Grille 3501 Ratings and Reviews
My wife's filet mignon was medium well on one side and medium rare on the other side and the sauce that came on it over powered the flavor of the steak which was only ok. My salmon was a little fishy tasting which always indicates that it isn't fresh. I have had tremendous salmon which cost less and no fishy flavor at all. Our waitress was nice but never told us the specials. We didn't know there were specials until we heard her telling them to the tables seated after us. We tried this place because of the 4+ rating but won't be going back anytime soon.
Table behind our group of 4 was extremely loud. Didn't appreciate their language either. Food was very good, but value is trending downward due to price hikes on the dinner and bar menus. It's visible the entree portions have been reduced by at least 20%. I'd rather dine in Phila. or NYC for the cost of the meal and beverages.
The salads were good. The bread was good. The rare tuna was stringy. Price was reasonable. It was a cold day by the end of lunch it was cold in the dinning room and I was wearing a sweater. We have eaten here several times but this was not our best experience.
I was in for dinner with friends right before the holidays it has been years since I've been here. Dinner was absolutely delicious so when I wanted to make lunch plans with my niece I suggested grill 3501 and lunch was just as delicious as dinner was I will be back in the very near future.
My husband and I stopped in for an Anniversary lunch. It was our first visit and we felt very relaxed. Our server was superb. Friendly staff was attentive without being overbearing. The food was surprisingly good for our area. The pricing was totally reasonable. We are looking forward to trying their dinner menu.
This is the second time this month that we have eaten here and had a table in an absolutely horrible spot. Early December, we had a table in the back that had tables on either side VERY close. Last night, we were the first table at the end of the entry hall as soon as you came into the dining room. Both times we had reservations, yet felt as though they were "squeezing us in".
Meh. Everything was just kind of... meh. The service was lovely, and our server, Gina, was excellent. Ambiance was all over the place— they aren’t quite sure what they want to be. We were between a family with a baby (a crying baby) and elderly folks on a double date and a sorority Secret Santa exchange so I’m not quite sure what occasion I would recommend this for. Everything, perhaps? Way overpriced for the food. The rib eye I ordered was extremely underwhelming for the $40+ charge. There are far better places in the area if you want to have a nice dinner.
We have been living here for over 5 years and much to our chagrin had never gotten around to trying Grille 3501 until this week. The menu was inventive, the staff warm (our waitress Ann was outstanding), the cocktail list was unique and the food was truly delicious and creatively flavored. We tried the octopus, tuna tartare and sweet potato/mushroom dumplings as appetizers. All solid. For entrees we had the veal cheeks (incredibly rich and flavorful), the ostrich (tender and flavorful) and the chilean sea bass (light with a great sear and delicious accompaniments)
Food was tasty, but service mediocre. Mentioned the chicken might be undercooked in one spot and server says “well I’m not going to stand here and determine if it s undercooked or not. It might be a pink spot.” He didn’t offer to put it back on the grille, just took it. In all fairness it was 3/4 done.
Think I’m done with this place. This is the third meal I’ve had there that’s been sub par. Maybe the chef is trying too hard to be *creative*, but yuck. The meals are far from how they’re described, and pretty unpalatable (sun dried tomatoes with smoked salmon?!) The service is lousy (entree served before salad?) and its a little too pricey for what you get. All desserts $9.? Not worth it.
Great tasting food clearly carefully prepared with top notch and fresh ingredients. Shared the Foie gras appetizer with my wife and we both agreed that the presentation and pairing of fruit and greens flavor with the duck was not like anything we had before. Outstanding. For entree's we had duck breast and veal cheeks. Both perfectly prepared. The seating in the loft area was a bit noisy with the bar below. It was tolerable and became quieter later as the bar cleared out some. Service was attentive and appropriate. We have dined at 3501 several times and have never been disappointed. It is truly a guarantee for a satisfyingly good dinner.
