It was awesome
If you're in San Diego, you HAVE to visit this incredible steakhouse. The food is amazing and the service is second to none! The portobello appy is to die for!!!!
been there before. $$ but worth it. Steak is the main deal for going.
Our waiter was very nice and professional. The food was exceptional and the atmosphere delightful. Highly recommend!
Food was amazing..service was incredible..very friendly staff...get place to get wagyu beef...Abit expensive but if u r looking to splurge then this is your olace
The wait staff were tops and the manager was over the top making sure we were taken care of at the highest level
Birthday! Thank you for everything!
Extremely disappointed. Have been coming for years and quality has greatly diminished in the last several. Food was not cooked as ordered and becoming increasingly over priced. We are from out of town and used to look forward to our annual trips to Greystone, but no longer,. We will be looking for a new steakhouse for our annual trek to San Diego.
We celebrated my husbands birthday and it was perfect. The food was amazing, the staff was fantastic, the service was in point. This is a beautiful restaurant with a elegant, modern and romantic vibe. I highly recommend it for date night and special events.
We were visiting San Diego and this restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge.
It was a great choice - it's absolutely Excellent. The only reason I didn't give all 5 stars is that I don't think you could really call it good value!!!! We had a main course each and shared a desert, a bottle of wine, and it was $300 with the tip. But it was well worth it!
The service was very friendly, efficient and informed. The sommelier is a very nice guy with extensive knowledge of the wine list he has chosen (for this and 4 other restaurants in the group). We had the New York Strip 14oz which was superb, as were the accompanying vegetables. After some negotiation we settled on his wine choice which was perfect and reasonable at $75 (a lot cheaper than most of the wines on an extensive list).
There are a lot of steak restaurants in San Diego but if you go here you wont go far wrong.
Fantastic meal and fantastic service. We always have a great meal here.
Our first waiter did not offer ice water only bottled and was not impressed when my wife said she does not drink. He never came back to the table and all the other servers were wonderful.
We had the seafood platter which comes with lobster, king crab, shrimp and oysters. Both my wife and I thought the oysters were off. Not totally gone but close enough. We really should have complained at the table.
The porterhouse was fine but well done rather than the medium we asked for.
We went to Greystone for the bison and it was OK. I don't like when restaurants smother the meat in a sauce or it comes on a bed of something, in this case risotto. If the meat is good quality let it speak for itself without masking the flavor with something else.
We come to San Diego at least once a year and have many happy dining experiences but on this occasion we walked away thinking we had been to a tourist trap.
We had a wonderful time there. The food is so good, we had a bone in filet and you could cut it with a fork. The lobster mac & Cheese was amazing too. Highly recommend!
Excellent service, good food. Will definitely go back again when in San Diego!
Even with a reservation we had to wait 40 minutes for our table. Our server, Melvin, provided incredible service. He apologized for the kitchen being slow and provided us with complimentary champagne. The elk chop was delicious and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the brussel sprouts.
We were here for my friend’s bachelor party dinner. Food came out outstanding. The calamari, steak, and wine were all great! I would definitely come back for another meal for a special occasion.
Hey, this outfit did not miss any details. We were pretty critical as we were celebrating both a birthday and an anniversary (married on my birthday [#42/#69]). We felt like it was a family affair. The food was great, service was outstanding......just a nice atmosphere for a celebrating. $$we felt the value of the evening certainly was comparable or perhaps exceed the price.
Too expensive for the service and overall experience we had. For my wife, my daughter and myself we paid more than 400 USD (3 glasses of wine, 3 mains, 2 entrees, 2 deserts and 1 bottle of sparkling water).
We went there for my fiancé's birthday. The waiter was nice and helpful, even if he changed his position to serve the customers upstairs, he still took care of us. It was an amazing and wonderful dinner for us!
Excellent all around! Our server James was fantastic! Made it an unforgettable and wonderful experience! Food tremendous!
Very good food and service. The atmosphere was more club like then romantic but an overall great value.
We were told they didn't have any seafood from the menu when we had sat for 15 minutes. We had to choose from the meats or poultry menu. After 40 minutes we were told that one of the pasta entrees that we had ordered was not available. We had to walk away after 40 minutes of wasted time. Other patrons were already there when we entered and when we left after 40 minutes the other customers didn't have any food on their table. There were only other two tables with guests when we got there.
We specifically came to Greystone because i was told on the phone that all meat served at your restaurant is Grass fed and specifically Grass Finished. I have been looking all over San Diego for this type of meat. Halfway through dinner, the Maitre de, came and asked how everything was. I told him I was so happy to find Grass fed and finished meat. He paused, then told me that the meat is Grass Fed, but that it is all grain finished on corn. I am very upset by this. I investigated this thoroughly with a few people by phone and requested the answer come from the most knowledgeable person there, I was assured of the grass finished, aspect. I have been upset every since that evening, that I was not told the truth, and was given the run around. I belong to a very large organization here in San Diego of health conscious people, doctors, nutritionists who share this concern. I was excited to spread to word about my find. Now I can not do that. We also found the wine list to be outrageously priced.
Favorite in San Diego!
Took my wife here for our 1yr Anniversary. We enjoyed our dinner. They have us the best seat in the house, next to the fireplace.
Food was amazing! I would give 4.5 stars if it would take. 4.5 because the original plate I ordered I did not like after one bite. However, the waiter quickly rectified the situation and allowing me to choose something else. I originally ordered the antelope and I felt the sauce did not pair well with the protein. The meat was much more gamer than I expected and was not to my liking. However, one I switched to the bison, it was amazing! Even the oysters Rockefeller was out of this world! Better than mine! Would definitely return!
Judy was outstanding and made our last night in San Diego so enjoyable
We had reservations for 6 at 6:30 pm on a Friday evening for a family dinner. My family requested a “surf & turf” menu; I chose Greystone because we didn’t have “business casual” or “smart casual” attire packed for our long weekend visit to San Diego. The restaurant has a nice inviting atmosphere with 2 levels, approximately 20 tables total. Even with other guests dining nearby, the low noise level still allowed for easy conversation. Service was attentive and friendly. The starters (mushroom bisque & beet salad) arrived promptly and were delicious.
Most of the family ordered steak (filet mignon, New York), one added shrimp, another added lobster tails. The steak was excellent. Unfortunately, the Chilean sea bass was a disappointment (overly salty, masking the flavor of the fish). Side dishes (spinach, sautéed mushrooms) were also underwhelming. Next time I will pack my business attire, as there are many other restaurants to try in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.
The service was very friendly and took care of everything. The food was outstanding, but I'd skip the side dishes-meh.
Best steak in San Diego, amazing!!!
Ask for Alex, great service :)
Great restaurant. Food great and nice atmosphere..
Thick cut for tomhawk steak suppose the thickest was not over price 90 was not told about the price total scam ..disgusting ..
Exquisite menu with unique items offered paired with extraordinary ingredients. Perfect ambiance with warm lighting enhanced the dining experience.
Comfortable steak house in the busy gas lamp quarter with a good selection for steaks and side dishes. Traditional restaurant, no selfserve buffets and so on. Good for conversation, larger tables for groups as well. Probably one of the best restaurants in town.
Great experience. Staff were very attentive. Food was well prepared & very tasty.
I don’t normally write reviews but my honest evaluation of the place is that it is a waste of money.
I would describe the unnecessary and pushy customer service as similar to the experience of walking by some feed the 3rd world children group of recruits at the mall who stop you mid stride to shove down biased statements in order to provoke action on your behalf.
Decent food, but definitely not worth the price. I could’ve made the food for much less.
Waiter is extremely pushy. Forces you to purchase a glass bottle of water. Constantly pushes to purchase alcohol. He probably asked us 5 times if we wanted alcohol. After saying we don’t drink alcohol, he finally left us alone.
After observation, those who purchased alcohol were offered free water from a pitcher, but if you are smart enough not to purchase their $15-20 drinks, you are stuck buying a $6 water bottle.
They tried again to have us buy more like salads and desserts when we obviously did not want any.
I’m really disappointed with my experience here and the service itself is what is keeping me away.
They are very condescending with the way they try to push you to purchase even more stuff.
I felt so pushed that I wanted to leave during the meal.
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Greystone was an excellent steakhouse. Best steak we have had in a very long time!! Ambience was wonderful and a great place for us to have dinner with close friends. My only complaint is that the waitress repeatedly tried to upsell. I understand that happens all the time, however it was too much. For example, she recommended a $120 bottle of wine and downplayed the $55 bottle, indicating that she even had the $120 bottle of wine at home. If the $55 bottle was terrible, why have it at such an expense restaurant? That's not a cheap bottle either. The wine we selected was perfect with our meal and we had 2 bottles. At every turn, whether it was an appetizer, or dessert, she tried to upsell. I get it, however there is so much food between the appetizer, the main meal, multiple sides and then dessert. If you want amazing steak with wonderful ambience, this is the place to go to. Just bring a big wallet, it's expensive, however worth it.
