For a first timer, the location was a little hard to find since its right on Gensee and not really in UTC. The open concept of one open room for a restaurant is and will be noisy but that part of the ambiance. Our food selection were great tasting. The server was always coming by. The prices were standard. Great!
We celebrated Father’s Day and our aunt’s 75th birthday. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was wonderful.
$2 extra for 3 tomato slices on my avocado toast? Would have been nice for waiter to disclose that while ordering. Or perhaps taken that charge off since we had to wait for an hour for our food.
Food: Large and delicious portions
Location: was tricky to find at UTC
Outdoor seating: You might end up seating next to the parking lot.
Service: With a reservation, we still had to wait for our table. We waited a long time for our beverages, then ordered our food and had to wait even longer. We sat for a long time before we could even ask for water.
Overall, food and service were disappointing. Expected a much better experience on Father’s Day. They ran out of utensils & napkins, and didn’t receive them until after the food was served. Server wasn’t very attentive.
Eating outside is very noisy since it’s on the side of the street. Also, the umbrella is too big to push past the outdoor booths so the sun was very hot. The food is delicious and fresh. The maple covered donuts with bacon on top is out of this world!
Made reservations about a month ago assuming Fathers Day would be busy. Was pleased to be seated right away. We liked how it was kid friendly.
Our server quickly approached us took our drink orders and later food. However, we didn’t see her after that. She dropped are food and asked if we needed anything. Asked for ketchup, she said ok… she never came back. By that time everyone was already done with their food. And she finally came with the ketchup.
Then we waited again… she was clearly taking orders and assisting with the other tables around us. By this time, all we wanted was our check. This took a very long time. I ended up asking a different team member which she helped flag down our server.
She finally made it around dropped my check but then took another 16-20 min to pick it up. When’s she did she then a took a long time to process my card. I had my family go to the mall while I wait. At this point i felt like I was being ignored.
I wasn’t happy with my experience here at all. This was our first time and I was hoping the hype was real about this restaurant.
Came for Father’s Day and having a reservation was so helpful! I think the walk in wait was close to an hour. Staff was friendly and food was really good. The lolliwaffles are a great shareable appetizer!
Excellent food and Tracy was a phenomenal server. She was very attentive and friendly it was great for Father’s Day brunch. They were willing to accommodate a larger group and it was very kid friendly.
We can early for Father's Day-our first outing since covid began. We enjoyed the food and the service very much. Portions are large and the food is good quality. It's a nice place fora special occasion. Staff was friendly and attentive without being too eager. Enjoyed it!
First time for dinner. Great fish and chips. Attentive service. Comfortable seating. Location has challenges with parking but not a deal breaker.
The service is top-notch! The food is great but boy have prices gone up in the last few months! Prepare your wallet. I love the style and ambience inside. I had the Lemon and Lavender mimosa. So refreshing!
Reservation was for indoors but they seated us on the street in the sun. We told the waiter we had a sun allergy and they responded “sorry bout that” and didnt try to accommodate us. Food was extremely overpriced and mediocre. Would not come here again.
Their maple donuts and coffee are enough reason to return. We enjoyed our trip, and the service was great and fast. It got a little loud as the morning picked up but was still enjoyable.
The waiter did not believe me when I told them there was alcohol in my virgin bloody Mary. The food was average at best. Location was in a inconvenient location, you have to leave the mall, go the lower lever parking lot and walk around the dumpster area to the street for the entrance.
Business lunch so short on time and it took 30 minutes for our salads to come out. Very disappointed
Our server Juan was superb!!!!! He was very attentive and on point!
To start I told the waitress when seated that it was my daughter’s birthday. When the food came out 2 of the orders were wrong, so they had to be remade. Also 2 of the other orders that had pouched eggs were ice cold like out of the refrigerator, so they brought new eggs, those were also ice cold. Out of the 2 orders that needed to be remade 1 of them did not make it out until everyone else was already done eating. To top it off, no mention of my daughter’s birthday at the end! At that point I didn’t even want to bother bringing it up. All around not a good experience. We have been to great maple in hillcrest and love it.
Very good food and quick service, was a nice weekend brunch option!
Food was very good...eclectic casual menu. Good service too.
Everything was great except that I have gotten the brisket popovers before, and this time, the brisket was very overcooked and tough; however, everything else was great.
We were seated outdoor by the parking deck so we were surrounded by cement walls and it was noisy with all the cars driving in and out. Definitely not the atmosphere I was expecting for Great Maple. Food of course was good but pricey for what you get. Service was great!
Grand as always
A bit disappointing given all the hype. Super busy and likely understaffed given the pandemic so take that into inconsideration when you go. The menu descriptions were amazing but didn’t match what came out. The “carmelized pineapple mimosa” was a warm glass of OJ and pineapple juice with a regular slice of pineapple. The popover was doughy and rubbery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp forever or was just old. Chicken bowl was pretty good. Deep fried squash blossom was the star but certainly not enough to bring us back for another lackluster brunch at a sticky table
The foods were awesome. We got the french toast logs, fried chicken with maple bacon donuts, and the burger. All were fantastic. The restaurant was obviously short on staff. So it took a while for us to get serviced after sitting down.
Is not my kind of restaurant. Very unhealthy options. I am not there target audience.
My family and I came to visit San Diego and we were looking for a yummy breakfast spot! Great Maple was definitely worth it and am glad we found it! We recommend!
Uno de mis hijos eligió el lugar pues fue su promoción y fue el lugar indicado, la comida deliciosa, la presentación y las porciones muy bien, súper calidad y el servicio el mejor, de nuestros lugares favoritos para celebrar ocasiones especiales.
Good was delicious. Huge portions. Service was very good and servers were very friendly.
Just a bit confusing for people to find the entrance to the restaurant.
I was frustrated with the wait. We had a reservation at 2. We checked in at 1:55. I checked back at the desk at 2:15 and another person told me we were never checked in. We then waited another 10 minutes. They sat the 5 of us at a small 4 top. But after that the food and service was good.
We were able to get a table outside along the sidewalk on the outside of the mall. So, it was a little noisy, but also provided good people watching. Food was great, as usual. Large portions. My friends and I hadn’t seen each other in over a year, so it was nice that the waitress didn’t rush us out. She also brought a little treat for the birthday girl.
Overall it was very great!! The service, food and wait time were all fantastic. Definitely recommend making a reservation before you go to avoid any wait time.
Everything was great except the plate we got was sooo tiny ! Don’t recommend the chorizo hash, it also comes with only one piece of bread and a super small portion of eggs it looks like one egg only and it was almost 20 dollars for the plate. I do like doughnuts they are so good !
Food is very good. The maple bacon doughnuts are a must have. We had our young son and the waiter Hidalgo was very patient letting my son order his own food. Excellent experience will return soon
Great food. Hard to find!
The only issue was how long it took a server over 25 minutes to take the order and even stop by and drop off waters. Otherwise, food was great as always, restaurant was clean with good spacing between our table and others. Decor is very different than their Hillcrest location but fits really well in the neighborhood. I really love the maple bacon donuts and fried chicken.
We had the blueberry silver dollar pancakes and French toast logs. They are stingy with the blueberries and the prices are high in comparison to other breakfast places. The French toast logs are good but more like a spongey cake than bread. Our server seemed new and was not very attentive and had difficulty remembering. Another waitress in the area did our refills the entire time we were there and handled our check, so at least they worked as a team to keep service going. Overall, it was a blah experience and the check is over $100 for 4 people. Probably will not be back. Oh, and they no longer offer the wonderful biscuits I had on my first visit over a year ago.
My sister and I dined here and it disappointed us. My waffles were cold and her chorizo scramble was mediocre and definitely not worth the amount we paid. We also felt rushed by our server even though it was 1pm and not busy at all. We also both work in the hospitality industry and was blown away by the lack of care we received.
Fun and tasty food, bit pricey.
