was patient and gave great recommendations. The food was delicious from beginning to end. The desserts and wine list were excellent!
The food her was fantastic. We had the carpaccio for an appetizer and it was delicious. The Cesear salad was so good and my son had the meatball appetizer and he really enjoyed that. For dinner I had the rigatoni with fried eggplant and ricotta it was so good. The sauce was delicious I would totally go back and order that again. My husband had the pork chop and he said it was really good. The key lime pie for desert was a hit.
Food is very good but at the beginning the service had alot to be desired. We had to wait more than 40 min for our bread and water, didn't get anything until we asked a manager to come over. Been there before and was always happy with everything but this time everything could have been much better.
we were underwhelmed. This restaurant open and is in the center of the casino...very noisy and busy. Not very romantic but good for people watching. I ordered the osso bucco which could have cooked longer..it was disappointingly tough. My husband ordered the chicken parm..it was just ok.The portions were small. the bread basket consisted of exactly 2 pieces of bread and a package of bread sticks. no refills offered. The drinks were average and very pricey. $12 for a vodka on the rocks with olives.
Decided to give Grotto a try after reading positive online reviews. Great service, decent food, prices were reasonable considering it was in a casino. It was a bit noisy but the staff was able to find us a nice table. Food was tasty, we had a fun time. The Brian Wilson concert was great! If I was seeing another show at the casino I would return to Grotto.
My husband and I love this place for casual dining with good food and interesting menu selections. I wish they weren't ending lunchtime hours but I guess the market dictates that. The server was attentive but not intrusive and we certainly never felt rushed. Although a little pricey, casino dining always is. We will surely be back. Another plus is that the Golden Nugget provides free valet parking for dining patrons so just ask the server to validate your parking stub and you're good to go!
We have eaten dinner at The Grotto many times, beginning 'way back when the casino was still being renovated (fans of the under-rated TV series "Vegas," which was shot in the under-renovation Golden Nugget, will catch glimpses of The Grotto in the background in interior shots).
But I digress. We have NEVER gotten a bad meal here. The food is always perfectly cooked and flavorful. Some of the dishes are not exactly what you'd expect from the menu descriptions but are always delicious.
Service is always first-rate and friendly, but sometimes the wait to get your meal can be long-ish, even when not crowded.
Great food, good value for the money. Skip the horrendous hotel buffet and get a great dinner for about what you'd spend to stuff yourself with bad food at the buffet.
We asked questions about a specific item on the menu, even asked about the possibility of substituting one of the sides. The server brought out the wrong entree and then tried to blame it on us, saying we pointed to the wrong entree (even though we described the one we wanted with the sides it came with). The server brought one of the sides from the other entree to somewhat make up for the mistake, but we still ended up with the wrong meal as we didn't feel like waiting for the right one.
