Grazie Italiano Ratings and Reviews
I never write reviews, but we were so happy with our experience, I am happy to share. Went there before an IU game with my wife and two young kids. The server was great and food was excellent. They took great care of my son with food allergies. Since we were able to book a reservation on Opentable, it took all the stress out of making dinner plans before an IU basketball game. We were very, very happy with this restaurant experience.
I always enjoyed dining here in the past but had been awhile since we ate here. In past it had the feeling of a fine dining atmosphere but now lightening is very bright and it felt more like a fast food establishment. Unfortunately there was food on the floor right by our table. Service was below average. Ordered a bottle of wine that was featured on the table and when we ordered 2nd bottle was told they didn’t have any that were chilled. ???? I ask can you not put a bottle on ice. Reluctantly waitress agreed to do that. Food was delicious from appetizers, salad, soup, main course, it was just as I remembered it. This was a restaurant we relied on for special occasions or friends get together in the past, hoping it was just a off night for them but even so the atmosphere is not the same.
I've eaten a lot at Grazie during my son's college years. This was a dinner before a show meal. The waitress knew that we had a time schedule; I ordered the salmon; my son the chicken piccata with some specific withholds. Turns out someone else took his meal and we had to wait a bit longer. None of that would have been a problem except that when our meals arrived, his was very good and mine was stone cold. Apparently, no one thought about the effect the wait would have on my dinner. Unfortunately, we are in a rush and complaining - or requesting a "hot" meal took time we didn't have. The waitress was wonderful and I know that Grazie tries but somehow little things keep dropping through the cracks. Oh, well. The Concert (Straight No Chaser) was great and the evening a success.
I’ve been to Grazie several times and the food is consistently good, and sometimes even great. I’d stick with the pasta dishes as those are very good. One person in our party ordered a steak that was just mediocre and while we didn’t order a fish entree, the strong odor of fish was hard to miss (and not appetizing). Our biggest complaint would be that while the cocktails are very well done, they clearly don’t have enough bartenders to handle a Saturday night crowd. We ordered drinks, waited 10 minutes to order our meals and still didn’t have our first drinks by the time the salads arrived. We ordered a second round as soon as our entrees arrived and were completely finished eating before they ever arrived.
I will certainly go back because I know that there are sometimes staffing issues everywhere, but they definitely need to work on that portion of their service.
It was not quite what I expected from looking at the internet site--it seemed a bit more upscale online. I was a bit disappointed in the ambiance -- plain wooden booth--the staff was young, not overly friendly, and it took awhile to get our food/bill. We were late for the Nutcracker because of it. The wine I ordered was not near even a half glass. The food was just okay, though it did taste rather authentic from some of what I had experienced in Italy. I enjoyed talking to our waiter David, and I think he just got really busy.
I don't go to a relatively expensive Italian restaurant expecting mediocre food and obnoxious, loud crowds and music. I knew that it was a football weekend and expected it to be busy, but the atmosphere and food were more like a pub than a place to have a celebration dinner. If that's what they're going for, fine - put a burger on the menu. If not, they need to up their game. Food and service definitely not worth the prices.
We were in town to see a play and decided to try this restaurant. I ordered the shrimp pasta along with my mother-in-law. My grandmother ordered the lasagna. The pasta was not great. The shrimp appeared to be pre-frozen and unthawed. They were also over-cooked. The pasta also had too many peppers. I was expecting more, especially since it was 32 bucks. It did not taste authentic at all. The lasagna was decent. We wanted a good meal, but might have been better off with bar food that night... unfortunately.
Place was fairly busy. We were in on a Saturday night so that's to be expected. Our server seemed like it was one of her first days. The real problem with the experience was that everything took FOREVER. There was only four of us in that night before the late show at the Comedy Attic. It took forever to be greeted, then forever to get our drinks. I had gray hair before we even got our food orders placed. We ended up being there for over 2 hours without even having time for dessert or coffee or anything because we had the show to get to and everything was SO SLOW. I reiterate because it truly was that bad. No management was circulating to check on the experience or to explain what the deal was. I'm sure they were trying not to have to give everything away for how terrible the service was. Well congratulations, I paid full price, but you won't ever be getting my money again.
We were very satisfied with our experience at Grazie Italiano. The food was good, excellent portions, and the service was perfect. We were under a time constraint and our server (Ali) was right on top of it. I would recommend Grazie Italiano and will request it for our next trip back to Bloomington
Went here with an out of town friend and my daughter and fiance. We had reservations and got seated immediately. Erin was our waitress and was very good throughout our visit. We each got different dishes and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The bread before the meal was very good with the dipping oil.
We went there for a birthday celebration! Made the reservation on Opentable for 10. None of us had ever been there before! Everyone was very friendly when we walked through the door. We have a son in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating to his needs. Sara, our server was AWESOME. The food was AWESOME. We brought our own birthday cake in & Sara got everything ready for us to celebrate! We had a great experience & can't wait to come back for another visit!
Wasn't greeted at the door and our reservation was never entered in Open Table and we were reported to not have made it there for the reservation. Food was good but service took forever. Took over almost 45 minutes to get our food. Very, very slow. Appetizers came out before the bread and wine. Very disorganized. Looked like a bunch of kids were running the place. Don't know that we'll be back anytime soon.
Located on the square in downtown Bloomington, it has a lot of large tables so it is great for those times that mom and dad come into town to take their kid out for "real food." it also has some quiet corners so it would be fun for a date night or other quiet conversation. The food was amazing. We had the bruschetta first -- nicely spicy. the garlic bread was decadent. I had the minestrone soup. Very good. Kids liked the pasta and the sauces were not overly done either spicy or heavy.
We had a reservation for Party of 8 at 8:30pm on September 15. We were sat at approximately 8:45pm. It took more than 20 minutes to simply get the bread and salad which were told wouldn't be given until after we ordered main courses. We finally ordered main courses and then waited..and waited.. and waited. At approximately 9:45pm we were told "a few more minutes". Finally, at 10:05pm we were told it would be another 15-20 minutes. Of course we decided to leave. My wife walked back in to discuss with the manager. That took another 10 minutes to track down a manager. He was not overly empathetic which upset my wife even more. He did end up giving us a $50 gift card. Overall, can't imagine going back to this restaurant.
Second time we have eaten here. Great place to come up with a group and like the new renovation. The food was not quite as good as the last time we were here but still on par for Bloomington. Staff is very friendly, but service was very backed up due to parents weekend. Some fine-tuning of getting drinks would help calm the inpatient nerves
Granted it was Parents Weekend at IU & extremely busy but service was over the top slow and when we finally got our food it wasn't warm. Our waitress was wonderful though (Erin) and the slowness wasn't her fault she was attentive and kept us updated on our meal status.
