Great food. Good service. Busy place!
The food was very mediocre to say in the least. The donuts were the best part of my meal as far as taste buds go. The ambience was very nice; cute seating, arranged tables, and silverware but not enough variety of brunch choices. The service from the waiter is mainly what encouraged me to submit this review. He didn’t ask how the food tasted, offer alternatives, nor was he attentive to detail when taking my order for the table. I repeatedly had to ask him for things. Do better, Great Maple!
Upscale dining in a suburban mall...really a wonderful interlude to shopping.
We had the Cobb Salad which was creatively presented and light and fresh, not the usual too rich Cobb. Yum.
My selection was delicious. Friends felt the same about their meals.
Food was ok. My friend got the chicken and donuts and loved it, although the donut was undercooked. I had the chicken bowl that was at least healthy if not a bit boring. They forgot our biscuits, but I'm glad I asked for them to be brought because I really liked them. I'd definitely pass on getting the dijon cauliflower side - way too heavy of flavor for cauliflower. I really liked the decor, and would love to spend some time at the bar.
Food took a long time to come out. Came out cold. Then the kid who was cleaning up the tables spilled a whole tub on me. A few glasses broke around and my back was soaked with whatever liquid was in there. He apologized but nobody else came up to say anything nor show any sort of concern for a customer.
Hamburger was cooked rare instead of well done as requested. Waitress forgot to write separate checks, food was discounted but she gave receipts to the wrong people. She lacked interest and enthusiasm. The other Great Maple in hillcrest area is wonderful, though and so are the waiters.
I was disappointed. Ive been to the one in North Park and that one was great. Since this one is closer to my house, I decided to give it a try. I made a reservation so there was no wait, but our water glasses were dirty and noone came around to check on us for so long that I finally went to the bar to ask for clean ones myself, then the 2nd set of glasses were also dirty so I finally asked for disposable cups. Perhaps the dishwasher wasn't working properly that day?!? But there were actual chunks of food dried and crusted on the water glasses. When we got our food it was cold, but didnt bother saying anything just because the service to that point had been pretty bad already...I guess I didnt want to waste anymore time expecting better. We were literally checked in on once through the entire meal and when we were ready to go, we waited and waited and finally got up again to ask for to go boxes and the bill. Hopefully they were just short staffed or something but I felt like it was a waste of my money and won't be returning.
put notes in reservation that we were celebrating my sister’s bday whom was visiting fr TX. restaurant didnt do anything special for her. service was slow this time around and my sister was starving coming straight from her flight into SD. we got complimentary biscuits from our server after several stares at him wondering where our food was but then our food came right after so that was kinda pointless.
Food took ages to come (1 hour wait) even my kids pancakes and eggs! Kids were starving!
Was too warm inside.
Had to try the donuts and the beignets! Was not disappointed!
Thought I’d never step into another great maple after hillcrest fiasco. But UTC is a different place! Great service and food. Still won’t go back to Hillcrest. Albeit parking and location was challenging UTC is awesome!
Fun menu with a lot of choices for all appetites. Our waitress was great and super friendly.
Just like the Hillcrest location - Great Maple continues to provide great food, service and creative atmosphere. A great addition to the UTC scene.
We arrived at 11:15am to a fairly empty restaurant. Our food didn’t arrive until 12pm. 1 hr 14 min total at restaurant, 45 mins waiting for food to be at the table, with two young kids. At the 40 minute mark our server finally let us know it would be about 5 more minutes and only then brought out some toast for the kids. Appreciated the gesture but it was about 20 minutes too late. We heard two different reasons for the delay, one that the kids chicken was taking a long time and the other that a printer was broken (but no other table seemed to have the kind of delay we experienced) Additionally, the kids menu is out of date, as they apparently no longer serve sweet potato bites. No mention was made of this when we ordered. I asked about it when the food arrived and only then were we offered French fries in substitution. Finally, as we were trying to pay (had to ask for the check three times) we asked for refills on our Moroccan tea. Server didn’t know that the Moroccan iced tea came with one refill as printed on the menu. All in all, our experience at Great Maple was not great. Across the board, no one we interacted with seemed to care or too concerned beyond an apathetic “sorry about the wait”
The service was very good. Ambiance was great! The food was amazing!!!!! We had the fried chicken and donuts and also the French toast logs. It was a perfect brunch between old friends
This restaurant has great items on the menu. We both ordered salads and they were great. And the cold peach pie on a summer day was a perfect choice as well. We also enjoyed 1/2 price wine night on Wednesday. They are conveniently located near Nordstrom at the P3 level of the parking structure (with one of the entrances off Genesee - across from Coste Verde Shopping Mall ).
It was my second time back to Great Maple. We ordered fried chicken with maple bacon donuts and it was amazing. The chicken was very tender and the donuts were so fresh. Bacon bits are definitely the icing on the top. We also ordered the hamburger and it was just as good. The portions are generous and services are wonderful. Definitely highly recommend.
had a great time, incredible music playlist! had a lovely evening with my wife on our one year anniversary. 11/10 would go back
We went for dinner this week and the restaurant was so hot and stuffy. There was no ventilation in the dining area and the ac was not able to keep the dining area cool. Totally unpleasant.
Maple donuts are amazing
Food was good the staff was not very knowledgeable on what and how the food was prepared
Great Maple downtown has better food, faster service, and bigger portions. Great Maple at UTC has a much better layout and isn’t as crowded. It took an hour to get our food and it wasn’t that busy at UTC. It’s easier to fix the problems at UTC than downtown! I and my wife were both disappointed.
The food is way over priced, took almost 40 min. to get our food after ordering, waitress never came around and was hard to find her when I needed something, didn't like answering questions, will be a long time till We return. There no parking
I LOVE great maple in Hillcrest, this one was a big let down. Food was not as good, menu was limited and service was super slow.
Now one of our go to places in La Jolla once you learn where to park in UTC. Outdoor seating ambiance pretty stark as compared to Newport Beach venue and many tables very long hard benches suitable for a picnic in the park but not in a reasonably priced nice restaurant. Hope they change this .
Busy, loud, energetic spot. Limited menu with high prices. Great coffee and friendly service. I like that they take reservations. The decor is trendy and cute. Food okay with small portions.
This restaurant is going through definite start-up pains. The server was completely overwhelmed. We kept receiving the wrong orders in both drinks and food. For our entrees, we were told they were out of salmon at 6;30PM on a Saturday evening. Poor planning by the chef/restaurant. Additionally we were told that we could not substitute Seabass (or other white fish) for the salmon on our entree salad. After asking to speak with the manager they agreed to give it to us at the market price but then ended up with a 1 oz piece of white mystery fish on the salad.
Will definitely not return until they get their act in kitchen and staffing together, if at all.
Too bad because it could be a cool place to eat at UTC.
Food is great! Service good but server overwhelmed. Was very loud - street noise plus crowded. I am glad we made a reservation! Otherwise a 90 minute wait on a Saturday morning.
I would definitely go back!
The food was outstanding and the place had a great atmosphere. The service, however, was very slow at the beginning. When we asked on the status of our drinks (25 min after ordering) to the first person to come back to our table, we received a defensive response from the waitress saying that the drinks take a long time. Mind you, the place was not even half full and or busy. After we pointed out that it wasn’t normal waiting 25 min for a beer and a glass of wine, she quickly looked to the bar and acknowledged our concerns as she noticed that our drinks that were just sitting at the bar waiting to be picked up. At that point, we realized that the place needed more direction/coordination. Shortly thereafter the service picked up when a manager/supervisor came to the scene and things quickly changed for the better and our evening was salvaged and we really enjoyed our experience.
Great experience and delicious food! Our sever was wonderful and helpful! Yummy drinks and very tasty entrees
Bright. Nice high ceilings. Comfortable seating. They offer fried chicken and donuts. Now that's unusual. Really fun but noisy.
Food was delicious, but service was very slow and didn’t get napkins and silver wear till halfway through the meal
Great! Our server was wonderful and love the maple glazed bacon donuts and pork rib sweet potato hash!!
We try the cauliflower hummus to start and it was very good. Followed that with the brick chicken which was phenomenal tasting and very crispy.
Very good will come again
Bad service, with attitude, mediocre meals and very expensive for what we got.
Complained to the Mgr and he gave us a card for a complimentary donut with purchase of a next meal.
There won’t be a next meal so we left his “gift” on the counter
We sat inside because with all the construction going on in Genesee, the noise level in the patio was too much.
Everything was super delicious. They were very busy and we are so glad that we had a reservation.
We had brunch reservations for the outside patio, and it was a very hot day, unfortunately their ceiling fan in our section was not working. The staff did a great job of moving us to a table inside the restaurant, thank you, thank you, thank you. Their staple GM donuts are a great appetizer to share and to pair with an ice cold stout. Portions are huge, think about sharing.
