Outstanding service & delicious food! Perfect spot to celebrate a milestone birthday.
Wonderful atmosphere, great waiters, good food. New broccoli item is wonderful. Entrees were a little slow arriving.
Had not been there in 17 years and it was as good as I hoped for; definitely will returtn and not wait so long. Martini was first rate, steak was delicious and perfectly prepared, as were the salads and side dishes. Also, highly recommend the coconut cake for dessert. It's expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
Perfect evening again seating at the upstairs bar. Impeccable and friendly service.
If you like mushroom the gnocchi are a must, SO good!
I wanted a good steak. I got it. Meat was outstanding.
Appetizers were very average though. Tuna tartare was tasteless, french onion soup was barely warm.
Service was very good and friendly, while general restaurant atmosphere was odd. Restaurant interior requires renovation: flimsy chairs and worn out chairs, cheap office style ceilings.
This was my first time to this restaurant and everything about it was wonderful. The ambiance was perfect, my husband could have a conversation and actually hear one another even though the place was packed too! Our waiter was great, very personable and hilarious....also we never once felt rushed or bothered but at the same time he was very attentive. To top it off both of our meals were excellent, one of the best meals out we have had in a while. Overall five star experience at a five star restaurant. I look forward to the next time we can get in there. Ps. This was our ten year anniversary and we talked about making this a regular anniversary restaurant :)
Our steaks were very good, however the calamari did not taste fresh and the lobster in the mac n' cheese didn't taste fresh either. Overall not at the level I previously recall and not to our expectations.
We are frequent visitors to steakhouses. We've tried national chains and independents. We've tried East Coast and West Coast. We've tried US and Europe. Grill 23 rates very high on our list. This was our first visit, and we will visit here again next time we're in Boston. The food and service is top notch. The chocolate cake was tasty, but a bit dry. The bartender certainly knows how to make a drink. But most importantly, the chef really knows how to cook a steak.
Our party of 10 thoroughly enjoyed our experience Saturday evening. From the greeting inside to our fabulous waiter cooper. All foods from chowder to entrees was on point. Just a great overall dining experience! Compliments to the kitchen staff and chef. Wonderful! We’re anticipating our return. Thanks. Ciao for now!
A fantastic dining experience. The only issue would be having a reservation at 5 and not being able to at least sit at the cocktail bar until 5 . The cocktail bar should be opened a half hour earlier that way people that show up 15 minutes early for their reservations are not turned away back into 30 degree weather . Other than that everything was great.
The classiest steakhouse in Boston. With a magnificent wine list and delectable side dishes to pair with steaks that up the stakes, Grill 23 is the premier dining experience for an elegant evening.
My husband and I are always looking for new places to eat. We really enjoyed Grill 23! Will definitely be going back!
The servers were very helpful and friendly. The food was great as well.
The salmon and the side dishes had no taste, the broccoli was saturated in something that ruined the taste and the salmon was bland. Unfortunate, because we eat here every Thanksgiving weekend. Steak was great as usual though.
One of the best dinner experiences I’ve had in an age! Superb.
It was a busy Thanksgiving at Grill 23 but tables are nicely spaced so it was easy to talk while enjoying the people watching. We had a great server who was personal, professional and not too formal. We enjoyed a great bottle of Willamette pinot noir, the crab salad, a beef dish, swordfish, and three sides. All was delicious and we took most of sides home. We had a pumpkin brulee for dessert which was delicious and brought home their famous coconut cake. A great experience for the two of us.
Thanksgiving with our son and his girlfriend. The seafood tower was excellent- the best part of the meal. Our entrees were hot but somewhat underwhelming for the price. The atmosphere is lovely but it was very loud with other families. Our server was excellent. Holidays are a difficult test for restaurants- especially during a challenge like a pandemic. Grill 23 will remain a favorite in our book.
Thanksgiving dinner. Disappointed that there was no soup, pumpkin or apple pie on the menu. The cauliflower au gratin seemed to have a lot of garlic or something that was not appetizing.
The food here is always...and I mean always outstanding in every way. Everything is prepared with such care and the freshest ingredients. The waitstaff make the meal even better. And don't skip dessert because the pastry chef is genius. It is always a wonderful night out!
As this dinner was a celebration for both thanksgiving and a birthday, we were very impressed with both the taste of the food, the high level of service, and the elegant fine dining atmosphere. The thanksgiving dinner was tasty and the portions were of perfect size. The waiter provided a superior level of service; he offered a wonderful choice for a red wine by the glass. My company especially enjoyed the orange chocolate cake with “happy birthday” written on a vanilla cookie. As the day was thanksgiving and the restaurant was full, so I was amazed at the punctuality and the attentiveness of the staff; ie, not once did the level on my water glass go below the half way point. Even though I would had perfected my meat a few degrees warmer, but considering the circumstances, I was fine with temperature. The restaurant is a real gem!
Dinner was outstanding! This is definitely a go-to for special occasions or just a great meal. Thank you Grill 23 for great food and memories!
