From the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in an extraordinary establishment. The service was impeccable, and the food was even better. We were greeted with a glass of champagne, which was a delightful treat. I ordered the scallops entree and lobster grits as a side and finished with the classical napolean dessert. I cannot express to you the level of perfection each bite provided. Other members of our party had equally satisfying choices from start to finish. Do not miss the opportunity to dine here!
Located in the Market Pavilion hotel, the restaurant has a very traditional look. Service is top-notch. The wine list is expansive. The foie gras filet was outstanding. The regular filet had by other members of our party was also great. Desserts were excellent. The prices are very high, although they seem to be on-par with other high end steak houses in the area. We had some credit because we stayed in the hotel, that helped some. Because it is so expensive, and there are so many other options in town, I probably would not make a trip across the town to eat here. However, on a windy and rainy day, with the convenience of not going anywhere and the hotel credit, it was a nice treat
Our first time to Grill 225 was a pleasant experience. The menu was varied and provided many choices, including vegan options for members of our group. Food was delicious and presented beautifully.
Delicious! Excellent service.
We discovered Grill 225 browsing for steakhouses in Charleston and decided to try Grill 225 after reading a review from a 20 year Charlestonian who had eaten at all the steakhouses in Charleston (Hall's Chophouse, Oak Steakhouse, TBonz, etc) and firmly believed that Grill 225 was the best choice all around. I have to say my wife and I were not disappointed. My wife an I had Filet Mignon that was well seasoned and incredibly tender. Our drink glasses were never less than 3/4 full and the table was groomed after each course.
We were seated in a booth that had a historic/vintage feel that my wife couldn't stop admiring. The only reason I didn't give the ambiance a 5-star is because the restaurant is located in the lobby of a hotel and noise from guests heading out or coming in could be a bit distracting. I was thankful my wife took the seat that had a view of the street versus my view of the hotel lobby and the arriving/departing hotel guests.
Hostesses were weird and rude. Th restaurant was empty and they didn’t want to give us a table close to the window. The restaurant looks old fashioned and the furniture old. Food was a big disappointment the vegetables were over cooked and the steaks were not that tender.
The restaurant as a whole was out standing. My daughter and I went together on a trip for a couple days and this was by far the best food we have had in SC, not only was the service great but the workers were kind and enjoyable to be humble. I would recommend 10/10 and 6 stars if I was able to.
I had an amazing time! The food was very tasty and looked great! The place was beautiful. Very upscale and the staff was extremely cordial. I would highly recommend this place for some special occasion.
Very nice atmosphere , service was out standing . Food I had was lobster Theodore $110 ( 3lbs) crab Chawder it was too much similar creamy flavor after had soup I realized mistake to order the soup and lobster . I got feeling sick because too creamy . I don’t want dinner again maybe appetizer only .
Pricey but worth every bite! Great service, outstanding food, beautiful restaurant! We will go back next time in Charleston!!
Was rushed out. Waiter cleared our dishes before we had finished. Felt as though we were being forced out by how quickly the courses changed. Should’ve gone to Hall’s.
They took a special occasion and made it "un-special." Would not go there again, even though the food was good.
My wife, 14 year old daughter and I recently visited Grill 225 on our first night in Charleston for a family vacation. I did my research on local steakhouses and decided on this one, and am glad I did. This restaurant is in a hotel and is nicely decorated, has a great-looking bar scene and has lots of people coming and going. We enjoyed the atmosphere very much. We were welcomed with free champagne and were well-attended to by multiple members of the wait staff. My wife loved her smoking Nitrotini - any drink that comes with a warning label is a must. The steaks and lobster tails were perfectly cooked and delicious. It's a pricey restaurant but you get what you pay for, and we definitely got our money's worth. This was a great first introduction to the amazing food of Charleston!
The service was excellent. Our waiter recommended stellar dishes such as the Tomahawk, filet and the cream corn. We will be back in the near future.
Solid from start to finish. Food was excellent
Food was ok... but far worse than I’d expect for a $125/person meal. Many of the servers were snobby and vibey, probably because we were wearing casual attire. The main receptionist woman made my lovely wife feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome with several cold stares directed her way.
Amazing food, excellent service! We cancelled a reservation at another restaurant so we could go back again before our trip was over. Highly recommend.
Our party of four went to Grill 225 to celebrate a birthday. Our server was Jordyn (sp?) and she was fantastic. The team that worked with her were also wonderful. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is great. However, in the end, it's always about the food and we were not disappointed. Three of us had filet mignon and each was cooked to perfection, as tender as you would hope for and thoroughly enjoyable. The fourth diner had crab cakes and enjoyed them as well (although they were so large, he could not finish his portion). We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Grill 225!
Amazing food with outstanding service. I highly recommend it!
The steak was burned The whole outside was over charred, The music was way too loud the liquid nitrogen cotton candy drink was absolutely vile service and cream corn was amazing
A little overpriced for the atmosphere and food. Food was great but over priced. You can get similar quality for less. Drinks are definitely over priced. Great restaurant and will not disappoint, but be prepared for the check at the end.
Dirty dished left on the table for long periods, long time in between visits from server, most likely the reason for dishes. Not acceptable for this caliber of a restaurant. I travel the world with my job, so I understand what is to be expected.
Food was great, however it’s the whole experience that matters.
This restaurant is wonderful. Food is great, and service is great. It is a really nice place to celebrate something special!,
Excellent food. Fine dining.
This is our favorite restaurant! We love to come here to celebrate special occasions and special birthdays. The service is always top notch and the food is out of this world amazing!! : )
It was amazing. The food, the employees and the execution of everything in general was spot on. I understand why it’s highly spoke of.
The food was fantastic. The steaks were cooked to perfection along the sides and appetizer. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive and did a great job of explaining the menu to my guest who was visiting her first real steakhouse. Honestly, 225 is exactly what a steakhouse should be.
Food and service were exactly what one would expect at a 5 star Steakhouse!
Drinks were awesome and so was the service only thing I could say was a little less than par were my lamb chops. Over seasoned and a little too well done..
My wife’s meal was perfect.
Everything was spectacular. Great service, food and evening, Grill 225 exceeded all our expectations.
The entire evening was great.. We were seated promptly. We had the crab chowder, filet cooked perfect, creamed corn and a huge baked potato... Chowder was creamy with plenty of crab. The filet was cooked to perfection. The creamed corn was creamy with just a bit of spice. The potato was enough for three people. Then we ordered the vanilla bean Crete brûlée was as delicious as it was beautiful... And our service was excellent..... We will definitely be back.....
My new favorite restaurant in Charleston. Everything we ordered was wonderful.
Great food, even better service. Amazing restaurant.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston
From the time we walked in we were treated exceptionally. Food and service we wonderful. Too much food but we took doggie bags home to enjoy later. We would like to see smaller size steaks on the menu. 8 ounces is still too large for most people but maybe I’m the exception. Will be back!
In my opinion, Grill 225 is a top 3 dining experience in Charleston. Service is excellent and you won’t find better steaks anywhere in the area. Highly recommend if visiting the Charleston area.
This is the perfect restaurant for a special event. In celebration of my birthday, our table enjoyed three kinds of oysters and various cuts of their steaks, which were delicious and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend Grill 225 for a very special evening.
Great restaurant. Very courteous and accommodated us at the last minute with a large party. No issue, they bent over backward to make sure we had a meal at their place that was wonderful.
Went over to Grill 225 for dinner. We had two of the steaks recommended by our waiter and they were terrific. Steaks were cooked to the temperature recommended. The restaurant was not noisy so having a conversation was easy. Highly recommend!
Grill 225 was excellent. The food was spectacular and the service was great. We loved the Nitrotinis!
