It is tourist season in Charleston, so very difficult to get reservations anywhere. We made a 5:30 at Grill 225 but they weren’t open when we arrived so had a cocktail at the bar. The bartender couldn’t have been more pleasant. When we went to be seated, we were the only couple and we surprised them, as they were having computer issues.
The assistant waiter was pleasant, but our main waiter a bit cold. We ordered the special beef carpaccio which seemed over powered with olive and the steak was not all chopped., so consistency was not good.
I ordered a ribeye medium rare, and was told they cook to the rare side, so was a bit skeptical. My husband ordered the flounder and we shared the tomato with spinach. Bread seemed a bit burnt and dry. My steak was done to perfection, though lacked something. It was deeply charred, but could have used a little butter or au jus. The flounder was quite tasty. The best was the tomato with spinach.
All in all, it was okay, but not a place I would return except to enjoy the beautiful hotel and bar.
You have to have the classic martini! Steak melted in your mouth, just delicious!
The food was passable, but expensive. We requested "a great table" on Open Table, then again from the host at check in. He placed us in the very back corner, behind booths, which basically present as six foot walls to the table whew we sat, obstructing any view whatsoever. This was done while there were several tables available in the main area, where we might have felt ;ole we were at a good restaurant.
What a great experience - phenomenal food and Jimmy was outstanding as our waiter- highly recommend- my favorite restaurant in Charleston
Upscale fine dining experience and what was to be expected out of a high end steakhouse. Excellent service and attentiveness, great steaks and a nice environment but somewhat on the formal side which again is in line with steakhouses of a similar ilk. Great way to celebrate a special occasion.
Awesome Service and great food! The ambiance was what the Doctor ordered !
Food was all very good, well cooked and presented. Waitstaff was outstanding.
I came here with my husband for his birthday dinner and it was one of the best restaurants we have ever been to! The 3 lb classic lobster, filet mignon and creme brûlée were out of this world!
It was very good food and GREAT service. Just to overpriced for the quality a quantity of food.
A very crowded restaurant and a newer waitstaff led to a very long meal. The key issue was how it took 15+ minutes to get a server to greet us.
The food was wonderful - the sides are large and amazing. Great experience.
Absolute perfection 👍
Having been to many Steak Houses, Grill 225 is by far the best meal we ever had! The wait staff was extremely attentive, the drinks were great and the steaks definitely live up to their reputation. Dinner was worth every penny and we can’t wait to come back.
Excellent service and outstanding food!
2 glasses of champagne as soon as we were seated congratulating us on our 38th anniversary. John and Raphael were our waiters - both extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. Food was excellent.
From the time we walked in the door to the time we walked out everything was exceptional. Rooftop bar is the best in Charleston. Food was excellent at 225 Grill
Everything was wonderful! If you want a decadent meal, with fantastic service, and even better food, this is the place.
Exceptional service. Exceptional food. Lovely atmosphere. All made for a special and memorable evening! Thank you!
Fabulous birthday dinner.
Not enough stars available to adequately rate the food and service! Flounder and crab cakes were outstanding as was the crab soup. The bread selections were superb. Needless to say, we really enjoyed our dinner.
Great service. Beautiful restaurant. Food, however wasn’t great.
Jimmy was a wonderful server. The food was delicious and the presentation, pristine. We love Charleston!
We were visiting from Pittsbugh, Pa and were told to try Grill225 for a few friend. Bar had an ample amount of brands and bartenders were very courteous and attentive. We were sat quickly and efficiently. We had Oysters Rockefeller that were great. I had the chopped Caesar Salad was very well prepared and delicious tasting. Our main course were lobster scallopini which I girlfriend was wonderful. I had 8 oz fillet which I ordered medium I was disappointed when it came out more close to well done. I notified the waiter that it was a little bit over my temperature that I wanted. And he suggested to me that it was a natural lighting that made it look as if it was more done than it really was. But I was talking about the taste and temperature of the steak. My biggest disappointment in the restaurant is that. For the life of me I don’t understand that, maybe he was just trying to get out of whatever it was he thought he was in. Instead of just saying sir can we do something else for you I thought it was purely unprofessional and a little insulting.
Best steak house in Charleston!
Excellent atmosphere, Food was Delicious!! Our waiter Jimmy recommend great options! Jimmy was knowledgeable and efficient, we will request Jimmy section again! Thank you
Ben was outstanding and the food was 5 stars as always!
Starred with nitrogen martinis. Cool experience. Bread variety was great, all delicious. Escargot, creamed corn and tomatoes with havarti stole the show. Lobster was delicious and perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth! Great wine selection. Also great dessert options as well. We enjoyed the butterscotch pecan pie.
Amazing restaurant with amazing food and amazing service.
Our server, John, made everything perfect!
First time in town and we had a great experience. JB was wonderful and made the dinner a great experience.
Great food, service, and location. Would definitely return!
The flounder lacked freshness.
The lobster scampi had a small piece of shell in it and also did have much flavor.
Anyone who orders the lobster should know it’s the whole thing with the lobster shell, legs and body. FYI
Fabulous cocktails. Crab cakes are remarkable. Steak was perfect!
Exceptional waitstaff, friendly, explanatory and swift. High quality experience all the way around, from seating to serving to interactions with staff. (Jordan and Jeff) The fillet was well prepared with perfection. The side dishes are easily shareable and so good. Have the mashed sweet potatoes, and the creamed spinach! Next time I will try the Nitrotini. High dollar but worth every penny.
Grill 225 is one of my go to places to celebrate a special occasion or take out of town guests. I have never been disappointed with the food or service. Charleston’s best steakhouse by far.
It was my husbands birthday and the food and service was great! However, it was a little insane that we had to go get a mask to wear inside the building but took it off as soon as we sat down. We were not allowed in the building unless we had a mask- which the CDC relaxed guidelines so grill 225 should as well.
The food, service and atmosphere were all
