As soon as you walk into the restaurant the staff here are friendly polite and super professional. We enjoyed drinks at the bar while we waited for our table and the bartender was amazing funny knowledgeable and patient as my friend couldn’t decide on a drink the chips at the bar are to die for! The overall decor of the place is historic to Boston very classy and well decorated inside. The food was AMAZING! It didn’t take long and arrived hot, we all ordered something different everything was delicious. The waiter was also very patient and knowledgeable he made great suggestions and helped us understand the menu and drink pairings. They have a lot of drinks to choose from. Restaurant is by far my most favorite place in the city to go to! We went there for restaurant week great choice they had a good selection meat chicken and fish also Desserts
The services are very nice. Friendly and helpful. The waiter was very patient to answer our questions. The food are amazing too.
The American Kobe cap steak is awesome. Never had a more delicious cut!
I really enjoyed the beef and salmon. It is a romantic place for a date.
Absolutely loved our steaks dessert, tater tots, appetizers, ambiance was quiet but loud enough, calm but not too stuffy, fancy but casual enough for a nice date. loved it.
Amazing Kobe steak was delicious
Amazing birthday dinner to remember
Food was just Ok - had higher expectations. Great service and atmosphere but didn’t live up to the hype.
Awesome!!! my go to place. Kobi cap steak is the best. Chris is a great waiter and Adam makes the best drinks in Boston.
This was our first visit to Grill 23 and we were very impressed. The food was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. My husband has a visual impairment and the staff took note on their own accord and did not try to hand him a menu, etc. They also took care to use descriptive language to let him know where they were setting down his drinks and dishes. Thoughtful service on that level is not always easy to come by and is so very appreciated when offered. It makes the experience that much more manageable for us and also more special. At one point we thought we were in a hurry to be out by a certain time and our server accommodated us brilliantly. We would love to return as soon as possible and highly recommend Grill 23.
Food, presentation used to be ssooo much better.
Great dinner. Bar is friendly and fun. Service in restaurant impeccable.
Wonderful hospitality, service and food quality. Beautiful restaurant. Will definitely dine again when in the area.
Food is always great
Our service was great
The best place to dine in Boston. Marvellous food
Food and service was amazing. However the restaurant was very crowded and we had people standing all around our table.
Food was mostly great, but my girlfriend’s steak was red when she asked for it to be cooked medium. Slightly disappointing for a restaurant this expensive.
Everything was outstanding! Were there for our anniversary and it was a very special place to celebrate. The place can get noisy, but everything is great.
Birthday for son
Excellent venue with great food, excellent staff and great atmosphere. Went twice in a single week because we loved it so much. Can highly recommend the Ribeye and the Tuna Steak.
The service was absolutely amazing! The food was excellent too. I would definitely recommend Grill 23 and will go back if I get a chance.
Was traveling through boston and saw they had a 100 day dry aged ribeye, You must get it!!!
Food was excellent, but very expensive. I thought the tables were too close together. The restaurant was quite noisy where we were sitting. There was a large, loud group near us. As I walked through the restaurant, i thought it was loud in general. Our waiter offered us very good service. Personally, I don't feel it was worth the $230 we spent, but my husband loved his dry aged sirloin and said he would go back for again. I was expecting it to be a little more elegant based on the prices on the menu.
New York Prime 14 oz Steak was Great. The 100 day aged prime ribeye was delicious. The Twin filets were good but nothing special. I expect more from the side dishes the mashed potatoes and taters tots were good but the carrots and Mac n cheesewere not to my liking.
The deserts were all fantastic. But we waited too long for waiter service for initial drink orders and actually throughout the meal the service was not what one would expect from such a place. The meal was good but I am in no rush to go back since there are better steak options in Boston.
Food was amazing and our server Antonio was excellent.
Tip notch restaurant with phenomenal unpretentious service and fantastic food. One of my new favorites and the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time.
Always a top notch experience
I haven't been to Grill 23 in probably 10 years. All that I can say is WOW!!!! We were seated upstairs which felt a little more intimate than the downstairs dining room. We were a party of 5. Our waiter, whose name I never caught, was very accommodating. Service was impeccable except that they placed most of the salads in front of the wrong patrons. I ordered the lamb which was cooked to perfection and beyond delicious! Two of the other women enjoyed their chicken and the other men had outstanding filets. All of our meat dishes were $51 and sides were about $10-$15 each. We had a bottle of wine, drinks and one plate of chocolate chip cookies. The bill was around $500 but it was honestly the most delicious meal that I've had in months!! Definitely worthy of a special occasion. And they charge $21 to valet park.... A very expensive but memorable meal.
My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Grill 23 and we had a wonderful time. The service was impeccable, and we felt very well treated by staff and management (a manager came over to the table at one point after we had started entrees to ask if we were happy with our experience--we were). My boyfriend had the 100 day aged steak, which was cooked to perfection and delicious beyond all expectation. I had the filet mignon, which I loved, but had to agree that his steak was even better. Sides of creamed spinach and whipped potato were flavorful and a great accompaniment to the beef. We both had the horseradish sauce, which I highly recommend. Dessert was a chocolate cake that was excellent, but we didn't have much room left to finish it. The only downside of the restaurant was the noise level, and it wasn't so severe that we couldn't hear each other. Anyone with hearing issues would prob have some difficulty, though. Overall, a great dining experience. Highly recommend.
The main hall is very noisy but we were seated on the second floor in a smaller room which was perfect.
Great Restaurant but didn't meet expectations.... we hadn't been here in many many years and had built it up in our minds that we were returning to one of the all time truly great Boston restaurants. The ambiance and service held up! Attentive friendly wait staff - prompt but not rushed, helpful and timely all around. We listened to the steak overview when deciding which one to order. I chose the rib-eye, and understand that it is more marbled (fatty) than the filet mignon but also more flavorful. I was surprised to find a Lot of fat and gristle on the steak, which was hard to see in the dim light to cut it out. The taters were very good, and we shared a salad which we also enjoyed very much. Oh and the coconut cake for dessert was amazing!!
We were glad we returned to this 35 year long steakhouse tradition, and it was a nice evening and meal.
This is by far the best steak house in Boston! The food is amazing, great wine list and save room for dessert! The service is always spectacular as well. Well worth the price tag!
My husband had the porterhouse and said it was delicious! My salmon was outstanding. The service was superb.
Generally very good for steak, and I should’ve known better but I had the halibut. A bit over cooked but ok. I’ll go back, but not for fish.
Always dependable Grill 23. Had a delicious sirloin strip with a nice Malbec. Tasty side dishes of creamed spinach & mushrooms. Good service. A bit noisy & of course, pricey, but one of the top 3 steakhouses in Boston.
Servic was fantastic. The manager ran out in the rain to grab a lobster when they were out of stock. Food was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Even though the food is very pricey, I can't say I didn't enjoy every bite of it. If you are looking to treat yourself to a great steak, then this is the place. The waiter was very hospitable and understood exactly what I meant when I asked for medium-medium rare. I would definitely choose Grill 23 over Ruth Chris, very good experience. Btw sides are enough to share with 2 maybe 3 people.
I have eaten here one other time and had a better meal and evening.
Arrived earlier than our reservation and was seated immediately, at a table for 2 with one seat facing the wall. Many other seats were available. Overall food was good, but pricey. Service was choppy at the start trying to get a drink order in. they didn't have a type of rum requested and it was back and forth with that and then the server forget what the second drink was.
I wouldn't not recommend it, but it would not be on the top 2 choices for us again.
