Garlic knots are great. They ran out due to a large party. The Brie was unexpected as not normal Brie and toaster strudel like. Pasta dish I got was a tad over cooked. Made a reservation requesting a booth but got a table near an exterior door where cold air kept wafting in every time people came in and out. Had to complain to be moved. There’s actually worse seating in the musty basement. Third experience here that was not the best from really bad seating when better seating available, to over cooked pasta, to not the friendliness hostess or wait staff. This could be a great place but out of the 1/2 dozen times I’ve been here something is always off. Shame as all the elements are there for a great place but I always leave disappointed.
It was great
Loved the home made Gnocchi and the Gnudi! The salad was fresh and flavorful
One of my favorite reataurants in Raleigh. The food is always wonderful, staff is excellent & ambiance is great.
I absolutely love this place.
Never been disappointed when dining here.
Easy parking. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Waitress made great recommendations.
Wonderful food and great service. The place is small. If you get a table in the middle of the floor there’s just a lot of people walking very close by you.
Our second visit to Gravy. A somewhat limited Italian menu but excellent choices in all categories.
Very good environment for business meeting. Food was very good.
We've heard great things about this place and have wanted to try it for awhile now. Ate there on Sunday night with friends. It was nothing special. Menu is sort of small, but great that it's local farm, etc. Our friends got spaghetti and meatballs and said nothing remarkable about them, even the lamb meatball. Seafood risotto was good, but nothing else. Chicken picatta with rice and undresed greens was good but not more. We felt it was high-priced based on what we got. No house wines either and per glass was pricey.
Haven't dined here in awhile....used to be a regular. Has always been a favorite. Know it was very busy, but food had no flavor, only mildly warm. Seemed like I was eating leftovers reheated.
Great service and ambiance though.
So we have been to Gravy several times and have always loved it. Don’t know what was wrong this Saturday but the waitress wasn’t at all interested in her job. Had to ask her what the specials were, had to wait 15 minutes before she even asked about our order and only checked back with us once while we were eating. No offer of drink refills or another glass of wine. Gnocchi was good as always but my husband had their signature Gravy and it was half the portion it was a few months ago
Great food and service. I was disappointed with the table, which in the back by the stairs. We made reservations, so I expected a better table. Not sure I would waste my time going there again.
Good food, service and value. Nice downtown spot for lunch.
Loved the Gnocchi and Duck Meatballs. Great service, we had a show to get to so our server Missy took great care of us and we made it to our show on time.
A dependable addition to the Raleigh food scene. Food always good, good wine list, attentive service.
This was my first visit to Gravy. Some friends recommended it as a good choice for Italian food. The four of us each ordered different options and all of us enjoyed our means. Thanks for a very nice lunch!
This was our first visit to Gravy, but it won't be our last. Our only regret was that they were out of the pumpkin ravioli, so we will have to go back. My husband is a pescetarian and I am carnivore. We were both very happy with our dinners, and our wine choice.
Food was okay. Chicken parm not that flavorful. Drinks are ok. Service was the best part. Small restaurant that's crowded.
Great food, great service and delicious garlic knots. I could eat them along with a bowl of "gravy" as a meal.
My wife’s lasagna was wonderful. My entrée, called family gravy, was nothing special. Her lemon cheesecake was delicious, my Teremasu was so so. She would go back again; I wouldn’t.
Read it was the best Italian food in Raleigh, it has a lot to learn. Had to return the Lamb as it was very dry ( and it is a dish that we order all the time when we see it)and the other dish we ate because we did not want to wait. Sorry not again.
Our party of 4 had this assessment of the Food& Drink: lamb shank was very good, chicken parm was average, sausage in the family meal could have had more flavor, lemon raspberry martini was tasty but was a weak drink. The tiramisu was excellent though. We all agreed it was one of the best tiramisus we've had.
The food was a disappointment. It lacked seasoning and was nothing spectacular. It was okay. The service was good and the waiter was attentive. The place was very loud. We could barely hear each other sitting across from one another.
Amanda was an awesome server. I was with people from out of town and she easily engaged with them and put everyone at ease.
Good food, nice menu.... slow at the bar, and not yet crowded.. we waited and then received our meals BEFORE our drinks.. Not exactly what I had in mind when I ordered a cocktail..
Great food. Second time there. Would definitely go back again.
Great night. Great staff. Great food
Great value for the quality of food. Server was busy, but would otherwise recommend for any occasion. Portions are just right, not too large.
This place was AWESOME!!!! The food was tasty and oh my goodness I didn’t have to wait long to get it. This was my first visit and I recommend this place for any type of occasion. I will definitely dine here again. This place definitely gets 2 thumbs up from me.
My husband and I chose Gravy for a fun date night dinner. We enjoyed everything we were served. We started out with the duck meatballs, which were the best meatballs either of us had tasted. The cherry sauce was an extra fun touch. The garlic knots were super to soak up the extra cherry sauce. My local green salad was fresh and yummy. I chose mushroom gnocchi with fried chicken added on top. Myhusband had lasagna. We basically ate off of each others plates. Everything was delicious, warm and fresh. For dessert the budino was a fun first for us. We will be back to Gravy, that is for sure!
Gravy is a charming, cozy, intimate restaurant with an innovative menu. The menu is on the small size, which to me means fresh and readily available, plus there are several specials and a decent wine list. The appetizer muscles were plump and perfectly cooked and swimming in a delectable garlic sauce. The bass entree was succulent, and I loved the vegetarian mushroom gnocchi. There was not a television in sight, and the ambiance was just right for conversation.
I was impressed that Kelly, our waiter, recommended a wine more to my liking after I had ordered a "second choice" wine. After tasting his recommended wine, I ordered his suggested wine instead.
Great Italian food! Restaurant is small which is part of it's charm!
This place only gets smoother and better over time..... Very smooth and streamline . Great service . Great sauce great bread great wine great salads great rizzoto balls !
Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife. Great choice of venue with a very nice, intimate ambiance with the restaurant being fairly compact, not a huge, impersonal place. I’d happily recommend!
Gravy is a great restuarent for a date. We ordered the risoto balls, chicken parm, and lasagna. I would highly reccomend.
Had high expectations going in but unfortunately, Gravy won't meet my top Italian places to go to in Raleigh. First and foremost, the service was great. No complaints there. However, the baked brie appetizer had no flavor (and I love brie!) and it was nearly $16 for just lasagna. High price and the tables in the middle sat very close together. I was looking forward to a romantic evening and ended up mostly hearing the conversations on both sides of me. I think there are much better italian places out there.
Needed reservations for Sunday evening dinner. But food was very good & our waitress was excellent.
Over crowed with the tables for two down the center.
