My steak was cooked to perfection. I’m very pleased and we had a great experience. We will be coming back
Attentive, unabtrusive service. The food was excellent.
The experience was grand. Food was incredible from apps to desert. Service was friendly and timely. Would highly recommend to others.
Fantastic meal! Ordered the bone-in filet medium rare - out of this world! The staff took excellent care of us and helped us celebrate a special birthday. Hospitality and server were terrific!
Food was delicious, my husband got a ribeye and I got a vegetarian dish (pasta diavolo). He thoroughly enjoyed husband his and I enjoyed mine. Service was also excellent, very attentive staff.
The food was good. After many guests left, our water started a training on their new servers!
He was really into the training, we did’t get much attention. Also, he was very loud when he was speaking to his trainees.
We had to ask another server to bring us the check after waiting for him for awhile.
I hope he realizes the reason he didn’t get a nice gratuity.
He seemed to show his trainees a wrong example.
My fiancé and I went to celebrate my 40th birthday and the staff at this restaurant made it an absolutely wonderful evening to remember! Robert, the bartender, started us off with some happy hour cocktails and the delicious portobello mushroom appetizer at the bar. We enjoyed our time with him before getting seated at our table for dinner. Our waiter Cannon was absolutely fantastic. He recommended a few sides once we told him what we were going to order as a main dish and made sure all of our needs were taken care of promptly. As a nice surprise, we were also treated to a complementary glass of sparkling wine and piece of their delicious chocolate mousse cake! Would absolutely recommend this place to locals!
Came here to relax and enjoy a great steak. Greystone did not disappoint. I would highly recommend coming here for a special occasion. The Server Ashley was very attentive and a great help with the extensive wine list.
It was busy New Year Eve. We made reservations for the restaurant. The food was excellent. The young hostess with beautiful black dress could have had better customer service skills especially with the people waiting for tables and they had reservations. Her responses were very short which made people feel like they made the wrong choice for the night. She basically just sent everyone to the bar. I felt like a manager should have been present to greet customers and assure them that they would be able to eat. Fortunately for me I am persistent and I talk to the young lady that was seating the customers. She ask me was I dining, I told her about the reservation and she took us to our seat at our original reservation time. I did not get her name but she was wearing all black with red top and black/red flapper head piece. She was very nice and made us feel OK about choosing the restaurant. The course selection for NYE were excellent. I enjoyed watching everyone get their food.
30 minute wait for the table, slow service, cold food! Understandable due to new years crowd but not for this level of restaurant.
Everything was great, except ironically the steaks, which were served a bit on the cool side. We were there on New Year's Eve, and I think they simply did a bot too much cooking ahead. We ended up taking them home and throwing them on the grill at home the next night, and they were fantastic.
As to the service, it was absolutely top notch. Very nice and attentive staff.
And the atmosphere is very cool.
The price you pay for the food here you would hope it’s outstanding, sadly ours was not. I ordered a filet and asked for medium well. It came out still pink and the beef was not tender at all. For $56 you would think it would melt in your mouth this one did not. It was warm to the touch when it arrived and not worth the money. My husband ordered the Surf and Turf which came with a choice of Wagu beef. He ordered the Australian New York and there again for $99 you would hope for tender and perfectly cooked. For ordering medium it came out closer to well done. Very chewy meat. We did mention it to our server and the manager did give us 30% off bill which was nice. Would not go back for the meat there but would for the Mac and cheese side which really was the only thing that tasted any good. Pictured are the burnt Brussel sprouts we also ordered.
My husband and I went for our 5th wedding anniversary. We were greeted with smiles that lasted the entire evening. Our waiter, Dennis, was superb and his knowledge of the product he was serving was very helpful to individuals that don’t go to fine dining restaurants often. I was very impressed that he knew champagne label we were drinking, which he brought us complimentary for our anniversary, without having to go back to the bar. The meal was incredible, melt in your mouth, food and the manager came to check on us a couple of times. I would definitely recommend Greystone to anyone who asks. Amazing food, amazing service and all over amazing anniversary dinner.
Waiters seemed rushed. Food was delicious but a bit overpriced. A little too crowded for my taste.
My family and I went to Greystone for Christmas dinner and had a pretty horrible experience. We had reservations at 7:30 and didn’t leave the restaurant till after 10:00. The restaurant completely forgot about our meals and appetizers and kept saying that they were on the way. In the end, they comped our drinks and appetizers. We won’t be going back.
Delicious meal, professional staff, great ambiance
We were really looking forward to a great evening and meal here as it was our first time for Greystone. A great steak is hard to beat but unfortunately we did not experience that here. Both steaks were overcooked and the strip was tough and chewy with visible white gristle throughout. The fish smelled fishy and that’s never a good start. The sides, starter, drinks and staff were amazing but the entrees disappointed.
We eat here every time we come to town. Food is great. Bartender is one of the best. Get his smoked Ole Fashion, it’s soo good. Pricey though
Food was very good. The hostess told us to have a drink at the bar since we were early. There weren't any seats, however, there was a bar table. However, no one came to take our order. We had to flag a waiter down to get a drink ordered. I had made reservations at least 5 weeks earlier and the table we got was near the stairs. The noise level was so loud it made it difficult to talk with people across the table from us. I love the restaurant but would have to find a different time to go to enjoy the food.
Alejandro was one of the best servers we have ever had. Amazing dinner and service.
I will never return. Waiter recommended us food out of menu. We spent 426$ for 3 steaks and 3 drinks.
Excellent food, very long waiting time, but they apologized amd gave us a drink on the house. Very enthusiastic waiter.
IF YOU ARE A FOODIE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS PLACE!
Very disappointing. Im a big foodie.. and spending 200$ for two - I expected to have an acceptional experience with the food. Boy.. I was wrong.
My friend and I both ordered the 20 oz aged rib eye. No sides came with it.. sides were sold separately. We decided to get a "loaded" potato (12$) to compliment our steaks.
Our food arrived.. and the potato wasn't even "loaded" it was a baked potato, cut in half and a tiny cup on the side with a little bit of sour cream, sprinkle of cheese, and not even half of a bacon strip cut up. When I saw it.. I laughed.. that I was paying 12$ for that.
The steak isnt anything you are missing out. It says "fine cut" but the way they cook it make it taste like a grocery store steak. It was cooked unevenly. I ordered Medium. Some parts were well done, but even the juicy parts.. weren't like the expensive melt in your mouth kind of meat.. it was still very chewy.
Overall, the experience was unsatisfactory. Not worth 200$ for two, tastes like a 50$ dinner for two.
Showed up here for a pre-show dinner dressed nice. I ordered the LOBSTER BUCCATINI DIAVOLO and perhaps this was my mistake. It arrived with the meat in the lobster shell and half a lobster shell sitting in a bowl that was already crowded. While the food tasted good the presentation was less than appealing. Even more problematic was being nicely dressed only to then have to fight with my food to remove meat from shells, tails from shrimp, etc... (in the end I ended up with three sauce drops on my shirt). In addition, a number of the clams and mussels on my plate had not even opened during the cooking process.
As for service, it took several minutes to even get a server to take our drink order. Then to place our dinner order I had to actually wave the server down. Once our drinks arrived and our meal order was taken we never saw that server again. Another server (but not a server, I believe a manager) eventually stopped by to ask if we wanted drink refills, I requested one and never received it or spoke to that individual again (thankfully it was not on the bill). By the end of the night, we had 3 different servers or service staff members, not because we asked.
The ambiance was great, the location great, and I had such high hopes but ultimately the restaurant failed to deliver.
Food and service were phenomenal. It was particularly noisy upstairs so it was a little difficult to hear each other. But the food and our attentive server more than made up for it.
The servers were friendly, but only recommended expensive ones.
Good food, though expensive ofc.
Despite good food, I do not recommend this restaurant to others because the restaurant was toooooooo suuuuuuppppeeerrrr noisy :( We could't hear each other well. :(
Fantastic menu; the Elk chop is amazing as is the bison tenderloin. Everything I've had here is well worth the money. Perfectly prepared, which certainly explains how this restaurant has thrived for over two decades in the Gas Lamp district.
Wonderful meal but unfortunately they didn’t check me in correctly for my Open Table points
Made reservation weeks in advance stating it’s our anniversary and ask for a nice table to have a romantic meal. Checked in early and told it would be a few minutes. Sat down near reception in view of hostess, where we were forgot for the next 30 minutes. We asked if we were to be seated soon as she was obviously taking walk ins and later reservations now ahead of us. You could tell she forgot about us and then came back a couple minutes later saying our table was ready.
We were taken ten feet from where we were in bar to a bar table in middle of crowd and not even in dining room. I asked really we made reservations you forgot us and want to stick us here! No! She then asked all the people waiting around us if they wanted the table and no one took it. There is no way anyone would want a meal there. I get cocktails but not a $200 meal.
A few minutes later they came and got us and took us upstairs. I thought good we are going into dining room. There are great tables on left for a wonderful anniversary dinner, but they had people at them and two were seated in them after our arrival. The crazy guy that was helping the forgetful hostess show us a table that is 8” from the top of stairs. It’s literally squished up against the hand railings. It’s so uncomfortable as you have to squish into chair as table is right on you and unless your less than 110 lbs you’re not going to be comfortable. So far the opposite of a nice romantic dinner. The staff runs up and down the stairs every minute or two and every guest has to enter here, so they knock the back of the chair at last step.
Food was good, but the experience and service go beyond the worst I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant in this price range. They completely ruined our anniversary dinner that was planned for weeks prior to our weekend getaway in San Diego.
There are many great steakhouses in Gaslamp district, we will be choosing and referring everyone to those.
Food and service were fantastic. Took over an hour for our food to come though on a Saturday night. Regardless I would overall would recommend.
Drinks and service was outstanding. I had the steak and the top layer was burnt; which at the end didn’t find it worth the cost ($89).
One of the best steaks I’ve had at a restaurant (and I’m from Texas)! Great wine selection, too.
Excellent meat and cooking. We where 12 for a business diner in the privacy cellar room so much les noisy !
The wines boss gives you good advices if needed and they have a pretty vast choice of wines from Europe and US ! Defenitively a good place !
The steaks were very good. They weren't the best steaks we have ever had, but very good. Wait staff was excellent. Caesar salads were very good--the brussels sprouts were sort of a weird addition.
This place had exceptional service not only from our waiter, but management as well. The food was amazing and they made us feel very comfortable. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and will definitely return in future! Loved it!
Unfortunately, my review is based on the actions of 1 specific employee and whoever set the table. We were sat at a table with lipstick on the water glasses and the waiter was rude...and I do not mean a little rude. We were shocked.
First glance of the menu it seemed pricey for the food we saw being served. But, cannot really speak to the food quality because after the waiter was rude, we left. We decided to dine at the restaurant next door and that restaurant was quite good.
My wife and I were visiting and tried it out. We were very pleased with the service. We did find the shared waiter odd. We started with one waiter who left to wait on other tables while we had a different waiter. Both waiters were very good. The entire meal, from appetizer to dessert. I deficit recommend it.
