Greendale Farm Shop Cafe and Restaurant
Once you've eaten why not take a stroll along our family farm trail. The trails follow a level path that’s just right for pushchairs and little legs; you can potter over to feed the friendly chickens and ducks, visit Oscar the curious Ostrich and maybe take our vintage tractors for an imaginary ‘test drive’.

We have found Greendales meals very good and the customer service good too. Would recommend this place to friends and families.
I think you need to put a larger on that is not so strong like foster chilled you would sale more have a word with Matthew
Not accommodating for children with allergies, very slow service, poor communication
Unfortunately this 2nd visit in 10 days was not pleasant.
Table booked for 3. 15 for 6
Been seated over 25 mins and no one had taken our drinks order let alone food.
Despite it nearly being 4pm (15.55) by the time our order was taken, we couldn't order from the evening menu (3 of our party wanted grilled fish),
We ordered muscles for 3 as a starter... Meaning one bowl and three lots of bread and butter. (We were not advised this wasn't available on the lunch menu at this time)
My daughter ordered the steak baguette medium rare, I noticed it came with fried onions so ordered fried onions to go with my Rump Steak.
Drinks arrived but the waiting staff was obviously unfamiliar with the drinks or serving etiquette.
The food arrived. 3x Fish and chips were fine but when my daughters baguette arrived it was medium to well done and with a portion of onion rings and no fried onions - my daughter does not eat onion rings.
My steak arrived with a bowl of fried onions that the new waiting staff told us were to go with the baguette. We advised they had been ordered to go with the rump steak, the baguette was overcooked and to be returned so the fried onions could be sorted for the new dish.
Some time later my daughters dish was returned. Steak cooked well but no salad at all, no mayo, the onions were barely shown the pan and were predominantly raw.
For reasons I am unwilling to go into online, my daughter was left very distressed and what was meant as a celebratory meal (as indicated on the booking) ended up unpleasant and awkward.
The ongoing building works did nothing to add to the ambience and the intermittent background music just added to the chaotic nature of the event.
I would recommend Greendale Cafe but with the caveat of my recent visit.
The music was a little loud at 4.00 in the afternoon, maybe softer music for this time of day
My friends and I had a wonderfuk day yesterday, after our lovely meal, we walked around and said 'hello' to all the animals and birds. Then returned to the cafe and had a cup of tea.
Well ventilated and spaced, service and meal very good
The food was delicious as usual, we will be back soon!
Lovely meal as always! Great to have the outdoor covered dining area!
Food for 10.00 brunch was good and the service courteous albeit not speedy but this was OK given their workload and covid limitations, Good job we wore several layers of clothing as none of the staff could get the calor gas heaters to work!
I love coming to greendale and normally I would give 5 stars for everything but yesterday I thought the service wasn’t great. We were sat at our table that we booked at 9.15 we waited 20 minutes before I had to ask someone if we could order some drinks and food she said yes I’ll be their then never returned so I asked someone else who took our order.
Then we asked if we could order some more drinks when we finished our food.
order was taken and payed for 30 minutes later I asked if we were getting our tea and coffee the waiter remembered us ordering it and asked what time it was so I checked my bank account to see what time the payment went through the waiter said ok I’ll check. that was 30 minutes ago he then went to see and came back with a pen and paper to take the order again.
As I said normally it is 5stars I give but couldn’t for service yesterday.
We waiting over 45 minutes for our food and when mine arrived it was cold, I did send it back and was given a new meal.
Greendale have worked wonders with their outdoor seating area - and it feels safe and comfortable and had lovely views!
The good is good - a wide selection to choose from, and it is all fresh.
Definitely worth a try if you are in the area - but you might want to book as it is incredibly popular!
The food and staff were lovely but our table was near the exit and was very cold and windy. Our food and drink went cold before we had time to finish the meal. I’m afraid that we will not return until the inside restaurant is open.
Lovely food and extra cosy with blankets in the stormy weather.
Brilliant food and great to be able to go despite the Covid-19 restrictions, sitting outside but under cover and with heaters.
We enjoyed our breakfast at Greendale. The views are Amazing. The only bit which.let it down was the thin plastic bread which when toasted resembled ryvita. A little disappointing as the bread on site is good.
Steak was expensive and at least a third of it was fat and gristle on both plates, chips were cold and mushroom missing.
Sent back and received the same again, however we did each get a cold mushroom the second time.
Left hungry and dissatisfied (especially as we were charged for one of them!)
Tables well spaced out and on a wet, cold evening the heaters inside made it lovely and warm while sat at our table . Food was very nice. Will definitely go again !
The fish is really tasty and good value. The booking system worked really well.
Service was so helpful ,kind and efficient.Lived the experience.Thank you!
Good covered area with heaters. Friendly helpful staff and really good quality food.
Greendale have responded brilliantly to every new rule in terms of Covid. Well done
Was so lovely and food and service was absolutely amazing. Will be coming back. 👍 regards Diane
We had breakfast there and it is always of a good standard, good coffee and prompt service. One gripe plenty of toast and butter but oh for a serving of marmalade.
This was our first outdoor dining experience following the relaxation of lockdown rules. We read some reviews that were not very positive and wondered if we were going to regret this booking. I have to say we had an amazing night out. We were served throughout the evening by lovely young men that were a credit to your restaurant and were polite, courteous, professional and friendly. The food was cooked to perfection and the desserts went down a treat. We weren't cold as each table had a heater above them. Well done Greendale I think you have everything spot on.
Food was amazing defo be returning chap looking after are table was great
Lovely food, fast and friendly service, felt clean and covid safe. Plus we were there at sunset - the outdoor seating has a lovely view.
My Open Table reservation did not appear to have been registered on the Greendale booking system even though I had my email confirmation. Fortunately, there was a table available.
The new outside dining area is excellent, and despite a cool breeze the glass table surrounds and overhead heater were quite sufficient to remain comfortable.
Incorrect starter delivered to table initially, and when the calamari eventually arrived at table it was somewhat underwhelming and more like something that had come out of a catering freezer bag, rather than from a restaurant with its own wet fish counter.
Main course too (Hake) was ok, but did not have a "wow" factor and also a disappointment.
All this said, when we have had lunches at Greendale they have been excellent and we have not been put off returning.
Greendale has put a substantial amount of time, money and thought on how making their dining experience in current restrictions a pleasurable experience. Our server: Rhys was attentive and welcoming which added to the overall experience of enjoying good company, fantastic and delicious cuisine - even despite the rain. Throughly recommend.
The table wasn’t ready when we arrived. The people before were still on it! We had to wait for 15 mins after our booked slot.
Massive shoutout to the staff, my 10 month old daughter choked and was sick, the staff were brilliant, helped clean it up and offered to warm food back up. Thanks so much. See you soon.
Really well organised, staff very helpful and food was good.
Very good check backs and amazing food
It was a great night out after lockdown
Very nice cafe, friendly service, fantastic farm shop
Managed to book 5 mins before we got there and the table was already prepared for us. Tables were covered from the rain and heaters kept us warm! Lovely food and great honest staff who helped us with our food and drinks decisions. Have already booked to come again with friends!
Brilliant service, very good value food and a welcoming atmosphere
Lovely place to catch up with friends in great surroundings
We had mini breakfast with toast, nicely cooked and good flavour, definitely recommend,
Food good as always, service much improved from last year.
Canned music rather too loud
