We got there 10 minutes before our reservation... but they were closed for a private event :(
Overall, just an average experience for dinner. The food was good, but the room in general needs a renovation. It is a throwback to the typical eighties country club restaurant. In the short term, the lighting needs to be addressed. Some tables have bright spot lights above, while others are dark. It appears that the maintenance staff just replaced bulbs with whatever they had on hand. If they go with a darker room in general with candle light at the tables, it will greatly improve the ambiance. For a country club environment, this should be a given. On the positive side, the staff was attentive and polite. With a few changes, this room could become a nice alternative to the typical CL/LITH options.
Loved it! would absolutely return to dine again! thanks for the great time!
The soup, the Schnitzel and the vegetables were delicious and perfect for a chilly night. Service was prompt and friendly. The place was a bit quiet, but there was a guy playing the piano which helped with the ambiance. We will return if we happen to be in that area again.
Excellent pork and tasty pasta. Pasta was a bit over cooked. Server was friendly and helpful.
I really can’t say enough about this restaurant! It’s amazing! The staff are so friendly, upbeat and positive. Chef Peter does an incredible job! It’s not only great for a Saturday afternoon casual lunch, it’s also great for a fancy dinner. Great for a date night and also for the whole family! You will not be disappointed by visiting The Griffin Room!
It was pleasant. I liked that the chef came out to greet everyone . I ordered the steak, not the best Ribeye I’ve had—too much gristle but the chef had it seasoned very nicely. I’m sure if id mentioned the gristle, he would have done something about it. It was a bit awkward when a waiter brought a glass of wine to the table as a “gift”, he said. We thought , hmmmm, must be for our 25th wedding anniversary , rather odd they only brought one glass but I guess we’ll share. Then that waiter awkwardly came back and took the wine back as he was told it should go to a different table. My only other comment is that when I made the reservations I specified that I needed a gluten free menu (and had even called first to ensure they had as much) and when we got there they knew nothing about it. The waitress who was very very sweet didn’t understand at all and didn’t seem to know what gluten was. The chef came out and did assist.
The staff could not have been nicer, they went out of their way to make our dinner special & comfortable. They were friendly and totally accommodating.
After initial issues with OpenTable my wife and I had an excellent meal here with superb service. Our dishes were well prepared and made to order, given our food allergies. Our server Laurie was wonderful and has a wealth of knowledge on the history of Turnberry- rather fascinating! The value is very good for the quality and the ambience exceptional. We were seated in the members area because the Griffin Room itself was a little noisy due to a late night table. Views are quite spectacular especially at sunset! One of the owners of Turnberry was also in constant touch with us to ensure we had a great experience: they truly wish to make their facility feel accessible to everyone, not just members. We will certainly be dining here again in an ongoing basis!
We decided to give this place a try and I can say I definitely was not disappointed. The food was excellent. I had the veggie sand which and my husband had the Walleye. The service was great and we loved the view of the golf course. I suggest you try this little diamond in the rough. We will definitely be back.
