About this restaurant

From unhurried classical dining in our atmospheric wood panelled restaurant to leisurely lunches in the garden, from traditional Afternoon Teas to our very reasonable Daily menu – we hope to delight and enchant with our food regardless of the occasion. We are incredibly fortunate to have a one acre walled kitchen garden, which during the summer months provides 95% of all fruit and vegetables we use in the kitchen, assuring you of the very freshest ingredients.

"We have an exceptionally talented team in the kitchen who are very keen to keep ingredients as fresh and local as possible. Dishes will change as often as is practical and will offer something new to try regardless of how often our guests dine with us. I look forward to inviting you into our restaurant at an exciting time to try, what I firmly believe to be, some of the most honest and delicious food in food in the area." Executive Chef – Rupert Gleadow

I had the best meal this year during the week at Gravetye. What they served on Sunday was pub food, in fact my parents cooked me a much better roast last Sunday. Disappointing as I'd like to see them get their michelin star back. Person ahead of me paying said the same thing, I decided not to make a fuss. Bill was wrong and then when we refused another bottle of sparkling water they dumped tap water into our glasses before they were finished.

I was last at romantic Gravetye as a wide-eyed 16 year old, several decades ago: it was the first place I'd been where the orange juice for my Campari was squeezed on the spot. Standards of attention today are as high: an attentive and charming brigade was at pains to see that everyone's experience was flawless. The tasting menu was extremely well balanced and the sommelier's wine flight gave outstanding choices. The bill hurt - but then I wasn't expecting otherwise and could have chosen the bon marche lunch menu.

Beautiful setting and a very cosy location. The roaring fire as you come in was very welcoming against the cold outdoors. A lovely 16th C British home with character and friendly staff. I would go again

I booked my business partner and I in for an extra special Friday night of extravagance which consisted of the tasting menu, champagne (I wouldn't recommend the house champagne), cocktails, wine flights and brandies. We were met in the car park by a friendly face who was only too happy to help direct and assist in any matter. The cocktails in the drawing room were an unneccesary extra which allowed my business partner to talk turkey as I enjoyed lounging around with lavish cocktails. The pairing of wine with the tasting dishes was quite superb. Like all tasting menus, some courses exceeded others but overall it was a majestic night of sky-high servitude and sensory scrumminess.

This a lovely restaurant...set in a beautiful house with beautiful gardens. The staff were cheerful and very helpful and courteous. The food was delicious and the menu different. Unfortunately it was raining the day we were there..so we couldn't look around the gardens...eventhough the restaurant provided Umbrellas and Wellies..!!

We spent our honeymoon at Gravetye 30 years ago. We have been coming back over the years to soak up it's splendor. Our last visit for lunch did not disappoint. It is important to go an hour early to walk in the magnificent gardens and take an aperitif in the garden or in front of the fire before your meal. There is really know place like Gravetye,

Another lovely afternoon at the Gravetye. The set lunch was excellent and reasonable value. Beetroot definitely Flavour of the Month ! Friendly, attentive service, as always. A little quiet in the restaurant, but probably not surprising on a Monday afternoon. And the sun came out as well - beautiful location.

For garden lovers and those who enjoy great food in a country house setting a day trip to Gravetye is an experience to be savored. We had stayed overnight many years ago and always wanted to return. This time as we had rented a flat in London we took the Gatwick Express and rented a car and drove to Gravetye. After touring the gardens which are even more spectacular than we remembered we enjoyed a glass of wine while ordering lunch. Lunch was superb-both food and service. Then we settled down to coffee in one of the elegant drawing rooms. Don't plan on doing much else on a day trip to Gravetye as touring the gardens, lunch and post lunch relaxation will fill your day.

A special occasion place, wonderful for celebrating a birthday or anniversary (as we were). I would only go to for a special treat because it is expensive. Staff were friendly. Sommelier suggested English sparkling wine 'Bluebell' pre-dinner (no prosecco by the glass) and it was excellent. Three course a la carte dinner, beautifully presented, few carbs (good) and tasted sublime. A formal dining experience; wine poured for us, taken away from the table between replenishment of glasses. We were convinced that there was some wine left and asked 'have we finished it?' and were told that we had... hmmmm not so sure about that. Next time we'll ask for the wine bottle to be left on the table so that we can pour it ourselves.
