Award winning drinks experts, brothers Max and Noel Venning of Dalston favourite Three Sheets, have created a list of re-imagined classics using unexpected ingredients in their signature style, to complement the menu. The Gridiron wine list has been curated by Fiona Beckett and ranges from big flavoured new world wines to much loved French and other European classics.
Service and Food were both wonderful and made for an enjoyable evening all round
Really tasty food and friendly people
The food is amazing here! The value for money is one of the best I have seen. The service was attentive but not intrusive.Thank you guys!It was great!
THERE WERE 2 TABLES APART FROM OURS. SO AMBIENCE WAS POOR WHICH MAKES YOU THINK WHY?
Jenny the manager delivers a 5 star service. We had a 3 dishes set menu and the food was excellent and exquisite. We would definitely go back.
We booked the Gridiron based upon previous reviews and we weren’t disappointed. We had the scallops and the pigs head and black pudding croquets to start. I had the sirloin steak and my friend had the venison, served with the beef dripping potatoes, golden carrots and the garlic squash. The food was incredible. I would highly recommend this place.
I was told it was two 3 course meals for £60 then when I get there it was £40 just for a steak
The service was exceptional and the food was nice, however would have been nice to have been asked how I liked my meat when ordering
An amazing evening with a fantastic group of friends. The evening was made extra special by the attention given by the whole team at Gridiron. Amazing food served in total luxury. Well done and we will be back.
Excellent meal and service from the staff at the restaurant and starting with champagne. Special mention for Matt and the rest of the team at work.
After seeing some of the early reviews on here I was skeptical, however I’m not sure if these reviewers went to a different restaurant because the Gridiron I experienced was faultless.
Impeccable service, unbelievable food, excellent value for money.
Top recommendations would be Short Rib Kiev, Black Pudding and Pigs Head Croquettes, Crab on Toast, Braised Beef Shin and Smoked Eel and then the Venison (so perfect it absolutely does not need a sauce) accompanied with the Beef Dripping Potatoes which will be the best potatoes you have ever had in your life
I can’t wait to come again!
Had a lovely meal here. Great location, setting and service. Would definitely recommend!
Great food and service but very expensive for what you get. We found £38 for a very small piece of turbot (ex sides) to be particularly disappointing even for restaurants in this price range
We had a great dinner at Gridiron last night. It is a wonderful steakhouse with a great bar. We had fun at the bar (Alex, excellent bartender!) trying different concoctions. Then the meal was excellent: The steaks, and fish, the starters and the desserts were all excellent, for an all-around wonderful evening!
Just not good enough for the money. Great menu that disappointed. First course scallop, shell served, quickly ended up in pool of its own water, washing off what caramelisation was there to start with. Crab toast though was competent and delicious. Dover Sole at £40 was half size and visually overcooked, it’s mush evident from a distance. We overheard the table behind us deflate in disappointment at theirs. We cancelled ours in favour of Dexter rib for two which at nearly £90 could have been spectacular but badly let down by everything around it; the clarified fat with fish chunks masquerading as anchovy butter, the creamed spinach with too much nutmeg in watery milk and the burnt then over stewed fondant onion. Weird ‘complimentary’ quartered spicy corn on the cob later interrupted the main course and was utterly tasteless as well as being a pointless gesture. Where was the amuse bouche or even bread to start? Service however was charming and accommodating. But at +£250 for two it’s got to be brilliant even in deepest Mayfair. No wonder it was only half full on a Saturday night. Go to Scott’s. Same postcode, same money, different planet.
Dear Victor, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your experience with us at Gridiron but thank you for your feedback this is invaluable to us as a new restaurant and team. I would like to send you a separate email to discuss in further detail. Regards Liam Davy Restaurant General Manager
Highly original menu and excellent food. However there is a lot of upselling which is great for P/L, not so great for encouraging returning custom. We left feeling it was very expensive (£91 each with only two drinks each). Also the constant, and I mean Constant ‘how is it’ - even before the food has been tried, was beyond irritating. So overall mixed feelings.
