The worst experience in New York City.
Our server didn’t bring our coffees for almost 15 minutes. All the while taking care of a women who came after us. She lied about the menu option and didn’t tell us until the food came to the table. My order was completely wrong, and my fiancé’s was ice cold. We asked to take it back and bring us the check. The manager still made us pay for our cold coffees. The server wouldn’t even come back to the table to apologize or take our payment.
Disappointing on so many levels!
1) so dark i had to use my phone torch to read the menu. Menu lights would help. Also difficult to see what i was eating.
2) order still water it came to the table in a plastic bottle ice cold which the waitress plonked on the table with a glass to pour myself. As i was drinking red wine room temperature should have been provided, but they didn't have any.
3) food arrived fast and furious. Ribs were overcooked, which suggests they were pre-cooking courses, and arrived as my starter was taken away.
4) i had to order my dessert at the beginning as this was off the special menu, which makes it very un-special. I would probably have chosen differently, but couldn't change. Again this suggests everything is plated up well in advance.
5) staff were keen but untrained, i was twice asked how my food was before i had started.
Stepping into Green Fig you feel as if you were transported into another place and time. The vibe was relaxed, urban, trendy, and cool. The service was outstanding and we never had to ask for anything. Our server was on top of all our needs and he had great recommendations for cocktails, wines and food. The food was fresh, local and delicious. Each food item was presented beautifully and flavors were on point. I would definitely recommend Green Fig.
We didn’t expect the restaurant to be inside a hotel, but really enjoyed the experience once we found it. We ordered the 3-course fixed price meal they were running for Christmas. The food was amazing and service was great!
Food was very good , a bit overpriced but overall we like it
We really enjoyed our pre-theater meal here - it's a perfect location for Signature Theater, the New Group and Playwrights Horizons, and even for Broadway. A very nice, three-course, prix-fixe menu. Good portions and very flavorful food. And our server, Angel, was superb. Definitely worth a visit.
The food was fine. I’ve had better of nearly everything we ordered except the Mediterranean donuts, which were delicious. Otherwise, it was a fairly average dining experience.
Everything about this restaurant is wrong.
- Online descriptions fail to tell you that it is located in the Yotel, which is an economy hotel.
- Despite the fact that we may have been his only table, our server wanted to be somewhere else besides serving us
- Ingredients for the mezze plate were mixed in another century and were mediocre at best. When we asked for more pita bread, we were told that would have to pay for a seperate Pita bread order.
- The Burrata is smothered in poor-tasting smears and jellies
- Despite being marketed as a mediterranean restaurant, the Kebabs were overcooked and terrible.
- The mixed drinks featured on the cocktail menu were weak and had very little alcohol
My husband and I went to NYC to see a concert and decided to stay at the Yotel. This restaurant was onsite and had good reviews so we thought we’d give it try. The food was OK really nothing special.
After a hellish Uber ride from the west Village we finally arrived an hour later. Luckily I was able to make a 9:00 reservation after the Green Fig cancelled our 8:00 reservation as a no show. We arrived at 8:30 but apparently they didn’t notify open table that we had arrived. I told them about the new reservation. The drinks were good and a welcome relief after the ride to the hotel!
Lovely service. Lovely atmosphere. Delicious food. We had a great time!
Excellent food, calm ambience - one of the rare restaurants where you can hear yourself and your companions talk!!
Chef Yuval is the best!!! Everything was impeccable!!! We will be back
Tucked away on the fourth floor of the Yotel Hotel in Hell's Kitchen, the Green Fig is an easy walk to the theater district but away from the rush of pre-theater diners. The staff are warm and welcoming. The room is large and spacious, and has a wall of windows to watch the sun set. The menu is varied Israeli/Middle Eastern, with reasonable prices. We did have an issue with the wine, which is pumped with CO2 rather than poured from bottles, creating an unexpected bubbly effervescence; but a new glass was quickly brought. The mezze platter was more then enough for two; we will go back and try more.
Very well served and the Chef took effort to come out and meet us so we got the chance to tell him directly how great the food was.
We were not expecting a rooftop bar type place with only a few tables. Our waiter was outstanding however the food left a lot to be desired. We each ordered a dish on a brioche and mine was the eggs benedict on top. Frankly it was more bread than anything else and didn't resemble a brioche at all. The eggs and spinach were very salty and I didn't enjoy the dish. Our waiter recommended an eggplant dip with pita as a start and that was outstanding. He was personal and very helpful.
Many healthy choices. A delicious brunch with terrific service.
This particular Saturday evening, there was a sizeable group, mostly at the bar, that was unusually noisy. Fortunately, the host seated us a distance away. I'm used to the Green Fig being calm. Nonetheless, the nearby rowdiness did not keep us from enjoying our dining experience.
Good food. Portions could be a bit larger. Friendly and helpful staff.
I had the tasting menu. The califlower appetizer was submerged with two different creams. Also the main, with rice and meat, was very heavy.
The best thing was the crème brûlé, worth the wait.
Close to the theater district, very friendly and competent service. Tasty, well prepared food. All in all a good choice.
I'll start with I would go back. Food was very good. Had shrimp appetizer and the potato Cesar salad. Both very good. Had to flag down someone to ask for salt and pepper and another drink. Overall good experience.
Upon arriving, we were informed we could not be seated due to private event. Maybe block off those times next time.
I had a wonderful hamburger, prepared medium rare as I like it, and plenty messy! My wife loved her hummus. As a surprise, they asked us to sit in a different room and it turns out there was a singer doing Barbara Streisand, which was fun. We had tickets for the show at the Signature theater, so this was really convenient.
Overall the Green Fig is a favorite
Being a hotel and in an area where one needs their phone / laptop-
It baffles my why no plugs! Especially under the outdoor bar. Yes I know there’s a ‘charging station and plugs on the inside bar’, but plugs outside would help
The apps are the best part of the menu-
Entrees have never been a favorite
Cocktails are good yet there needs to be a better selection of beer
Add bud lt! A simply, drinkable beer one can turn to after your big ‘cocktails for two’
Overal-go...enjoy and get apps—-like the dips and shrimp with polenta
What a gem of a restaurant, and so well located as well!
A terrific find, and right in the theater district, too.
Disappointing meal for the price. Very nice server, though!
It was nice, open place. Friendly waitress and maire'D. But it took quite some time for us to get a glass of water and the menu. The place is too big to be served by just 1 waitress. Otherwise, the food and service was good.
Great .! Waitress was great. Loved the Eggplant Bechamel.
I live in the area and was excited to try this restaurant out. Unfortunately, it was a standard hotel restaurant. Food was competent, but unexciting. Don't be fooled by "Authentic" menu. There were maybe 3 "Mediterranean" dishes on menu, the rest were hamburgers and typical American fair. Waiter was friendly and attentive (especially given how far we were sitting from the bar). However, kitchen sent appetizers and entree's out together... so the steak (dry) and burgers/fries were cold by the time we got to them. Most diners were out-of-towners and drunk (one exceedingly wasted girl tried to hit us up for pot)... a jersey-shore selfie fest. If you want real mediterranean food, go to MeMe two blocks away. This one is only for the guests at Yotel.
The outdoor space was charming, relaxed and hip. The food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. Not too packed or overwhelming on a Saturday night. I will definately go again
Loved the outdoor area and colorful decor! Excellent service. Delicious Mezze plate, quinoa salad and pina colada flan.
LOVE this quiet restaurant. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Perfect for work or social dinners. Lovely and fun!
the crab eggs Benedict were overcooked and when I mentioned it, the took the plate back to the kitchen only to bring the same plate with an over easy egg on top. The side salad had no dressing.
Great location for a not too pricey pre theater meal
Counter or lounge type seating
Limited air conditioned seating
We loved our meal and the ambience of Green Fig. We were staying in Yotel and had breakfast and dinner at Green Fig. I would recommend both. Brunch was a disappointment on Saturday morning because it was not in Green Fig but at the bar and was more or less a repeat of the dinner menu - Skip the brunch as the Breakfast was lovely and dinner was extraordinary. I shared the mezzo tastings platter and we each had a flatbread - too much food! Everything was wonderful.
Breakfast I had my own pot of coffee and a lox English muffin - very generous on the lox and filling.
The service here was terrible. I spent most of my time trying to get someone's attention. The food was good and came out quickly, it just took forever to be able to place an order.
The food was delicious. We each enjoyed our options. The salmon was perfection.
The menu does NOT match what’s listed here. The sever was very sweet, but the food just wasn’t good.
