My husband and I were on a movie and dinner date. I had heard about this place and have wanted to try it.
First, waiter was hard to understand, not helpful, attentive or friendly and was so slow.
Service was really slow. Food was mediocre. Prices were high for quality of the food.
I'm sorry I tried something new and spent a lot of money on a disappointing experience.
Definitely will not be returning.
The food was, as always, very good. However on this visit the service was terrible. The appetizer, salad, and entree were delivered almost simultaneously. This is unacceptable at a restaurant of this quality and price point. The server did offer to put the entrees under a heat lamp until we wanted them, but why would anyone take this option. The waiter also initially forgot the dessert and brought the bill instead.
Great early dinner on the patio. Perfect weather for outside. Not noisy due to being on their great patio & an early mid-week meal.
The Portobello Mushroom fries are superb. The menu seems slimmed down from the past ones. Salmon, turkey bolognese were good. Nice spot for after work.
Now serving brunch 7 days/week- good news!
Staff was friendly and accommodated our request to share a meal. The salmon was delicious. I didn't think I was a fan of ancient grains, but they were very tasty.
Turned out the Great Maple was not Great. Nice happy hour menu but the regular entries were uninspired.
The service was disinterested, did not come by often enough to refill drinks, etc. The pasta was over cooked, the market Fish at $27 was small, over cooked and served with a slab of broccoli. Too many other restaurants to try in Pasadena so no need to come back soon.
Awesome, creative, most interesting "Cobb Wedge" I have ever had, Wedge of Romaine topped with Blue Cheese, Avocado, Pulled Smoked Chicken, Maple Bacon, Tomatoes and an awesome Blue Cheese Vinaigrette. Highly recommended.
Pork ribs were yummy and messy. They do not provide wipes, but our server obligingly brought us damoened napkins to clean off fingertips. The food was great, the service was spot-on. Cheery and fun
Really great food and nice staff. Their dessert is also wonderful by itself! Alcohol list is varied and has a nice selection.
Always a great place to entertain, enjoy a nice meal and drink.
Food and service was very slow.
Too loud and noisy. Waitstaff overwhelmed on a Sunday. Was promptly seated however. Good but would think twice about entering such chaos. No one knew what the other was doing.
We had a problem getting one of our meals correct but the gentleman and female staff were very apologetic and discussed in detail what happened. They were we’re sorry and continued to ask his they could fix the problem which they did and provided that meal complimentary! Because of their professionalism and courteousness we’ll be back.
Great Happy Hour. Amazing service at the bar.
Fun new restaurant in Pasadena. Has a covered outdoor patio that is not quite as noisy as the inside. Food was good, the service was a bit slow but they were very busy. Would likely try it again.
Would recommend the Beignets but not the breakfast chilaquiles.
Our server was very good.
Had a great patio table.
Also nice to see it's pet friendly in the patio!
Beautiful restaurant! I recommend sitting outside! The service was good, nothing amazing but still good. Food tasted AMAZING!!! their donuts are so good!!
I was looking forward to our dinner at the Great Maple. Unfortunately, the meal and service fell way short of our expectations. The service was incredibly slow, our server didn't even bother to introduce himself. 4 of our group received their meals, the 5th had to wait more than 5 minutes for his meal. It was a birthday, no mention or acknowledgement. We were kept waiting for refills on drinks or for the 2 coffees ordered, one was brought then the other 5 minutes later, plates weren't removed from the table, we had to pile them in the middle of the table so we could eat our entrees. The food was undercooked, the prime rib was chewy it was so rare.
Atmosphere was great. Food and service were mediocre.
Service was excellent. Not a big variety of food. Second time but sorry to say our last.
I arrived 15 min early and they have no chairs for you to sit and wait. We were finally seated and the restaurant was very warm. Service was poor. The hostess didn't even acknowledge us when we arrived. The server came after we called him to take our order. We had to call him over to refill our ice tea. I had the prime rib dip sandwich. It was tasteless. The most annoying part of our lunch were the flies inside the restaurant that we had to keep swatting away. I had to literally keep the flies away with my right hand as I was trying to eat withmy left hand. It was disgusting. I'm never going back!
Tasty brunch menu, mimosas are delicious and the atmosphere is very classy and modern
Our waiter was super friendly, however, the dining experience was super slow. Not sure why, because the restaurant was not packed. Food selection was small. The decor is beautiful but the restaurant had a smell that I could not pinpoint (must be their choice of cleaning products or bleach?) The restrooms was messy, trash on the floor. Food was meh, will not be back.
The thing that stuck out to me right away was there is no lobby or even chairs to sit in while you wait for an open door able,
Loved loved loved the vibe & atmosphere of this place. Excellent food, outstanding service, great location in Pasadena on Colorado.....it’s next to everything......bars, movies, shopping,...etc. Celebrated my MIL’s birthday with family. We went for brunch. We loved everything we ordered. Love the Newport (Fashion Island) location as well!!
Just a lovely evening.
We had a very nice lunch. Food was great and service excellent.
The inside dining area was extremely loud, but the patio was truly perfect.
Loved dinning here! The food took a little long to come out but I understand since it was a holiday. Thanks so much! Will be back again very soon.
The kids were all away so for this rare opportunity during our week of birthdays we decided we’d try this new restaurant. For a new restaurant it lacked ambiance and any wow factor—it looked quite bland and could easily look dated. We made reservations online thru open table and got seated right away. Our server didn’t come for a few minutes and we were boggled that the menu we got was for brunch. We ordered steak and salmon from their easy to read one page menu. Taste was ok not quite as good as we would expect for the high end pricing. Presentation was lacking as well and taste was nominal. No sauces for steak and no alternatives were offered. Service was ok and we were checked occasionally by folks who were generally had long faces and didn’t seem happy to be there. My wife and I both said to each other that there’s no need to return or bring our amateur foodie sons to try as they would surely be disappointed as we were.
I’ve always had great service and had a great experience here until September 1, 2018. We came for brunch and as usual the place was crowded. We were seated fairly quickly because I had placed a reservation. From there everything went downhill. It took approximately 7-10 minutes to get waited on. The server brought water and by then we knew what we were ordering, so we placed our order with him. We had a child in our party and had asked for chocolate milk but were brought regular milk. We informed the waiter who brought back milk with extremely too much chocolate powder, it was clumped in the milk. The child just drank water instead the whole time. We did inform the waiter and manager of the milk. It had now been 40 minutes since arriving and still no food on our table. One of the hostesses came to me and said they were out of an ingredient for my dish and suggested a substitute for my dish. I went on her recommendation but the entire dish was different than she had mentioned. The dish was not good at all. I had ordered Traditional egg Benedict, they put bacon instead of ham and the bread was I don’t even know. It was stale and just gross. It actually took 47 minutes to get our meal. We were already finishing our entrees and had also ordered French toast logs which were not brought out with our meal. We had to remind the waiter and then had to wait an additional 14 minutes for that order. We were actually enjoying the French toast logs when I looked up and saw a nicely dressed, thin Caucasian man with a beard, perhaps the manager, whistling at a different waiter, pointed toward our table and motioned his thumb as if to get our table cleared. The unknown waiter quickly walked over to us and asked if we were done. It was REALLY rude and truly unprofessional of that thin Caucasian man to do that in front of customers. We then felt really rushed when it wasn’t even our fault to have been in there so long waiting on our food. Terrible experience.
Our food was very good — fried chicken and donuts were a surprisingly tasty combo albeit heart stoppers. The chicken bowl with ancient grains was very good and the accompanying cauliflower hummus was great. Unfortunately, the service was okay at best. Fortunately we weren't in a hurry but my chicken bowl entree came out at least 10 minutes after my friend’s fried chicken and we had to do arm waving to attract the server to our table for drink refills and the check. To add insult to injury, they erroneously told open table that we hadn’t shown up for our reservation. Would still recommend because it is convenient and the food is good but bring your patience.
The beer and wine lists were decent. Food was pretty good but not mind blowing. All in all it’s a good casual place to go in town to catch up with friends before the movies!
The happy hour menu and drinks were great. I wish it lasted until 7 instead of 630, but hey it's Pasadena. The chicken and donuts my friend ordered were tasty. I had deviled eggs and the calamari appetizer. Also yummy. The portions were plentiful with enough to take home for a little late night snack 😁
Our server was just terrible..... didn’t check up on us, didn’t advise us when he was leaving and that we would have a new server. Had to ask the host for our check because we literally just got abandoned.
Fix your customer service, very rude and not accommodating.
The food is good but we just had a bad experience at a recent Sunday brunch. My wife found live bug in her berries. The server removed her plate and had her order redone. However, there wasn't much of an apology and other places we've been to have comped the dish and even the entire meal. Just a disappointing experience.
Maple bacon doughnuts!!! And the ribs were good, too.
Just love this place! Will be coming again. Great donuts! And happy hour!
Was seated after a 5-10 minute wait despite having a reservation on a busy night. Server was personable and assisted with menu selections. Food was good and plentiful. Chef sent complimentary fried mushroom appetizer. Unfortunately main dishes were presented about 10 minutes afterwards (we also had salads), roo soon after salad and starter.
Maple bacon donuts were very tasty.
Unfortunately this restaurant has not given open table points and for 2 days has not answered the phone. Messages left without being returned is a terrible business practice for an otherwise good restaurant. Very bad form.
Bacon Maple Doughnuts!!! Need I say more? Ok, the Spicy fried chicken sandwich was great, as was the Chicken grain bowl. Just save room foe dessert!
