We had reservations. Sat down an ordered and waited 45 minutes for our food. Notice three tables seated after us served before us. This location has a long way to meet the service standards as the original San Diego location. It feels this location is the GREAT MAPLE only in name. It appears its run by owners focused on appearances and not on substance.
Food was fantastic and worth the price. Service was excellent and attentive.
The food was great but they need to pay more attention on cleaning. Our chair is dirty, tea cup is dirty and the plate is sticky.
excellent & unique food with a vibrant atmosphere and superior service
We went here for breakfast for Father's day. Really well made food, generous portions, attentive service in aninviting rustic chic atmosphere. Prices are more than fair for the quality of food and service. My only gripe (and this is a matter of preference) is that the fried chicken and doughnuts dish was too heavy on the sweet side. The doughnut was already glazed, and then the whole dish, chicken included, was heavily drizzled with an additional maple glaze, and then it was served with maple syrup. Still want to come back to try other dishes.
The Great Maple is one very large open concept space and could have been noisy. We asked for a quiet place due to hearing issues, and they gave us the perfect spot. We loved the menu. The appetizers were unique and tasty. Our vegetarian friends loved the veggie dishes. Cooked perfectly. My ribs were excellent. I am still craving their pear cocktail. Service was A+. We highly recommend, especially if you are at the convention center.
Our server Conny was amazing
We had breakfast on Saturday and we were there watching the chalk walk. Alien Con was shappening as well. Great outdoor patio and fun people watching. Very relaxing. Coffe was very good. Had the bacon scramble and it was very filling.
Girlfriend lunch - we each had the open face Maine Lobster sandwich - deliciously rich and decadent! The glass of rose was superb. Great service!
Working lunch for six at Great Maple. Room and service were great. Good food a reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
Loved the prime rib sandwich. Blood orange margarita was also good
Definitely have to order the bacon maple donut, it is so good. Never thought it would go together, but they do it perfectly!
I love the location -- great place to go before or after the movies at ArcLight. Even though I'm on a 28-day cleanse I was able to find things on the menu that would work for me. We had the Charred Cauliflower Hummus as an appetizer which came with pita bread and fresh veg (I could have the hummus and vegs) and I had the Brick Chicken. All were delicious and the service was great.
As is usually the issue with dining here on the weekends, it is very noisy inside. The acoustics cause it to be almost impossible to hear even the person sitting next to you. It is also very busy and takes a long time to get served your food on the weekends. During the week it is generally much quieter and service is better. On this occasion it was for brunch, which there was a good selection of varied items to choose from, all of which appeared to be very good. However, children here seem to get annoyed with the noise, and quickly become frustrated, and lose their patience. Therefore it is not the best place to bring children, as the tables are close together and one unhappy child can make it unhappy for everyone.
The food was great but we didn’t have great service. It took forever to get anything or anyone to play attention to us. The food was great but it is also very loud so it is hard to enjoy company when finish here. My favorite dish that we had was the Cobb salad so I will get that again next time.
Tried out this place recently for brunch. The brunch selection is great and the portions are good value for money. We tried out the benedict, chilaquiles, the avocado scramble and the beignets. All of them were well made and delicious with substantial portions especially the chilaquiles. We also tried the bottle of rose for the rose day special and were provided a watermelon flavored rose that was very refreshing. The service was great and the food came out quite promptly. would highly recommend this spot for brunch.
The French toast logs keep us coming back every time!!!
Awesome and just super good.
enjoyed the space and the food...Sarah is a great server
Delicious brunch options! We will be back! Service was a little slow when it came time to get/pay invoice. Otherwise, everything was awesome.
we love the patio. food is delicious
only bad thing was that the coffee was cold!
(even when i told the waiter next cup was cold so i gave up)
Service was Amazing and the food was very tasty. The only complaint I had was the cauliflower hummus...WHICH IS BOMB. Must have been super salty because it but my girlfriend and and I in a sodium comma....and we did try it the day after to make sure and yeah....but it is totally tasty. Loved our server. patio has great people watching
We chose this restaurant for a graduation brunch. It did not disappoint! The menu had options for everyone in our party from Vegans to kids. The service was attentive and our server warm and friendly!
Very inattentive waitress. This was our first poor experience. We have had excellent service all other occasions.
We have a small group of woman suddenly in our 50's having celebrated each other's birthdays for years~ this was a very special find, with a generous variety of choices with interesting twists on classic ideas on their menu, attentive (somewhat green service*) willing to accommodate all our needs. Delicious food, exceptional presentation, great atmosphere.
* This is cafe service -but could be really special given small tips ie. Serve cocktail napkins under drinks served on non cloth tables, offer share plates with a shared appetizer, bring the check promptly after clearing the guests last course. If someone's entree is taking a bit more time check back with the guest. Quality service is not lacking per se but definitely needs to be honed at this restaurant.
After reading some of the reviews, I was skeptical on whether to go or not. I took a chance and glad I did. The food was amazing. The side salad was delicious, but I will return again and again for the bacon donuts and beignets. Both were shockingly incredible.
Food was excellent. I am obsessed with the portobello mushroom fries. Will be back again!
Overall we enjoyed Great Maple. The ambiance is very clean and modern with a somewhat ole timely feel. The menu isn’t overly large but has a nice selection from salads to starters to entrees. The service however was subpar. Could have just been who we had, however I never feel that that’s an excuse. She was somewhat attentive but could have been a bit friendlier considering it wasn’t busy at all. She had no recommendations, seeing as how this was our first time there. Everything on the menu was “good” or “people seem to like that”. For the location and with so many other restaurants to choose from, customer service should always be on point.
The food was okay. Not great and not horrible. I would try it again and explore different options on the menu hoping for a different result. It’s a fun place with some interesting and fun items on the menu. If you are looking for something different with a modern atmosphere, give it a shot. I hear “people like” the fried chicken and maple donuts.
Interating menu choices, food was very good, but the service was mediocre at best. Pleasant staff, but not as attentive as they could have been, and the food took forever to arrive.
We went on Mother's Day. Probably a mistake. I have enjoyed the restaurant at other times but on Mother's Day our first waiter was not familiar with the menu and took forever to bring drinks and take an order. The restaurant was VERY noisy and the meat was over cooked. Not very impressive.
We went for Mother’s Day brunch and had a great time
We tried GM for Mother’s Day and so glad we did. Our server was awesome! He had tables inside and out on the patio....no easy feat! He was attentive and had a great personality. I high,y recommend the chicken and donuts!!! To die for....
Great brick chicken
And don’t forget those donuts
Despite numerous confirmation of reservation, our table wasn’t ready. Once seated it was clear table wouldn’t comfortably accommodate 10. We had to wait again for a new table.
Service was very slow and noise level was high.
Plates were marginal at best.
We went for Pasadena’s restaurant week menu. Nothing was really discounted. We ended up ordering a la crate it was cheaper. My brick chicken was ok, nothing great, I’ve had better at chain restaurants. Dessert was yummy, so maybe I’d hit up this place for dessert. My fiancé did enjoy his turkey pasta and his tomato soup. We would come here again, but probably just for dessert.
This was most than we could have expeted. From Johna our servicer, to the delious food. We will be back soon. 5+ stars.
Very disappointing. Ten minutes after ordering drinks another wait person informed us they did not have the premium vodka we requested. We changed our order to a brand they had. Two of the four of us had already been served their drinks. After another 10+ minutes our drinks were delivered. However both had been ordered “up” and one was served rocks. It was taken back to correct. Big mistake. It took another 15-20 minutes for that drink to arrive.
The service was ragged and uneven. Main course was served one at a time with several minutes between. Food was good, but not outstanding.
Will not be rushing back anytime soon.
The ambiance was really nice, service was really good and the food was amazing!
Our server, "Jimmy" was great! - attentive, friendly, answered all of our questions about the menu. He even took photos of us for the birthday girl. My only negative comment is that it was so loud, I could hardly hear what people were saying. Everyone seemed to be yelling to be heard.
