Grazie Italiano Ratings and Reviews
I don't go to a relatively expensive Italian restaurant expecting mediocre food and obnoxious, loud crowds and music. I knew that it was a football weekend and expected it to be busy, but the atmosphere and food were more like a pub than a place to have a celebration dinner. If that's what they're going for, fine - put a burger on the menu. If not, they need to up their game. Food and service definitely not worth the prices.
We were in town to see a play and decided to try this restaurant. I ordered the shrimp pasta along with my mother-in-law. My grandmother ordered the lasagna. The pasta was not great. The shrimp appeared to be pre-frozen and unthawed. They were also over-cooked. The pasta also had too many peppers. I was expecting more, especially since it was 32 bucks. It did not taste authentic at all. The lasagna was decent. We wanted a good meal, but might have been better off with bar food that night... unfortunately.
Place was fairly busy. We were in on a Saturday night so that's to be expected. Our server seemed like it was one of her first days. The real problem with the experience was that everything took FOREVER. There was only four of us in that night before the late show at the Comedy Attic. It took forever to be greeted, then forever to get our drinks. I had gray hair before we even got our food orders placed. We ended up being there for over 2 hours without even having time for dessert or coffee or anything because we had the show to get to and everything was SO SLOW. I reiterate because it truly was that bad. No management was circulating to check on the experience or to explain what the deal was. I'm sure they were trying not to have to give everything away for how terrible the service was. Well congratulations, I paid full price, but you won't ever be getting my money again.
We were very satisfied with our experience at Grazie Italiano. The food was good, excellent portions, and the service was perfect. We were under a time constraint and our server (Ali) was right on top of it. I would recommend Grazie Italiano and will request it for our next trip back to Bloomington
Went here with an out of town friend and my daughter and fiance. We had reservations and got seated immediately. Erin was our waitress and was very good throughout our visit. We each got different dishes and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The bread before the meal was very good with the dipping oil.
We went there for a birthday celebration! Made the reservation on Opentable for 10. None of us had ever been there before! Everyone was very friendly when we walked through the door. We have a son in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating to his needs. Sara, our server was AWESOME. The food was AWESOME. We brought our own birthday cake in & Sara got everything ready for us to celebrate! We had a great experience & can't wait to come back for another visit!
Wasn't greeted at the door and our reservation was never entered in Open Table and we were reported to not have made it there for the reservation. Food was good but service took forever. Took over almost 45 minutes to get our food. Very, very slow. Appetizers came out before the bread and wine. Very disorganized. Looked like a bunch of kids were running the place. Don't know that we'll be back anytime soon.
Located on the square in downtown Bloomington, it has a lot of large tables so it is great for those times that mom and dad come into town to take their kid out for "real food." it also has some quiet corners so it would be fun for a date night or other quiet conversation. The food was amazing. We had the bruschetta first -- nicely spicy. the garlic bread was decadent. I had the minestrone soup. Very good. Kids liked the pasta and the sauces were not overly done either spicy or heavy.
We had a reservation for Party of 8 at 8:30pm on September 15. We were sat at approximately 8:45pm. It took more than 20 minutes to simply get the bread and salad which were told wouldn't be given until after we ordered main courses. We finally ordered main courses and then waited..and waited.. and waited. At approximately 9:45pm we were told "a few more minutes". Finally, at 10:05pm we were told it would be another 15-20 minutes. Of course we decided to leave. My wife walked back in to discuss with the manager. That took another 10 minutes to track down a manager. He was not overly empathetic which upset my wife even more. He did end up giving us a $50 gift card. Overall, can't imagine going back to this restaurant.
Second time we have eaten here. Great place to come up with a group and like the new renovation. The food was not quite as good as the last time we were here but still on par for Bloomington. Staff is very friendly, but service was very backed up due to parents weekend. Some fine-tuning of getting drinks would help calm the inpatient nerves
Granted it was Parents Weekend at IU & extremely busy but service was over the top slow and when we finally got our food it wasn't warm. Our waitress was wonderful though (Erin) and the slowness wasn't her fault she was attentive and kept us updated on our meal status.
Had a nice time at Grazie Italiano. We had drinks, salad and an app. Our only issue after that was the entrees took a REALLY LONG time! As a result we were late for an event and unfortunately had to eat our food extremely fast once it arrived. The restaurant comped a few items on our bill which was nice. It was parents weekend and it was very crowded and apparently (as we found out too late) we may not have waited as long if we hadn't gotten the fish special:( I would go back but would make sure I had a good 2 hours to spare! PS the fish was great!
We came to Bloomington for family weekend, so had made reservations well in advance. Our waiter (Josh?) was very personable and knowledgeable . The food was outstanding; muscles and meatballs for apps, large salad for the table with fresh peppers and Parmesan cheese. They were very accommodating with gluten free options. The lemon-garlic scallop with fettuccine and shrimp in lobster crab sauce was delicious and generous portions. We also ordered the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. The ambience was a little plain, but we're more concerned with the food at a restaurant. We will definitely dine here again next time we come to visit!!
This was our first visit to Grazie and we loved it....we had not been back to IU in 25 years so it was so nice to see all the new restaurants and this one was recommended by the staff at our hotel. Our waiter was wonderful...very informative and helpful in planning our choices. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.
My wife loved her wild mushroom tortellini but my chicken fettucini alfredo with pesto wasn't very good. The chicken was almost grainy and the sauce was very oily. I don't know if it was overcooked or had just been setting awhile. The prices are high for the food that you get. Our service was ok but it took a really long time to get our meals (almost an hour).
As a side note, the men's restroom door opens up directly into the restaurant. It is uncomfortable when you are in there and can hear people talking.
The food was great as usual. I LOVE the arancini and the truffle chicken. Since my husband and I wanted different dressings, the waiter was kind enough to bring us separate salads. My daughter's kid pizza looked so appetizing that my husband couldn't resist eating a piece. My only complaint is that it was frigid cold. It was 90 degrees outside, but I was still shivering in a sweatshirt.
We met three couples at a place we have enjoyed in the past, sitting around a large round table in the back. It was too noisy to have "whole table" conversation, so we had several discussions simultaneously. We asked about several red wines and were graciously provided samples. After that, we ordered a more expensive red wine, and two different white wines, all which we greatly enjoyed. The bread was hot and tasty, and a large salad was served family style. When that wasn't enough for 8 people, the server brought another salad. Among the entrees we enjoyed were salmon, chicken Marsala, and chicken piccata. All these were well prepared. No one ordered pasta! We were all stuffed and didn't order dessert or coffee. Our server was quite helpful and took care of all our special requests very well. One couple had never been at this restaurant before but said they were planning to return with their son the next week, when he was visiting.
