I usually have a great experience here but I think the server was not at his best this day. This was the first time my business partners had eaten there and I was hoping for them to have a wonderful experience. So that we can book more business meals here. Our server couldn’t remember menu items or what came with certain meals. He explained that he was tired because he had just finished with his “other job” and was confusing the menu items because of that reason. He was very slow in delivering our drinks and meals. He also only checked on us twice during the 2 hours we were there. This has never been the experience I’ve had in the past. It was a disappointing.
We were happy to see Great Maple coming to Pasadena, especially since we had gone to Torrance and Orange County branches of Great Maple. We had Truffle Portabello Fries as well as the bruchetta for appetizers. Both exceptionally delicious as well as our entrees. There were 4 people in our party, one having fried chicken with maple bacon donuts; another having bbq ribs, chicken, and salad with steak. We shared our entrees and all were cooked perfectly; full of flavor and absolutely delicious. Restaurant probably needs more servers but everything was great.
Horrible raw food was served returned the food kept bringing me raw dough. My eggs were raw the yolk was raw. They added all these things we didn’t order to the bill...will never come here again horrible
The food was very good but the restaurant is loud, almost too loud to talk.
I’m not one for writing long reviews. The best endorsement I can give to a restaurant is to return. I’ll be back!
All entrees at table were very flavorful, and presented well. We tried Salmon, Chicken and Steak. The Bacon Maple Doughnut desert was an amazing guilty pleasure that I would recommend. No issues with service nor did we want for anything during our meal. The clean Margarita was also very good.
Excellent menu and a wonderfully live atmosphere make Great Maple GREAT!
Also, if you only go once, someone has to order the Doughnut and Chicken!!!
The overall dining experience was definitely forgettable except for our server. He was great and seemed to be one of the few seasoned professionals on the staff. Overall, the service was chaotic and slow. Our server was the sole bright spot! When the kitchen messed up drink order, he fixed it. He did his best to speed things along. My partner had the steak frites which was edible, but far from memorable. I had the broiled sea bass which was dry as a bone. Our server came over to see how the meal was going and when he saw my sea bass, he suggested taking it back and bringing a replacement before I could make the request! The second one was only slightly more moist. I won't be going back to Great Maple any time soon.
Our food took forever and we almost missed our event. The management handled the situation well and were apologetic, but I much rather would have had my food in less than the 1 hour 15 minutes that I waited.
Food was good, but wouldn't go back because of the wait.
Birthday. Everything was great
Nice patio seating
It was too loud in the restaurant, but we were able to move outside, which was great.
Wait staff is oblivious and orders come out incorrect with no one to check on the table. It takes forever to get your waiters attention and then even more time to get the check settled.
I’ve been here a few times and loved the food so much that I couldn’t wait to take my family. The service is always great. The food (a Monday at lunch) was fair, but it lacked the depth of flavor that I’ve come to expect from this restaurant.
It made me wonder if they give their head chefs the day off on Monday after a busy weekend.
I had to add salt to everything, and I’ve never reached for a salt shaker here before.
Nothing was bad. But it certainly wasn’t worth $90 for three people at lunch.
A large group of eight and everyone loved it. We started with the Maple Donuts and Beignets. While the Beignets were tasty the vote was overwhelmingly for the donuts. Every brunch dish was perfect and because the portions are generous, everyone had leftovers to take home! The service was superb. Our only complaint was the noise level. But everyone in the restaurant was having a good time, so we gave it a pass and joined in. Everyone will be coming back!
We came here hoping for a good meal & nice atmosphere. We got exactly what we wanted!
Our server was super nice and most of the food was very good. We didn’t really care for the flat iron steak w/chimichurri as it needed more sauce and lacked flavor. The maple bacon donut also could’ve been better - IMHO it needed to be a lighter fluffier dough w/crunchy (instead of soft) bacon. That said we would definitely come back as there are many more items we’d like to try.
All the food was excellent. Hummus and pita - delicious. Drinks were amazing. Beignet dessert was a disappointment - lemony flavor and tougher texture missed the mark.
Great service and delicious food.
I’ve dined at Great Maple before and experienced long delays in drink service (even just beer and wine, no cocktails; I perish the thought of how long I might wait for those), but on this occasion I was privileged to have a front row seat for my date’s and my beers sitting at the bar unaccepted by our server for more than eight minutes. Twice. In fact, the second round was delivered by a different server who was so attentive that beverages were sitting at the service bar for so long and took it upon himself to deliver them. (Perhaps four tables was too much for our server to handle.) My pithy remark thanking our surrogate server for rescuing our abandoned beverages was met with nervous laughter, but unfortunately no visit from the manager (who checked in maybe 1/3 of the tables in our area).
Food was decidedly above average but when the service is so poor you’re wagering on how much longer your drinks will sit in full view, you can understand how that’s what would be remembered.
Fantastic time. We were a party of four. Service was great and we all tried something different so we could all share. Wonderful time.
Such a nice place to spend with friends, awesome food. Loved their healthy dishes. We went to celebrate my good friends birthday and we had a great time. I will go back soon loved their customer service.
This was our first time at this restaurant. After arriving maybe 5 minutes after our reservation, we were not seated for another 20-25 minutes. Once we were seated, our waitress arrived and asked us if we wanted drinks. We ordered drinks but did not get our waters for another 10-15 minutes after receiving our drinks. Half-way into our dining experience, an alarm of some sort was sounding throughout the restaurant for several minutes. Not one staff member explained what was going on, which I thought was very strange. All in all, we will not be going back. The food was tasty, but the service was mediocre and the noise level was too loud for our taste.
I like this restaurant. The food, the decor...nice staff but the food comes out very slowly. I share this sentiment with several friends. We all say great food. But we wait for a long time for the food...I missed a movie once because the food too so long. Last night we waited a long time, and flagged down a waiter, to order drinks, then to order food, then to get food. Food was good. Drinks were good...but...restaurant needs to get this under control.
We sat on the patio and had a great lunch. I like seeing that it is a dog-friendly establishment, got to sit next to a corgi! The Kale & Brie salad, it was delicious! I would definitely come back and would consider bringing in a large group.
Took my parents here for their wedding anniversary (almost 40 years) and while the food was enjoyable, the service was deplorable. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and waited almost 20 minutes for more horseradish - by the time I got it my sandwich was cold. We had asked if they would do anything for the special occasion and the server said he'd check with the manager but we never were told what the result was...we also brought it up again before paying the check and again nothing. Very disappointed with what could have been a nice meal with my parents and fiancee.
Delicious! Did not expect the decadence of the maple bacon donuts!
Server & Manager were both GREAT. Both were very friendly & attentive. I left my phone behind & ran into the manager w/ it, on her way out to find me. That was really cool. SHE was really cool.
This was my first visit and will not be my last. Everything was exceptional. I had the maple glazed donuts and fried chicken. Whew! What a fantastic meal. My taste buds were extremely happy! The fish tacos were served at the next table, and they looked delicious. A coworker shared this eatery and so thrilled she did.
The manager Angel came over and welcomed us.
Our waiter Michael was fast and friendly.
Great food. Love the brick Chicken.
Dog friendly patio.
I would highly recommend this restaurant! The ambiance, service, and food were all great! Can’t wait to go back.
My friend and I went for brunch on a weekday, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The staff was very attentive and courteous, and the food was delicious and came quickly. Great Maple itself is a very beautiful space, with comfortable seats and spacious tables.
Every time I go there, amazing food, amazing everything!! Great Maple is now my favorite restaurant in Pasadena! Highly recommend the beignets too.
Really like this place, good vibe, easy to talk business and to socialize w/my dining companion. Javier provided excellent wait service, though when he was asked about the different salads he said he had never tasted any of the salads. (Management should think about letting staff taste the food.) . Hostess who seated me was grumpy when I asked to be seated one table away from street noise, which was odd given the entire restaurant was empty at 6 PM. Then, when she did seat me, she handed me the menu and said, "Well, um, I don't know what to say." How about "I hope you are comfortable here, have a nice meal." An odd way to start an evening. Otherwise had an enjoyable experience. Love looking at historic City Hall and post office in evening lighting across from the patio.
Searted immediately, took awhile for the waiter to arrive
Went with some girlfriends just for dinner. The deviled eggs & artisan bread were the appetizers. The deviled eggs were good & the bread had a mix of soft cheese w/tomatoes & balsamic I think; & the other a guacamole & corn salsa relish.
We had main courses of steak; swordfish & pulled pork sandwich. I wanted steak med/well & it came med/raw; the swordfish was requested med & it came basically just seared on the outside & raw inside. The fish was sent back to be cooked all the way!! The pulled pork was good. The French fries are good; the skinny kind & very crispy.
Dessert was the chocolate donut cake w/vanilla ice cream which was very good!!
Enjoyed sitting outside. Food was good too!
We had reservations. Sat down an ordered and waited 45 minutes for our food. Notice three tables seated after us served before us. This location has a long way to meet the service standards as the original San Diego location. It feels this location is the GREAT MAPLE only in name. It appears its run by owners focused on appearances and not on substance.
Food was fantastic and worth the price. Service was excellent and attentive.
The food was great but they need to pay more attention on cleaning. Our chair is dirty, tea cup is dirty and the plate is sticky.
excellent & unique food with a vibrant atmosphere and superior service
