The service was good and the food was fair enough, but we weren’t blown away by any means.
Food was tasty — had the baked Brie, shrimp fa diavlo, and butternut squash & scallop risotto. Went on a Tuesday evening and we were some of the only folks there! They are always super busy on weekends.
Awesome meal for Daddy / Daughter night out! Risotto balls were delicious! Pasta dishes were spot on. And then cheesecake/ sorbet dessert sharing topped it off!
The food was AMAZING and not over priced. The staff is so friendly as well. Great environment all around!
Friday night dinner before the symphony and had a great meal. Food was good. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Looking forward to the next time experiencing the menu.
Attentive staff. Great "gravy". Beverage prices were a little high. Food prices were fine.
Great food and drinks. Casual but nice atmosphere with great service!
Food was amazing and they were very accommodating with my food allergy! Highly recommend.
Been a huge fan of Gravy for a very long time. Last night was the worst service I have ever experience at Gravy. Our server was MIA most of the night. Also, it was not busy last night....so, not sure why the server could not stay on top of the table. I had to as other servers for help.
Food was great but service was terrible. We were ignored for 15 minutes after being seated and then our waitress was rude and inattentive.
Food was delicious.
Delicious, good service, handy parking, recommend the salmon.
The kitchen got backed up which is totally understandable however there were some issues. Our server did apologize but also disappeared for half the night. Our reservation was at 7 and we did not get our food until 8:45. This might not have been a problem considering the kitchen got backed up but the table next to us, that ordered 20 minutes after us, got their food 20 minutes before we did. Another table next to us also got their food before we did even though we ordered first. We were about to cancel our order when it was finally brought out. By that time we were no longer hungry and wanted to leave. When the food came out we asked for to go boxes. I don’t think our server realized tables that ordered after us got their food before we did.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh and have never had issues like this before. It must have been an off night but it was disappointing.
Everything was good except main course spaghetti and meatballs. Noodles were really tough. Waiter said it was homemade. Meatballs were really tough. Could only eat half and gave up.
My fiance and I made dinner reservations for our anniversary 2.5 weeks in advance. We indicated that this dinner was a special event for us (our wedding anniversary) and requested a booth. When we arrived at the restaurant and gave the hostess our name, we were surprised that we didn't receive a "Happy anniversary!" in return. Instead, we were quickly ushered pat the booths, to a small wobbly non-booth table in the back. Our server didn't seem to have any knowledge that it was our anniversary either. When we ordered drinks, one of the drinks we were brought was an incorrect order. Our appetizer (the risotto balls) were great. But our pasta dishes were absolutely terrible. My wife's meatballs were overcooked, almost burnt. Her spaghetti was completely underdone, with some pieces even crunching as she bit into them. My dish, the Talgliatelle Bolognese, was also underdone, with clumps of pasta that completely stuck together. I actually had to get out my knife to cut through the huge chunks of stuck together, undercooked pasta. Our server never stopped by to ask how the food was until we asked for the check. We conveyed our concerns about the food, and his only response was whether we'd like to order dessert.
My wife and I are extremely low maintenance, but for a meal costing over $100, we expected more. This was the worst restaurant experience I've personally had in 5+ years. It pains me to say this because we live less than two blocks away, but we won't be back to Gravy.
Great menu and service
The service was great. The gravy not so good. Two meals had some woody thick sprigs in them. Not edible. We asked the server and he say tomato vines? Maybe that’s where the bad flavor came from. The gravy was really bad sauce. Overcooked? Meatballs were hard balls of beef. Tasteless. The gnocchi was good and the lasagna was good. The pasta was definitely fresh. I love good fresh sauce but my leftovers will go in the trash.
The food was mediocre at best. Would not dine here again.
Great food, great drinks and super friendly service!
Real Italian sauce/gravy per my Italian wife. Our first visit and certainly not our last. Have to return to decide which is better; the service or the food. Cheers!
Made a reservation and the restaurant called me the day before to move it back. No big deal- that was fine. However, when me and my party arrived at the restaurant the table was not ready for an additional 20 minutes or so after the new adjusted time. That was inconvenient and the point of making the reservation had gone out the window. Our waiter was excellent, but the food was subpar. I got the chicken parm and it was very bland and the noodles tasted like they had been refrigerated over night. I wouldn't come back here.
Gravy is a great place to enjoy a tasty meal and conversation with good people. Highly recommend!
This is an Italian restaurant which means abundant and hot food with fresh bread. Ours was over cooked and had to ask for bread twice. Excellent server though!
I wasn’t impressed with the chicken dish. The chicken was dry and flavor was just ok. Husband’s lasagna was much better but a very small portion.
It was an overall poor dining experience. Our server was not attentive. Bread & drinks came out delayed and old dishes remained our table which was a struggle to receive our entrées. The flavor was decent but the food was not brought out within a decent amount of time 45 min after order placed. Some where cold/warm others were ver hot. The staff was not working together to deal with service demand fluctuations. I’ll not go back.
The evening was awesome. The food and desert were incredible along with the service
Delicious meal all the way around. Our family celebrated a special evening out and the food was outstanding. We enjoyed the staff’s fun spirit and great food.
We will be back again!
Tables were surprisingly close together given the Covid situation. Good food. Limited menu but good portions.
Delicious meal and great location! Felt a little cramped and was placed in an unideal spot. Would return but prefer a quieter table.
The food and service were excellent. I’d made a reservation three weeks before our dinner. We were seated in the back at a table for 6, right by the service and kitchen entrance. I asked if we could move to a booth ( was available ) and told “no” by the hostess. I said I’d be happy to wait for a booth, told “no.” Ok , we’ll sit in the most undesirable place. Then they proceeded to seat 8 women at a table for 6. The sound level was horrible. We couldn’t carry on a dinner conversation. I get it’s a holiday, but I was willing to wait but wasn’t given that as an option.
great place for a relaxed dinner date, i recommend the risotto balls for an appetizer
Service was outstanding! Wine, appetizers, salads were all really great as well. Our entrees were good, but a little underwhelming. Not nearly enough of the "gravy" on the pasta dishes. Overall would recommend for a good time with friends or family.
Gravy was one of my husband's favorite places. In memory of him, his daughter and I went to Gravy for dinner. I had been there before and thought the food was much better in the past. I got the Saltimbooca and my step-daughter got a pasta dish. The house Chianti was nice and the service was definitely good. But it definitely wasn't the top shelf Italian dining experience I remembered from the past. The chicken wasn't that thin sliced or tender, the sauce was decent, the root vegetables were underdone. Even the garlic knots were not as good as they were quite oily and underdone. Maybe it just wasn't their best night.
This was my first time and my food came out burnt. Management did not come out to see if I was ok. Only the server apologized. Waited for food for more than 30 min. I had salmon and a salad. Flat bread crust was under cooked.
Gravy is a great place! We took our family and everyone's food was great. The service was exceptional! Everyone seemed to very polite and out going and prompt. Can't wait to go again!
rolls were cold, not fresh, over smell of restaurant was not good…smells like dirty feet. Entrees were great. Server seemed to forget we even ordered.
The service was great - our service was pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious!! My new team members who hadn’t been truly enjoyed it.
We were here for our anniversary dinner. The bruschetta, lasagna and chicken parm were great. Service from Rene was excellent. I hope to come back soon.
Wonderful, sweet waitress and gave us cheesecake for the birthday girl!!!
