Hostess “Candi” is great fun! She, and the whole experience at GM, is why we keep going back. Great food too!
Service was great, nice, friendly and professional, great energy, but the food was not spectacular. But this is not their line cook’s fault. Liked the plating but overall, the food could’ve been so much better as it is described on the menus. So much flavors, components and textures without coherence, I can see what they are trying to do. I personally think the food is the only downside, everything else is good.
French toast may be the best ever..brisket hash was also amazing
way over priced for what you get. The Latte's were small and $6.50 per glass...yes, they were served in a small water glass and burned your hands when you picked it up.
my mom and I split the lolli waffles...they were 3 small waffles on a stick with 3 dipping sauces...we paid additional for 2 over medium eggs (that were way underdone) and asked for the bacon crisp and it was not. The food took probably close to 30 mins to come out after ordering, and the waffle sticks were room temp and a little soggy by the time they came out. The meal was around $18 or $19 dollars, and it was not even worth half that. Ive been to the north park location and loved it, but the prices at UTC are ridiculous for mediocre food. There were also several flies buzzing around our table they entire time we were eating which is unappetizing.
Arrived on time for lunch with a reservation and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. We had requested outside dining but were seated indoors. Then another 40 minutes until our food arrived. Food was very good, however! Noise level was so high it was difficult to have a conversation. If I try this restaurant again, I'll try going on a weekday.
We were seated in front of the main doorway. We declined the table, asked to get seated elsewhere and decided to leave after waiting over 30 min past our reservation for a table. Unorganized staff, overcrowded and even with a reservation be prepared to wait!!
We had a FANTASTIC time. Every single staff member was polite, happy to be there, and made us feel welcome. The food was phenomenal from starters to dessert.
It was fabulous! Waitress super nice and professional
The decor, service and food was outstanding. The donuts and fried chicken is what we came for. All of the dishes were excellent. Very large portions.
I liked the location because you can park close in the parking garage without going through the mall.
This place is just so fun and yummy! Definitely try the maple bacon donuts and the beignets! They are BOMB! We also shared the chorizo scramble and the chilaquiles! I really wanted to try the French toast logs but we had already ordered the other sweet dishes. Other people near us got them and they said they were yummy too!
Very attentive wait staff; especially Colton. Food was wonderful. Regretfully couldn’t dine indoors because it was so loud; And outdoors had some traffic noise (which is obviously expected). But we’ll come back again.
Rude hostesses; limited menu. Waited 30 minutes after reservation time.
Amazing food. Great service. Drop what you are doing and go. The salted caramel bacon is a must!
It took longer than expected to get drinks on a not terribly busy Sunday morning and I probably would had ordered two mimosas in the time it took to just receive the one but decided against that due to wait. My wife had her heart set on a meal that she absolutely loved from the Hillcrest restaurant but had turned out wrong twice at this location in La Jolla and so ultimately she gave up and had bites of mine and our daughter’s meals; disappointing to say the least. Overall, although the La Jolla looks prettier and higher class, I definitely like the Hillcrest location much more from the general feel of the welcoming environment and level of service there.
We always love eating at the Great Maple. Atmosphere, staff and food is consistently on point! Cheers, The Blakes
I went in over the weekend with my sister and grandmother for their birthday's and the waitress was super nice but she had forgotten to put our order in so we waited for over an hour for our food to arrive. She did comp our appetizer but I felt like the experience was poor and more should have been comped especially on a $200 tab. Also, on our reservation I added a note that it was for a bday and that wasn't acknowledged. Which isn't a huge deal, I'm not asking for free dessert but better service would have been nice.
Today's visit was terribly disappointing. Both the server and kitchen underperformed to create a lackluster lunch experience. The waiter was almost nonexistent with no personality. Our food was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The portobello fries were over cooked/over fried/burnt, the French Bistro salad was drowning in vinaigrette, and the au jus for the French dip sandwich was shockingly salty. Wow.
The place is a little pricey for us. Lunch for 4 with one entree a split was $124.00. Theresa's service was great. Two beers were flat and she did take one of them away and husband ordered a tequila sunrise. Hamburger was ordered medium but pretty pink, although it was still tasty. Thought some of the specialty drinks were quite expensive. Best to just order simple drinks, much better value. The place was packed so people are enjoying those wonderful donuts and bacon and syrup; just think we'll try something else next time.
I ordered the bacon maple ranch donuts (3) Very fresh . Delicious
Two egg breakfast , chicken sausage ( amazing ) and potatoes . Everything else was cold
Two of a pear martini & expresso . Perfect
My friend ordered the pigs in a blanket he seemed to love it & his potatoes were piping hot it was like the timing of our meals were off . Nice place , food wasn’t bad at all .
The entries we had were delicious with large portions. The beignets were not as good as the Hillcrest location; they seemed a little overcooked and not as light. We had reservations but still waited about 20 minutes to be seated. I recommend this place and will return. The food and drinks overall were really good, and the ambiance is nice and pleasant for groups or couples.
We came in for dinner, and realized that this is not necessarily a dinner venue, but they still had some good menu options it seemed. I had the prime rib which was great, my wife had a chicken protein bowl and the chicken was a little dry. Service was good. Ambience was casual but nice. We would probably come back for breakfast or brunch at some point.
Had a great experience here and our waiter was outstanding his name is JC, and our food was delicious. I would highly recommend this place on a Friday night if you like Prime rib.
It was hot in the patio.
The food was only ok
Sadly, I expected more. It wasn't a memorable experience.
The reason for the lower score is because of the amount of heat in the restaurant. My friend and I both wore sundresses, yet sweat through the whole meal. It was not the best ambience to be in. Turning on the fans earlier would have been really, really helpful.
A $6.5 latte with no latte art whatsoever was a bit disappointing. The plating for the French toast logs was weird: the gigantic portion drove my appetite away and the big flat plate with syrup all over it was not appealing either.
Modern take on diner classics. Big portions, decadent options. Open, airy dining with lots of airflow make the space feel very safe. Crayons and coloring sheets for kids kept them happy.
Our experience at The Great Maple we very good- overall the food was great and food items came out timely. I know everyone is struggling with staff at this time so I understand that the server was busy. Would come back to try more of their food items.
It was good. A little expensive. Our server was great!
Brought my friend from out of town here. The vibe was great here and the food was delish. The Hillcrest location used to have breakfast pot pie but it wasn’t on the menu here so my husband was a little sad. Everything was awesome
Everything was phenomenal. Candy the hostess was wonderful
Thank you for a great time.
The food and drinks were delicious! It is a great place to go at the mall.
Everything was wonderful.
Excellent food and service. The wait is worth it. Get a reservation - get the popover. The lemon curd is delicious.
Your location is hard to find at UTC
Great Birthday brunch
GREAT FOOD! GREAT SERVICE!!! It was easy to get in on a busy weekend and we wondered why because everything was perfect. This is the French Laundry of mall food.
Great place for brunch. Food is delicious! And service is fast.
Great food. Awesome service. Will go back again.
