Great Maple - Pasadena Ratings and Reviews
Great Maple lived up to its name. We went for brunch with friends and loved it. Our reservation was handled quickly and professionally. Our waiter was fun and informed, guiding us well.
The food? What can you say about maple-bacon donuts but more, except that their so big that three or four people can easily split an order of 3. The breakfasts were great; I had the chiliquales and they were very authentic with just the right amount of spice. A lot of people around us were having huge burgers, a great looking chopped salad and fried chicken with maple-bacon donuts. We’ll definitely be going back.
Very disappointing. Very very loud. Food (fingerling potatoes) had strong unusual flavor. Told the manager. He coukd have cared less. Told the waiter. He said, “people love it or hate it”. Salad had way too much dressing. Very embarrassed to bring a friend here.
Great Maple is a new restaurant at the Paseo outdoor mall. Build out of the space is nice - they definitely spent a lot of money on the restaurant itself. This place is popular, so suggest you make reservations (esp. on Friday evenings or weekends).
Food and service are both pretty good. The happy hour menu is a great value.
Only quibble is that they sometimes are not staffed to handle demand. We've gone a few times where the restaurant is 1/3 empty (the space is HUGE) and there was a 30+ minute wait. Suspect that was due to lack of waiters.
This was the first time we tried this restaurant. The location within Paseo wasn't apparent so we spent some time walking around trying to find it. The staff is young and somewhat inexperienced, but very friendly and ended up doing their jobs well. The best thing is the food. Everything we had was excellent; very tasty. The atmosphere is a bit busy and noisy, but not too bad. I recommend that everyone try this restaurant.
Everything was good, especially the quality of the food. Only downside was the noise level being too high. The distance between the tables is too tight so you can clearly hear the conversations from the near by table. On this occasion, there was very loud people on the next table, so it was quite bothersome. But the food was amazing. Thank you
Food was OK. I had the two eggs, which came with fruit and toast. The fruit was fresh. The eggs were, well, what can you do with scrambled eggs? The coffee was lukewarm, and $4.00, which seems a bit steep. Ambiance was fun (we sat on the patio). If I lived in this section of town i might return, as there seems to be a bit of a dearth of full-service breakfast places. But no way would I go out of my way to come here.
2nd time at The Great Maple. Outstanding food. We had The Portobello Mushroom fries, Cobb Salad, Deviled Eggs, The Hummus, Bacon Mac n Cheese, Parmeson Truffle Fries,Turkey Bolognese, Brick Chicken, The Steak Frites, Salmon. For dessert the Beignets with Lemon curd. The beignets were perfect. Such outstanding quality and taste. The atmosphere and design of the restaurant is beautiful and unique. Above all the service from the staff is second to none. We will come back Again and Again and Again. A+
We have eaten at the Great Maple in San Diego and this site keeps the tradition of great food intact. We had the fried chicken/maple bacon donuts combo and both were excellent. The service was attentive but not rushed. Looking forward to our next visit to Pasadena so we can eat here again.
There was only one server in a very large section of the restaurant. It took us 1.75 hours to get a quick dinner. I think she was overwhelmed and everything was taking much longer than it should. Also, certain things were wrong on the food order when it came out. Some food was also cold.
Been to Great Maple twice now and both times have been excellent. Cool atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. It’s right in the Paseo so perfect before or after a movie. Lots of bacon and maple flavored food/drinks and donut desserts to top off the great main courses they have. Will definitely be back again.
Great food and service. We had a baby with us and all the staff came up to us and doted on her. Made us feel really welcome! I wish they didn’t have a tasting menu for their NYE dinner though. Or at least have their tasting menu optional. I’ll need to go back for sure when I can order off their regular menu.
The menu is mouth watering...I wanted to order everything, but unfortunately, the descriptions of the food items are better than the actual food themselves. The deviled eggs were rubbery. The beignets were very disappointing...like heavy yeast bread, not doughnuts, with caked on powdered sugar. Oh well. But happy hour prices aren’t bad!
We had to choose one restaurant in this plentiful town... and we picked this one. Sat outside where the noise level was comfortable (as opposed to a loud dining area inside) and loved the food. We had brick chicken and salmon, which included greens and cauliflower hash... truly divine. We were impressed by the freshness, variety of the menu and very intentional tastes, preparation and presentation. Two thumbs up!
Had been looking forward to trying Great Maple, was very pleased with our entire evening!
How bad can a place that serves maple bacon doughnuts be? They did not disappoint. We were greeted and given options to seat either indoors or out, we choose outside under heaters(it was in the low 50’s) and were very comfortable as it was not as loud and easier to have a conversation!
We were seated and got menus with explanations right away. We ordered craft cocktails that were well prepared and looked over the menu for dinner. Everything was as expected and served promptly and it was delicious! Last but not least a warm bacon maple doughnut for dessert!! Will be back again!
