We had a fabulous experience at Grill 23
Staff couldn’t do enough for us especially Steven who was fantastic!
The fish cake starter and Kobe cap steak stole the show for us. Great wine list and knowledgeable sommelier
Overall a perfect meal we would definitely return

An old school wood panelled steak house, but unusually for its type, a very bright and airy upstairs seating area. One of Boston's finest, excellent food, impeccable service and extensive wine list to suit all budgets.

Ladies, don’t go to Grill 23 alone.My wife is over 70 and was treated like crap today. We dine out over 200 times a year. I am out of town and she decided to go to Grill 23 alone.

Our experience on Easter was not the level that we have come to love at the Grill. We were seated in the wine room and although it was much quieter than the main dining room, the table behind us was too close.
I think because every seat in the restaurant was taken, the overall quality was not as good - both in service and in the food. The lobster appetizer was very small, and we never received a side plate so trying to cut it on a bed of ice chips was not positive. The crab cake had a very strong fish taste. The wait for the entree was very long. We had to ask for bread, then for bread plates, then for butter.
Again, this is the first time the Grill has not been terrific - yet I don't think I would go back on a holiday.

Hector was our server. He was helpful and considerate. We wanted to take our time, lingering over cocktails then dinner. He was on top of our needs without being overbearing or intrusive. A consummate professional. And the meal was up to indeed exceeded anticipation. Always wonderful.

It was a great dinner, the service was outstanding
My best friend and I brought my 10 year old daughter for her first “proper” steak experience. The service, food and ambience made this such a memorable experience for us all! Hands down Best of Boston!!!!!

We’ve been in Boston for 6 nights, and this was our favorite dining experience!! Great atmosphere and presentation of food, drinks and wine. They have an awesome wine list with many vintage wines to choose from. I had the crab cake, filet, and potato gratin. Highly recommend!!

Our first visit to this restaurant. Love the classic atmosphere. We were graciously greeted at the door and the excellent service continued throughout our meal. We had the Caesar salad and seafood sampler. Everything was fantastic. Especially the ice cold martinis! Our server Tray was a 10, helpful and pleasant. The finale Creme brûlée was delicious. We will be back!

It’s pricier than I would normally spend on dinner but it was a special occasion & the food was great. Best filet mignon and macaroni & cheese I’ve ever had. Definitely with it

Fabulous steaks and sides. Cocktails are creative, if that's what you like, or are expertly crafted classics. The Kobe beef steak is probably the best steak in Boston, likely in New England. A perfect blend of the highest quality beef (the fat pieces pop in your mouth) and careful cooking. Grill 23's interpretation of medium rare is less cooked than most other restaurants. If you usually order medium rare, suggest medium and you'll be thrilled.

Grill 23 & Bar seated my party of six at a table in a beautiful private room. I appreciated the special touch as I did not specifically ask for it while making the reservation. The wine is excellent and food delicious. The portions are large and filling. They served us our salads in portions split up for people across the table. I found the staff and service very attentive.

We have been coming to Grill 23 for many years and every time we have a great experience. I had the 100 day aged RibEye and it is always superb!! I would highly recommend Grill23 !!

Great atmosphere for a fun Friday night out, the food was fantastic, the king crab is a must here and the service was excellent will definitely come back.

Grill 23 has always been my favorite restaurant in Boston so I was excited to plan a special dinner here. Unfortunately, this experience did not live up to my prior experiences. I really hate to complain, but this dinner had been so anticipated, I wanted to share my experience. One member of our party was served a completely different cut than she had ordered so had to wait to eat until everyone else was almost finished. I was served a steak overcooked despite being very clear to emphasize I wanted my steak to be rare. Halfway through the meal we realized I had been given my other friend’s steak which she had ordered more done. Because she isn’t accustomed to eating rare steak, she spent the rest of the night sick to her stomach. The only saving grace with this experience was that the server offered discounts for getting the order wrong, but I’m still hesitant to make a return trip.

Overpriced for an everyday meal you can get anywhere else. We had extremely noisy groups surrounding us, that made our meal unenjoyable at best. It took 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged by our waitress. The couple next to us arrived 15 minutes later than us, were served about 45 minutes before us, and the manager came over to apologize to them at least 4 times for the delay and even comped their meals. We came for my birthday and it was less than a stellar experience, considering how highly this restaurant came I was shocked by the treatment we received and really everything about the entire restaurant.

Sat in Siberia - upstairs and in the back. $800 in wine and the bottles were tired despite being v good vintages so poorly sourced or poorly stored, either way despite a stellar wine list on paper didn’t come through when the bottles showed up

Our first visit here.
Maitre d’ was excellent.
We arrived right at our reservation time and wanted to have a cocktail at the bar prior to seating. His response “of course, have 2 if you’d like”. We felt welcomed and relaxed.
Food was to die for. We recommend the twin filets, scalloped potatoes, and garlic broccoli w/ red pepper flakes.
Waiter was a bit rushed because a large group had sat at his station at the same time, but overall he was friendly and attentive.
We are huge Abe & Louie’s fans and now regard Grille 23 as very comparable. Especially loved the seating venue as compared to A&L’s .... no “sitting on top of each other”.
Will definitely return!

Always a great special dinner. It is certainly not inexpensive, but everything is consistently outstanding. One of are all time favorite restaurants. I had the New York Prime with Au Poivre topping, my wife had the veal chop. Both cooked to our liking. Great Black Forest Cake for desert.

Arguably the best chop house in Boston. The steaks can't be beat. My favorite is the dry aged NY. Like buttah! The seafood is fantastic. Wife always orders salmon, which is prepared to perfection.Never a problem with service. From valet parking to filling water glasses one will never be disappointed.

The Grill 23 is our family's "occasion restaurant" and they did not disappoint us with this experience. It was my son's 25th birthday and we celebrated over great seafood appetizers and two perfect steaks. We will be back.
Perhaps it was an off-night, but this was a disappointing dinner at Grill 23. We were seated at arguably the worst table in the restaurant (next to the bar, a service entry, and a food station), surrounded by very large and loud parties, and our service was painfully slow after we ordered drinks. I've been to this restaurant many times, but this time was a bad experience. Disappointing for a high-end restaurant.

I think the chicken could have been juicier. My friend’s crab cake was not lumpy at all, and my other friend’s filets were not cooked to the same temp, and both were undercooked from what he ordered. The clam chowder, mashed potatoes, and dessert were all amazing. The service was very good, no issues there. Overall it wasn’t bad but I feel a little disappointed after spending as much as I did.
