Great food! Great service!
Another fabulous dinner with my husband. Food is always excellent. Was pretty disappointed to find out after we left that there was a 50% off black Friday special going on. I called the next day to see if it could be credited to our bill and was told no.
Food was good; service was spotty. Both the waiter & wine steward seem to push the more expensive plates/bottles. I’ve eaten at upscale restaurants before and never had to say “no” to recommendations so often at those other locations (if I’d wanted the older—more expensive—bottle of wine from that winery I would have said so). That definitely impacted the overall experience. And our bill was not small, so it’s not like we ate on the cheap. At this price point my ratings need to be higher in order to be a repeat customer.
We managed to get a reservation for thanksgiving dinner and it was such a lovely place. Great food and excellent service even though the restaurant was packed to capacity.
Overall meal and service were fantastic. Will definitely be back.
Joanna was Awesome!! Sarah is the best!! Always stop in to eat. Staff is great food is fantastic. Had Tomahawk Steak it was awesome but to big to eat it all.
The service was excellent; the food was superb. Highly recommend it
Overpriced. Mediocre food. The steak was not cooked correctly - a medium steak shouldn’t have a center that is cold and gelatinous, as if it was recently defrosted from being in a freezer. Sides were flavorless, calamari rubbery, and the waitstaff clearly we’re disappointed in us for not buying wine. I can only imagine what they would do to the wagyu beef on the menu!
The food was alright. Nothing to write home about in our opinion. The bearnaise sauce was absolutely awful. It tasted and looked like straight butter. Completely unacceptable for a steakhouse of this price and caliber. Honestly, not being able to master that was kind of the deal breaker for me. The meal was overall OK but for this price range there are much better options in San Diego. We will not return.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. The food is delicious and I love the vibe. It all starts with the wine list and you can't go wrong. I got a half bottle of Chateau Montelena Cab the first time I discovered this place and it was incredible!!! Get the Oysters Rockefeller to start.......they are awesome!!! I usually like raw oysters but these were recommended and they were well worth it. The medium rare bone-in rib eye was cooked perfectly. My date had the Wagyu and she loved it too!!! You can't go wrong with the sides but the lobster mac and cheese is a must. Leave some room for lava cake for dessert and thank me later. One of the best desserts I have ever had!!!
Met and exceeded our expectations !!!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to going back !!
Got the 20 oz prime 21 day aged bone in ribeye for $64 ..did not meet my expectations ..especially for a prime ribeye...and the bone was about two inches long...so not much bone in flavor. The lobster bisque was excellent. Service was slow after they took our order
Great dinner in the private room!
They hard sell you in over priced wine
We had two different wait persons tend to us, which got to be confusing.
We ordered the Wagu and was not told that the meat would come pre-cut. The Wagu was a little dry, maybe because the juices had dripped away in the back kitchen when it was sliced.
Nice ambience. Beautiful dining room with a good view of the wine cellar. 20 oz. Bone-in ribeye steak was perfectly cooked.
Side dishes selected were creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and broccoli. All very well prepared.
Server was knowledgeable and courteous. Only mistake he made was that he did not tell us that still water cost $7 a bottle for a total of $14. He had asked us only which type of water we wanted.
Restaurant advertised that it validated Horton Plaza Parking but lot attendant supervisor did not accept Greystone validation.
Food was good, hostess and manager VERY accommodating and professional.
Waiter was not so good, kept trying to push most expensive items and would interrupt our conversation several times for nothing in particular important.
Then as appetizers served introduced us to our new waiter because he was going home.
Menu had creative and different items which I enjoyed such as Wild Boar sausage for appetizer and Elk chop for dinner.
Wine list was fantastic as well, many great selections.
Prices are on the high side, we spent $150 per person total but definitely quality food.
If not for annoying waiter it would have been much more enjoyable ( our waiter replacement was much better).
In town to visit Family. Seated 45 mins after reservation. Then waited another 15 mins to have drink order taken. Once someone figured out we were seated in their section efforts were made to improve service. But first impressions are hard to change.
The food was just okay for the money.
Excellent food.. dinner in the private dining room with my friends:
20 OZ Bone In Rib Eye- Cooked to perfection (medium)
Wagyu Beef with Shaved Truffle (the softest meat ever that cuts with a butter knife)
Tomahawk Steak (Shared with my girlfriend because it's huge)
PorterHouse shared with friends (HUGE)
Bourbon Pork Chop cooked well done
Oyster Rockefeller (mmmm)
Ridge Buffalo Carpaccio (One of my favorites)
Wild Boar Sausage
Prime Filet Tartare (One of my favorites)
and many more....
Greystone is the place that I visit every time I am in San Diego!
Japanese wagyu with lobster tail is what I love.
Service is top notch and the ambiance and the decor is incredible
Great place for a date night. Food was slightly salty but overall delicious. Loved the Greystone Martini! Would definitely go again.
Best steakhouse in San Diego _ wagyu steak and Mac and cheese at the bar
If your looking for a Great Steakhouse in San Diego. Graystone Prime Steakhouse & Seafood is the place. A very nice upscale restaurant in the Gaslamp / Downtown area. The GM Sara and her staff are friendly with great service. The menu is great with a great selection of appetizers, salads, entrées, and great specialty drinks. So of my favorites are the Crab-cake, BLT Salad, Boar Sausage and Brussel Sprout and of course a filet. But was is Really Amazing Delicious is the Wagyu Beef. Had a wonderful dinner and evening out. Want a wonderful meal and time out Greystone's is the place.
This restaurant was so overcrowded that there was no room for the staff to work. Both my husband's and my son's chair were constantly bumped into by waitstaff throughout the meal. Our waiter was abrupt and rude and seemed to be as miserable as we were. The food was just passable definitely not worth the cost. My lamb chops were thin and overdone. Of 6 of us, only one person who ordered the chicken was pleased with their meal. Also, after going downstairs, back past the kitchen I find a line outside the bathroom 6 women deep as they only have 1 stall for a 2 story restaurant packed with people. There are many better options in the San Diego area.
I would not recommend Greystone. I had made a reservation weeks before and on the day of the reservation an hour prior I received a text that it was cancelled so I immediately called and they said ok I could come in. We were a party of 14 we all have kids we got babysitters and were looking to enjoy a nice dinner and catch up. When we arrived we were sat in two different tables squished together in the bar area that was super crowded and people kept passing by and bumping us. I asked to get a table together and I was told they were booked so they couldn’t accommodate us I said I made this reservation weeks prior and I would like to sit together so they ended us moving us around but they looked very upset as they were doing it.
So to the food, it was not steak house level food at all. The portions were extremely small and the wagyu beef was definitely not wagyu quality. Sides were not included and the lava cake was dry with no flavor. I would never eat here again.
The only thing that was positive was our waiter. He was very friendly very helpful and kept checking on us which was nice.
Best wagyu in San Diego
The food was DELICIOUS. However, if you're planning to box anything to take home, specify that you want the whole plate (sauces, meat, sides, small pieces, large pieces etc.) We had a porkchop plate with leftover meat from my husband's dish, my porkchop, and sides and we got home to discover only the porkchop was boxed.
It was entirely too loud however I get it was Restaurant Week and a Friday night in the Gaslamp. They were understaffed and there was not enough seats. They made a makeshift table for us under the stairs. My steak was not cooked to my liking and they didn't ask if it was or if everything was good. The hostess did her best as people were yelling at her if they were not seated in a timely manner.
Was surprised when bill came. I think because we were a large group, they thought they could add to menu without us noticing.... especially on liquor!
Went on a anniversery...the attention from the hostes to the waiter was outstanding!
Fantastic food with superior attention to detail!..great memories ..will eeturn as soon as we can..recommend 100!!!!!!!
Food was excellent! This place sits in the middle of all the bars and eateries on 5th street, but it is truly a 1st class steak house!
took too long, spacing between each course was excessive.
Unfortunately a terrible experience with poor service and one of the worst center cut filet mignon steaks I have ever had. Baked potatoes were under cooked as well. It would be impossible to have worst service as waiter never even asked if we needed anything until we finished. The only positive was that the manager did her best to make things right so I will write it off to simply a bad meal given the many positive reviews I have read. Given how nice the manager was I suspect most of the reviews are accurate and we were simply unlucky.
We had a party of 8 and made reservations via OpenTable. Later on, I received an email from the restaurant in order to confirm our reservations we had to sign a form and adding an additional 20% service charge which was ridiculous. It was SDRW week and we picked this place since it had $50 & $60 menu and it was closed to show we were going to watch at 7:30 p.m. With having reservations, they placed our table right when you come in, I guess that's the only place they can accommodate a table for 8. The food wasn't great and the service was horrible (maybe because they knew they were already getting a big tip). Sad! We didn't have time to eat our dessert since the time was getting close to our show and we were going to walk to San Diego Civic Center so we asked our server if he can box it up. We came as a couple and after awhile he handed us a couple bags where our desert was. We had to figure out who had what as we all didn't drive together or lived in the same household. Highly don't recommend this place, there are better places that don't tack on an additional 20% service charge.
Always amazing food here..........;()(;($$$;4;
Service was slow, we were not looked after as well as some of the other older and more well dressed customers which was very insulting. Very over priced for what you get, steak is average and the elk was horrendous had to send back, will not visit again
The meat was good and the service excellent but I find it extremely expensive!
Great service partnered with great food!
Great food and great service. This was truly a treat as it was the first time that 4 of our 6 had ever had Wagyu, let alone A5 Grade Wagyu. We had perfect pairings on the wine and were even provided a complimentary 20yr old tawny port after dinner.
The only negative came toward the end of the meal, when the 20 person table next to us was seated and the noise level rose to such a degree that we could no longer hear our own conversation. When 20 people decide that they're the only people in the room, they should either be offered a private room or be politely encouraged to tone it down. Cattle prods strategically applied to the necks of loudmouth offenders might also suffice, but more for the entertainment value of other guests and much less so for the legal fees of the restaurant.
