So, I was seated outside, which is what I requested. No problems there. Then, I was greeted my server and ordered a short time after. Dinner took just over 30 min to come out.. I got through just a little of my 8oz Filet Mignon noticed how dry it was beginning to taste and just how much I was chewing. I cut it open and it was insanely overcooked.. Dry overcooked... i showed my server, he could clearly see it and took it away. By that time , all the staff had cleared all the other outside tables and left. I was alone and started to really notice how unsafe I was.. Then this guy comes on to the patio and kept trying to stand directly behind me.. he kept walking crazy like he was drunk or on something and appeared to possibly be homeless.. I just kept turning around so he knew he couldn’t surprise me and literally holding my purse down because he was absolutely looking at me like he was going to try it. I literally had my steak knife in my hand and was thinking of what I was going to do. Then he goes inside and the staff bring him right out. One lady could see how scared I was; apologized and asked if I wanted to come inside. I of course said yes.. while my nerves were calming down. THEN, they bring me the replacement 8oz Filet and it looks like this. Also, the temp I asked for was “A touch over Medium.”
They said they had to “butterfly” it to cook it...
You should not be offering outdoor seating if it’s not safe. This was my 2nd Day in San Diego so I wasn’t familiar with the area.
We waited 25 minutes to be seated for our 8pm reservation. Our food took an hour to come after ordering. The waiter and manager were nice and tried to make up for it by giving us a free drink and appetizer, but we will not be dining here again. The hostess were horrible and rude.
We waited 50 min after our reservation to sit. After we sat down at 8:40, they said the kitchen was behind 1/2 hour
Service was NOT as advertised and rated for being the number 1 steakhouse in San Diego. We had a reservation and our table was given to another party. After being seated for more than 15 mins., I had to look for our waiter because there were no menus and/or water. The waiter messed up our orders and drinks. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks, and when we did, only one drink instead of the two we ordered. The food took almost an hour and then they brought us the incorrect meal. We end up taking our food to go due to lack of service. And to top it off, my wife's steak was not to par for the price. We were very disappointed with the service and food quality considering it was rated the number 1 steakhouse in San Diego!
The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Our original server was too busy, so a female server stepped in (we do not recall her name, blonde wavy hair) worked the upstairs section. The restaurant was completely full, 100% capacity. Food coming out of the kitchen was very slow, took 70 minutes to receive our first course. Second course came out before we were done with the first one so we had to send it back. Our server was very accommodating, and the restaurant acknowledged our anniversary, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. We will definitely return, just when it is not so busy.
Brought my husband to Greystone for restaurant week. He ordered the Buffalo Filet and that same night he got a ick. Almost had to take him to the ER to get rehydrated. Has been sick ever since. Luckily I’m a nurse so I’ve keeping an eye on him. Not a good experience.
Food was only warm not hot, Our water was not great, had to ask for things several times.
Sarah is prettier in person (she was on kusi) and so charming she knows how to order as she did for us since it was our first time and everything looked amazing, Micheal was our waiter he was on top of everything great at explaining the whole menu! The filet tartare was delicious, the bread and butter omg melts in you mouth Sarah ordered us the Greystone salad, Japanese Waygu and the 20oz ribeye steak, best steak we’ve had here in San Diego! And the Waygu omg it melts in your mouth delicious!!!!! Oh and don’t forget to try the midway drink!! This will be our go to steakhouse!!!
Bottom line: awful food. My expectation was to have a succulent steak and yummy baked potato. The potato was cold-I sent it back and another one came-also cold. The rib eye was tough and very peppery. The service was fine. They did discount our bill which I appreciated. It was SO awful though, I won’t be going back.
One word. Average. Service is lacking. Food could be a lot better for what you pay.
The food was actually quite good, but drinks were overpriced. An inexpensive bottle of wine was upcharged as their house wine.
Flashing lights and very loud music made it feel more like a club than a resturant - it was hard to hear others in our group or the waiter. Very distracting - definitely not the ambiance for a relaxing meal with friends.
Waitstaff were slow and seemed annoyed to be working.
Steaks were excellent. Chicken was tasty but kind of weird/awkward with the shoulder/wing still attached and non-crispy skin attached. Meat and cheese board was average. Not bad but nothing special. Crab cake good, soup and salads good. Shrimp cocktail very “fishy” and not so good. Baby potatoes were great, asparagus was good, Brussels sprouts were Meh at best.
Family dinner after a long wait because of the pandemic. Overall a good time but a bit pricey. The service was excellent.
Steaks are delicious but don’t get it butterfly cut.
They have amazing food from the brusselsprouts to the crab legs and wagyu. They’ve got asparagus topped with lump crab that is delicious and the Ciabatta bread served with the herb butter with rosemary is absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, very nice people that even took the time to compliment me and my girlfriend. I would come here again to celebrate occasions with significant other and possibly even with family. The menu is a little pricey but definitely worth it
Amazing food and drinks. We ordered enough to share food and still have leftover
It was so nice to dine at Greystone again. The food, wind and service were all outstanding.
Based on our dining experience- this is not a top tier steakhouse . The filet mignon was a average not much flavor and slightly cold. The Brussel sprout salad was not good- the other items we ordered were just average. On a positive note, the escargot and sea bass were both really good. The service was pretty good.
However, the noise level of music coming from next doors bar was pretty loud and greatly took away from the dining experience.
There are much better steakhouse experiences out there.
Great place to have dinner. You won't be disappointed.
We ordered the fish, sea bass and salmon. Excellent!
This steak house was amazing. The service was great but most importantly the food was amazing. By far the best steak I’ve ever had.
Waitress Michelle was efficient, friendly and everything came out perfect! We started with wine and a tiki drink. Dinner was delicious and so was dessert. Lobster Mac n cheese, calamari, filet mignon, all wonderful. The stuffed baked potato was disappointing presentation of a plain potato with toppings in a side container not what we had envisioned but everything else was great. The creme brûlée and chocolate mousse very good 😃
Love coming here- it’s my regular spot. Love sitting at the bar and getting my regular meal. Best Wagyu in town- creaser salad.
Sara the manager always provides us with excellent customer service.
one of the best steakhouses in san diego- the japanese kobe beef is a must
Date night here was super romantic. Loved everything- food and the service was on point
Such an incredible evening and such thoughtful service.
Even under the circumstances it was a great experience. Outdoor dining was great. Service was phenomenal. Food was cooked really well. Had the best time for my first trip in a year because of CoVID.
First time at greysons! Loved the live music, food and service was excellent! Highly recommend for a date night!
Great service and yummy food. We ate in the outdoor dining in the street and it was very fun.
Delicious steak and great service. Would come back again for dinner dates.
Everything was absolutely amazing. We went to celebrate our anniversary there and they exceeded our expectations! We loved everything from the cute table set up to the dessert, we will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone we know!! Thank you for making our anniversary so very special!
Great experience! We dined in the wine room. The food and service was excellent as always. Sara thank to you and your team.!
We came to Greystone for date night after pandemic restrictions were loosened. We had a great experience with Brian (and a female server who I assume was on training). The food was delicious. I had a bone-in filet mignon with Bernaise sauce that was incredible. We ordered too much food but it was so good I couldn’t bare to leave anything on the table. We will definitely be back.
The food was just a little salty which is kind of a big deal when you’re spending so much money on it, but it wasn’t overbearing where we couldn’t enjoy it. Their Japanese wagyu was great quality and the lobster Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Our waiter was amazing and very attentive. The only and worst thing about dinner and the reason for a non 5 star was the group of people sitting next to us. They had their phone playing music. This is a very cute and nice restaurant not a club. I definitely don’t go to a high end restaurant to listen to someone’s iPhone music. Actually, I personally, wouldn’t like that anywhere.
Was close to closing felt rushed. Waiter wasn’t very present. And my salmon was very over cooked.
Beautiful restaurant with amazing food! Definitely a must visit if in the area.
It was my fiancé’s bday and I requested for a special spot to sit and Greystone granted that request! The food was amazing! Everything was amazing and I will definitely go back . Yes it was a little high in price but well worth it !
Everything was excellent 👌! On point. One of my favorite places to go out and enjoy a great meal or just hangout and relax.
Brought my family here to celebrate a birthday. The food was excellent as was the service! Sara made the birthday celebration so special !
Celebrated my husbands 30th birthday dinner here with some close friends! All employees were wearing masks and we were sat on a huge table. Bryan was amazingly helpful and patient with our 10 person dinner. Everything came out perfectly. He gave us a good space to enjoy our drinks, apps and the delicious entrees. Gave us complimentary champagne to toast as well as a birthday cake slice with a candle in to! Thanks so much for making this all happen!
