Everyone was so friendly and our waitress , Haley, was very good and helpful. Good wine, good food....a great experience. We will be back!
First time trying Gravy, and it was a great choice. The garlic bread to start was wonderful. I had the ravioli, I cleaned my plate even though I was stuffed. They make a great dirty martinis! Fully enjoyed the experience!
Food was good and so was the service. The chicken parm was really good.
Ate dinner on a weeknight at a 5:00p seating. Service was a little slow to start us with water and a drink order but was attentive and knowledgeable afterward. Some of the food was excellent, such as the salami board (cured meats, cheeses, olives, fried almonds, etc. each of which was a la carte), bruschetta, and the stripped bass. Clams linguini and chicken parmesan were good but not excellent (the gravy seemed a little dry and the chicken was not pounded thin as I have come to expect for veal or chicken parmesan). Probably will not return considering the travel, parking (downtown Raleigh), and cost compared with italian restaurants outside Raleigh. where similar or better versions of the two named dishes are also available.
I really liked the atmosphere, quite unique. Not too casual and good for a date. The garlic knots are great. We got the charcuterie board which wasnt amazing but okay. Salami and cheese were good but guess I just don't care for the dry cured pork shouler. Crostinis it was served with were way too hard. I got gluten free bolognese which was delicious, was a red lentil pasta. Can only imagine what the real thing would taste like. My date got Lasagna which he loved. It didn't look like anything amazing but I had a bite and the flavor was so good, very authentic tasting. Would definitely get that again. Service was good too.
My Kale salad was Awesome. Got a Chicken dish (chicken had no seasoning but was tender, wild rice tasted like lemon).
We like Gravy. The service was excellent as were the salads. My husband's pasta had too much sauce. Should have had more pasta. Also there was a large group (10) near us who were quite loud.
Lovely staff. Good food. Would definitely recommend.
My client had Spaghetti and Meatballs and I had the vegetarian pasta. Both were amazing. The gravy on the spaghetti was so incredibly good. We shared a charcuterie board which was delicious. I also had the spinach salad which was better than most spinach salads I’ve had. He was impressed which added positively to my business meeting. So, thanks Gravy!!
My husband and I tried Gravy for our anniversary and we were not wow-ed as we had expected for a place called Gravy. The food was fine. Service was fine. We've had Italian food that has been equally as good for less money and in a quieter setting. Nothing to complain about, just wasn't really anything exciting either.
AMAZING I would come back again. Food was great for a decent price.
Complete Italian menu with lots of options. Food & atmosphere are great. Located downtown near bars & other nightlife. Will return to Gravy next time in Raleigh.
Great food and wonderful staff!!
Came to Raleigh for Rock and Roll Half Marathon and needed to carb up the night before. Excellent Chicken Parmesan and local beers.
Great experience! Would def go back!
We had a great meal with our family. Can’t wait to return to Gravy!
Disappointing experience for a special family dinner. The biggest issue was the food. All our pasta was way over cooked - almost mushy. Properly cooked pasta seems like a no brainer for an Italian restaurant. My daughter chicken piccata was uninspired as well. With all the excellent restaurant options in Raleigh these days it is doubtful we would return to Gravy.
Very good traditional Italian. Always good service and food.
The six of us had a great time. Our four guests have not eaten here before and loved it! They said they are coming back.
We had a 5:45 pm reservation on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately and noticed how quickly the restaurant filled in the next 10-15 minutes. Our waitress provided top notch service (I LOVE wait staff with excellent recommendations and know their menu!). The food & drinks (bolognese and chicken parmigiana AND raspberry martini) were delicious. We had a late lunch that day and didn't want to cancel our reservation so we didn't skipped appetizers and desserts - we will be back soon to try!
It was good but not amazing. Chicken parm was a large portion so we split it. Overall, the food didn’t necessarily stand out but I’d go back for lunch maybe?
Garlic knots are great. They ran out due to a large party. The Brie was unexpected as not normal Brie and toaster strudel like. Pasta dish I got was a tad over cooked. Made a reservation requesting a booth but got a table near an exterior door where cold air kept wafting in every time people came in and out. Had to complain to be moved. There’s actually worse seating in the musty basement. Third experience here that was not the best from really bad seating when better seating available, to over cooked pasta, to not the friendliness hostess or wait staff. This could be a great place but out of the 1/2 dozen times I’ve been here something is always off. Shame as all the elements are there for a great place but I always leave disappointed.
It was great
Loved the home made Gnocchi and the Gnudi! The salad was fresh and flavorful
One of my favorite reataurants in Raleigh. The food is always wonderful, staff is excellent & ambiance is great.
I absolutely love this place.
Never been disappointed when dining here.
Easy parking. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Waitress made great recommendations.
Wonderful food and great service. The place is small. If you get a table in the middle of the floor there’s just a lot of people walking very close by you.
Our second visit to Gravy. A somewhat limited Italian menu but excellent choices in all categories.
Very good environment for business meeting. Food was very good.
We've heard great things about this place and have wanted to try it for awhile now. Ate there on Sunday night with friends. It was nothing special. Menu is sort of small, but great that it's local farm, etc. Our friends got spaghetti and meatballs and said nothing remarkable about them, even the lamb meatball. Seafood risotto was good, but nothing else. Chicken picatta with rice and undresed greens was good but not more. We felt it was high-priced based on what we got. No house wines either and per glass was pricey.
Haven't dined here in awhile....used to be a regular. Has always been a favorite. Know it was very busy, but food had no flavor, only mildly warm. Seemed like I was eating leftovers reheated.
Great service and ambiance though.
So we have been to Gravy several times and have always loved it. Don’t know what was wrong this Saturday but the waitress wasn’t at all interested in her job. Had to ask her what the specials were, had to wait 15 minutes before she even asked about our order and only checked back with us once while we were eating. No offer of drink refills or another glass of wine. Gnocchi was good as always but my husband had their signature Gravy and it was half the portion it was a few months ago
Great food and service. I was disappointed with the table, which in the back by the stairs. We made reservations, so I expected a better table. Not sure I would waste my time going there again.
Good food, service and value. Nice downtown spot for lunch.
Loved the Gnocchi and Duck Meatballs. Great service, we had a show to get to so our server Missy took great care of us and we made it to our show on time.
A dependable addition to the Raleigh food scene. Food always good, good wine list, attentive service.
This was my first visit to Gravy. Some friends recommended it as a good choice for Italian food. The four of us each ordered different options and all of us enjoyed our means. Thanks for a very nice lunch!
This was our first visit to Gravy, but it won't be our last. Our only regret was that they were out of the pumpkin ravioli, so we will have to go back. My husband is a pescetarian and I am carnivore. We were both very happy with our dinners, and our wine choice.
Food was okay. Chicken parm not that flavorful. Drinks are ok. Service was the best part. Small restaurant that's crowded.
