I was not expecting much, but was really blown away by the food. Try the bacon maple donuts, they are surprisingly mild (I was expecting them to be overwhelmingly heavy).
Food was delicious! A little on the pricier side but was delicious. The decor is super cute and outdoor patio area was nice.
There was 4 things on the menu we would have liked to have but they were out of it. All three of the great Maple tryed n true weren't available at 7:30 on Saturday night.😞
Server was nice, but the service was poor. The runners were confused, didn’t clear the table before bringing more food, and we sat there for 10 minutes with dessert, but no utensils! Not in a rush to go back!
I found the Great Maples down at City Heights to be much better than UTC. We sat in the patio, and it was very noisy with cars driving fast. The heaters were on super hot, and when we asked to turn down a bit, they said it's not adjustable. We were given too small of a table for a party of 12, so when we asked if we can take another table near by in addition to our bigger table, and the hostess rolled his eyes. Seriously, the patio was empty when we got there. I found the fried chicken and maple bacon donut to be mediocre. Not really worth the bill.
Came here to check out their happy hour deals! Good food! Service was good; quite a busy place.
Absolutely loved the Fried Chicken and Doughnuts! A new fave for the family.
The young people in this restaurant looked like they were enjoying their food.
I didn't like the menu or the ambiance at all!!
The specialty items were mostly very high fat fried things which might be delicious but wouldn't be something I'd eat except maybe once to try them.
My friend enjoyed her fish tacos but my avocado toast and chicken was nothing as I had expected.
The patio seating is by the side of a busy road where eventually the trolley will be running so not exactly a lovely setting! Perhaps inside in a corner would have been better but as it was we were shouting to hear ourselves chat.
We like trying new places but I won't be back!
Service was awful and slow
Horrible service and overpriced
Overall, had a very good experience. My BLT and my friend's burger were both very good. We also ordered a maple bacon donut and the beignets. We both agreed that the beignets were just so-so. Not as soft as they should be when you bite in them. My friend decided that she's not a sweet/savory donut eater, but I enjoyed it. I do like the new UTC location as it's much roomier than the Hillcrest location. We had a reservation, but still had to wait a few minutes for our table. Our server was pleasant and accommodating.
It’s a beautiful space and the intentions of the staff are good. We are regulars at the original location and this just paled in comparison on every level and we were bummed. We went for my daughters birthday which was not acknowledged. We ordered three egg dishes (one poached, one sunny, and one scrambled). All three were remarkably over cooked. My son didn’t eat his dish at all and no effort was made to remedy that. Being young doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to enjoy your meal! Our were both redone and that was kind but the speed at which then came out was slow and offset so none of us got to actually eat our meal together. There was no compensation offered and no real concern. Please don’t tell us your kitchen is very busy on Sunday when I am paying $18 a dish. You are IN THE BUSINESS OF SUNDAY BREAKFAST! We won’t be back. Super disappointing.
Quick seating and great food!
Place was amazing. For a Sunday it was obviously packed. We had reservation and they sat us down immediately. We order the donuts and they didn’t disappoint. They tasted like heaven. I got the chilaquiles, and they were a shareable size. The only downside of this visit was twice we were told they were out the dishes we wanted. It was a very busy Sunday brunch which is understandable, but it still limited our options. Other than that we loved it.
I was super excited to go and my food was not that great.. maybe my expectations were too high. The service was slow and it wasn’t that busy, we asked for a spoon for the coffee and the girl said that they were all being used so she offered us a fork instead, that was strange.
Cappuccino was very tasty, I ordered the white egg frittata and half was undercooked.
Not sure if I would go back
The menu is different from the original location which is a bummer. The food itself mediocre and menu had limited options. The only positive thing about it is service and reservation on the weekend
I ordered the pancakes for my kids, awful, not tasty at all, besides that, everynthig was great!! Great coffe and great service.
The noise of the buses on busy Genesee avenue is prominent. It sometimes becomes difficult to have a pleasant conversation. Other than this, the food, service, staff are excellent!
We basically we come here for the maple bacon donuts. But having said that their regular food that we’ve tried is amazing. Good size portions and delicious. The cauliflower hummus is 😍😍the Mac and cheese and toast. Delicious coffee as well
This was a birthday visit to Great Maple. The food and service were excellent. The restaurant design is modern and warm. I ordered the Caesar salad, which was delicious, and I also had a burger that was excellent! (I love burgers!) There were four of us, and we all enjoyed the entire experience. The waiter gave the "birthday girl" a complementary drink, which she very much enjoyed. The view has a "city feel" as the UTC area expands roads and the city's trolley system. All in all, this is an excellent restaurant: menu, food, service, environment. Thanks for the great addition to UTC!
Presentation was good but not the taste of the food.
Nice new digs. I will go there again. More spacious than Hillcrest, which I love too.
Food was ok, could use more vegetarian options and more fresh fruit and veggies. A little overpriced for brunch and not amazing for the price, but ok.
The only difficult thing about Great Maple is trying to find it! We were not the only ones who had that problem. It's impossible to find the first time you go there. My friend, who has trouble walking, just about gave up. They need to have some signage inside the parking structure.
Great Maple exceeded my expectations. Upon first walking up to the front door and entering the restaurant, my first impression is it is strikingly gorgeous. The overall feeling was clean, bright and airy. There is light olive vinyl cushion bench seating with rosewood accented chairs. I really liked that you didn’t feel squished. The light fixtures have a modern sputnik flair. There is also a large enclosed patio so you get the fresh air and feeling of being outside without being nuked by the sun.
To start off with, my two friends and I shared the maple bacon donuts. You receive three large donuts in an order. The maple glaze and bacon pieces make the dish. The donut itself is dense and you are able to chew it. I don’t like donuts that melt in your mouth so I enjoyed this one. For my cocktail, I ordered the Flowers & Champagne as I love St Germaine. Usually I can’t taste the St. Germaine but in this drink, I definitely could. I loved it! For my brunch entree, I selected the Chilaquiles. The order was huge. Much too much food. The chorizo was a little overpowering. I think there was too many toppings going on that I lost the tortilla chips in everything and they became soggy. However, I did like it.
We were waited on by Chaz. He was very friendly and accommodating. He gave us his recommendations on the menu and why each was popular. He checked in on us at least four times. I don’t know if it was to get us to eat faster as the place was packed or he was just trying to make sure we had everything we needed. He wasn’t pushy. He provided us with good service.
The prices are a bit higher than the average place but given the quality of the food, location and good service, I was fine with the bill total. For my group of three, our individual checks were $36. We shared a starter and each got a cocktail.
I recommend this restaurant to all. I need to bring my mom by as she loves a good brunch spot.
We work at UTC and wanted to try the restaurant. Everyone loved their food and drinks. It did take a long time and we only had an hour for lunch, which we ended up being there 1.5 hours. I'm sure it's because they are new. We all would definitely go back.
Very nice comfortable with American Comfort food plus good salads. Good for families and check location within UTC by calling them or can be difficult to find
Very crowded and loud. Service was good as was the food, but previous visits to their Fashion Island location were much more pleasant and the quality of the food seemed better there. Maybe they are still getting into their groove with this new location so will give them another try.
They have popovers on the weekends and they are delicious!! All the food is great. The service was wonderful.
The beignets with lemon curd and the maple bacon donuts are must on every visit. The La Jolla location is larger and easier to get seating. Our server was very very friendly and accommodating for our group.
Fun brunch with family, upon arrival was greeted with amazing service, food was delightful and overall what a great experience at Great Maple new location.
This is the new location at UTC Mall. We were excited to have this location open up closer to our home but slightly disappointed. We decided we actually prefer the smaller location in North Park as they offer gluten free pancakes which my daughter and I were looking forward to and other items they don’t offer at this location. Also the parking at this location is more involved I think we’ll spend the extra time and venture to the other one
Really great food and an average price. The portabella mushroom fries were great and the apple pie was exceptional.
Drinks took forever to arrive (way after appetizers), not enough glasses or silverware on table (grabbed from empty table next to me), my mother’s chicken was not cooked all the way through. So disappointed since i LOVED great maple in Newport Beach! UTC location needs some work plus impossible to find and if they don’t fix issues plus location , they won’t make it.
Service was exceptionally slow for a family with kids. but they had just recently opened.
The food and our server was excellent. But I was disappointed that there was no changing table in the restroom. We had brunch and brought our son
Hard to find from the mall but otherwise great
Cole was a great server!
Loved Great Maple! Went for breakfast Sunday morning... heating lamps were an extra touch. Rose all day drink was great... food portions were large.. loved it! Fresh fruit... and decor was awesome. We will be back.. thank u!
Cold, unwelcoming, fast food interior, absurdly limited menu emphasizing relatively expensive comfort food which was not particularly well executed, a young server who brought our bottle of white wine to the table, opened and poured it into four glasses and left the bottle on the table (later apologizing by explaining it was her first day as a server and no one explained the protocol). We will not repeat!
