Started off with oysters and lump crab cake. Both were very good, however, I learned that lump crab cake is different than regular crab cake. We split a 20oz New York strip, brussel sprouts and Parmesan truffle fries. The steak was charred (the good kind of charred) on the outside and medium rare inside, as ordered. Overall, a fantastic meal.

We arrived an hour early and couldn't be seated before our reservation which was fine and we thought that could happen so we went next door for a drink. We came back and they told us our table wasn't ready. After another half hour of the hostesses running around doing nothing a manager came by to check on us and gave us a free glass of champagne for our wait. After another 15 minute wait we finally got a table and learned that the table that they had planned to give us still had people at it after 3 hours and they paid and still didn't leave. We were then told that the kitchen was backed up and it took another hour to get our food. We ordered an appetizer that never came and they got one of the sides wrong, but the rest of the food was absolutely fantastic. The Sommelier was great and picked a great wine for us. They tricked us into getting a desert saying that we would get it comped for waiting so long for food, but ended up bringing a second small one us that was comped not the one I ordered, both were great tho. Was a very pricey dinner. This was our experience, make of it what you will.

Waitress included tip in bill for 5 people without asking. Staff kept bringing bottles of water and refilling without asking if we wanted another bottle. Presumptive service.

I should have learned my lesson by now. Never go to a steakhouse on Valentine's Day! While it was Valentines Day our reservation was fairly early & the restaurant was not crowded until 45 min. later. The Valentines Day Pre-fixe menu was substantial & while the Wagyu steak was tasty we did not receive the 3 sides that were ordered & waiter never came by to see how we were doing until we were done. Not that sides were necessary with our 4oz. behemoths. By this time the place was full and cramped, did I mention it was Valentine's Day? Seated next to us was a woman whom has yet to realize after 40 or so trips around the sun that a little perfume goes a looooong way. Fortunately their wine glasses are large enough to place even the largest schnoz in order to escape the surrounding stench. Hopefully the service is superior beyond Valentine's Day but I doubt I'll be returning to find out.

I’m not rich, so a night at Greystone was the first time I’ve splurged hard for a meal, but I’m very happy that I did. The servers were absolutely incredible, and the four course meal was the perfect amount. I’ve never had a cut of beef so perfectly cooked mid-rare, or a cheesecake so thick yet so soft all at once. It was a chance to show my girl what the finer things are like, and the cost was thankfully worth it.

I wish I can love this place. Two of my co-workers highly recommended it, and I highly regard their restaurant taste.
My partner and I went on a Valentine's dinner, with a fixed menu. We both chose the $125 per person meal. Our crab legs were frozen, our steak was not that great, and brussel sprouts were under seasoned. Although service was quick and attentive, that did not save the horrible and overpriced meal we had.

We found all the food underwhelming except the steak. The appetizer calamari was huge but not exceptional, the lobster tempura appetizer was over cooked and not in a tempura batter. Our Brussels sprouts on the other hand were undercooked, almost raw. The steak, however, was delicious and service excellent. Not enough to have us go back.

my wife and I went to Greystone for a pre-valentine dinner. We started out at the bar for happy hour & then moved to our reserved table for the main dinner experience. We had appetizers & cocktails at the bar. The food was good, but the drinks were weak & poorly made. My wife's cosmo martini was weak & watery & my Old fashioned was weak & improperly made. I was a bartender years ago at a fine 4 star restaurant. The menu said it was made with luxardo cherries. This drink was not, it came with those crappy pink cherries that DQ puts on hot fudge sundaes. Plus the whole taste was off. Would not order drinks at the bar again.
When we were seated for the dinner, the rest of the evening went well. The Chilean sea bass & the 10oz filet was prepared perfectly & paired well with wine.

Although the food was good the customer service was absolutely awful. First I waited to be seated at a booth for approximately 45 minutes and when I was seated even 5 minutes either staff and other guests kicked my chair. It was as if the restaurant brought in more chairs and tables to capitalize on profits. Then when the food was brought the steak was not cooked as requested and this dinner was to celebrate my Mother’s 75 Birthday. Lastly, exactly when the bill arrived (after waiting to pay) a staff member came over to apologize...it was way too late!

We came here for a date night during restaurant week, and it did not disappoint. Service was attentive but not overly attentive; my fillet mignon was the star of the show. There were a couple loud, large parties close to us, but the host said she could move us if it got to be a problem. Overall amazing food and atmosphere

Ribeye steak, which should have been the main event, was underwhelming, poorly seasoned and somewhat tough. The pork chop and the tuna appetizer were fine. The service was fine but always in a rush....You certainly didn't feel like you were getting their undivided attention....shouldn't have to ask for more water, especially twice. Seating was crowded and the place is loud. Overall it just wasn't the experience you'd expect in a "Prime" steak house. ...the bread wasn't even good.

Went here on a Wednesday night with a business associate and my wife. The place was busy and it took a while for the hostess to seat us. It took a longer while for the waiter to show up with a menu. It was during restaurant week, so that may be the explanation.

They have outdoor, down- and up-stairs seating. We ended up downstairs in a booth. A little cramped but OK.

This is a serious steak house and the selection is fantastic. We had a mixture of bison, fillet and salad for the meals. We also ordered desserts. The meals were well prepared and very tasty. It took so long for dessert to arrive that we took them to go. The desserts were thrown into a box and not much an experience when we got home.

The food is fantastic, the service was very much lacking. This is in a district with many restaurants and there are plenty of choices. Hate to say it but the service will make me go elsewhere, despite the great food.

Went for Restaurant Week Menu on Tuesday night. Had to specifically ask for the RW menu (server did not present it with the a la Carte menu). Knew what I wanted going into the restaurant so it should not have been a big deal. Well.. not so much. I ordered elk chop as the entree (listed on the RW menu). The server asked how I liked my “lamb” cooked (I will assume they ran out of elk as the side dishes were exactly the same as the elk). Whatever meat it was I was served was so tough and grisly, my steak knife could not cut through it and I gave up after about 3 or 4 bites. The appetizer and dessert were tasty enough, but the mystery meat left me cold. Would’ve been a much better value had the entree been edible since the appetizer and dessert were virtually free as part of the 3-course menu, but I could’ve saved money and had better dinner at Black Angus, Sizzler, etc.

Really a shame since this steakhouse is unique for its wild game offerings such as elk (I think I had venison there before) and should encourage you to go “off the beaten path” but made me regret not having steak instead (that everyone else does). I don’t think I will be returning to this restaurant.

The noise level made it hard to talk, mostly because the tables were really close together. You were constantly competing with the tables around you to be heard. Service was extremely slow, but when you finally got it, the food and drinks were cooked and made correctly. Other than the waygu offerings, which were decently priced, it’s a typical fine dining steak house. Nothing makes it stand out among the other steak houses around the area that you can dine for cheaper for the same quality of food and get a quieter, fine dining ambience.

This was my first time at Greystone and I had a wonderful experience! The staff was welcoming, had excellent customer service and they took the time to help me select the best entree for myself. For the drinks, I asked for a cocktail crafted for my specific taste and it was delicious! I plan to come back again

The ambience is great we dined upstairs which seems nicer than downstairs. The place is larger than it seems from the front and tastefully decorated. Our service was superior and the food was fantastic. I tried this during restaurant week for a date night. Perfect as the tables upstairs are situated so you can have a private conversation without shouting or hearing others around you. This was my first time trying this restaurant but I would go back.

Great service & great food. We were there for restaurant week. On the website happy hour is everyday. We went to the bar to get a cocktail before dinner & guess what.... happy hour not available during restaurant week :( What! Why? If you were going to the bar during happy hour why penalize everyone because its restaurant week. When we were seated they gave us the dinner menu. We had to ask for the restaurant week menu. Once we decided on a bottle of wine for dinner, the sommelier came by & of course suggested a much pricier bottle. A good pairing.
The food was delicious, the coffee nothing special. I think it was served with milk not cream.
Service was right on, no complaints.

The prime bone in filet was good, but not as good as Ruth's Chris. Grill cooking temperate was too low. The Pate' voie gras was good but that dish is a favorite of ours and we rated it middle of the spectrum of all we have enjoyed. Service was excellent even on a crowded Saturday night. Price for value rating I must say was too much $ for the quality. At 30-40% lower cost the price/value would be about right.

Recently had people from out of town visiting and opted to take them to a gaslamp favorite, greystone. As always the service was stellar, from start to finish. Every person from the hostess to the busser were smiling and friendly, with an apparent eagerness to serve. As for the food, I tried some new items off the menu rather than my tried and true favorites (waygu and mac and cheese on repeat for the last 3 visits). The buffalo steak was out of this world, one of the best cuts of meat I have ever had. However the highlight of the night was the local yellowtail. It was so delicious and fresh, I had to ask "where do you get your fish" apparently they get is directly from the fishermen - confirming the freshness I had tasted. As an added bonus, they directed me to the tuna harbor market on Saturdays. Went and picked up a fresh catch this morning and while delicious, I can't help but yern for the dish from Greystone again. Obviously I will be back!

Spent the evening with my girlfriend. We wanted something unique and local. Greystone definitely fit the bill. We sat outside and enjoyed the amazing San Diego weather and the Saturday night crowd on the streets. Wait staff was excellent and well versed in featured specials. Excellent wine list to accent the multiple options of Wagu and Kobe beef. Must try the wild boar sausage and the Kobe beef filet and lobster tail, nothing short of amazing. Great night, great staff, and amazing food. We will be back.
