Father’s Day dinner
One of a kind setting!!! Excellent food!! Great for a specail occasion.
Absolutely wonderful! We were transformed into an Italian village street cafe atmosphere with excellent food.
Vibrant venue. The atmosphere is thoughtfully crafted to transform your dinner to a destination event. The decor was brought from Italy and feels like a Las Vegas restaurant. A fun experience with deliciously decadent food.
Our waitress was like a robot. Not friendly. No smile. Nothing to make us feel like we were dining at a special place. It was way too cold we had to go get coats we keep in the trunk of the car. Tables are too close. I don’t need to hear what the people at the table next to me are saying. The food was good but there are too many other issues. We won’t go back.
good food, very traditional place, service a little bit slow
This was a wonderful experience all around! We were placed at a table in the balcony area and the entire experience was a treat for everyone in my party and even helped entertain our 3 year old. We will surely be back!
Great food. Pricey but we knew that going into it. There was a super loud table of adults near us which didn’t really add to the ambiance but I’m not sure what the staff could have done about it.
We went for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The hostess and waitress wished us happy anniversary and we had a beautiful table to enjoy our dinner. The atmosphere is awesome and really makes you feel like you are dining in the evening in Italy outdoor.
Our server was a bit short with us and rude. The pasta was too salty. decaf coffee took a long time to come out - should not have been charged for it - we were already done with dessert. The ambiance is beautiful but beyond that it is a more expensive, slightly more refined olive garden.
Our food was below average. I asked for a substitution for a garlic allergy and was ignored. Prices are way too high and menu does not have enough options. We will not go back.
I reserved a table on Open Table and gave specific instructions that this dinner was to celebrate 3 birthdays, my son, my brother-in-law, and my significant other. I asked that GG do something to help celebrate, whatever that is. Jordan called me to confirm and I gave her their names. I got another call to confirm the next day and then on Saturday morning (the day of the birthday celebration) I got another call and was asked AGAIN....what are the names of the birthday guests? I told her Cameron, Darrell and Greg. When I walked in your restaurant that evening at 5:15 pm (and you were not crowded) , I was asked again, "oh you are celebrating birthdays tonight"? and I said Yes. Not one thing was done or said by the server to celebrate their birthdays. She brought a dessert menu and passed it out and never said a word. They ordered dessert, then I pulled her aside and said "ok, I told GG 3 times that we were celebrating b-days and gave their names. Are you not doing anything for them to celebrate?" She replied, I didn't know anything about it and then offered to bring them a cannoli? Seriously?????? My bill was $over $400 with tax and tip. I will NOT be returning to GG! EVER!!!!
Our server Mo was incredible. We really enjoy the food and the restaurant.
Grassa Gramma is hands down the BEST Italian place in Ky!! One of the best restaurants in general too. The ambiance is spot on as it creates a true Venice vibe. You really feel like your in Italy the moment you walk through the grand wooden doors! The food is impeccable! Tastes just like how my Sicilian family made it- with spice & love! Will definitely make it there regularly.
Our Italian family love to try new restaurant s but I have to say the lunch we order lacked flavor. Also disappointed in waitress when you tell someone you have never been there they want to provide inform. I had ask a lot of questions before we got her to talk about menu. The gentleman walking around filling glass was extreme, we took a sip and he was right at your table-ease off a little. Our extended family had warned us about the food but we tried it anyway, will listen next time!
This is our new favorite restaurant! We love the atmosphere and food and we’ve always had great service.
awesome food, service and ambience
In no particular order this list is the best way to express what I have to say.
1. Our food was not good. It was not even average Italian food.
The carbonara special had mushy noodles, and I don't believe it was served correctly with your typical spaghetti, linguine, or fettuccine noodle. The sauce was bland and it did not taste like a homemade pasta dish what so ever.
2. The atmosphere is very confusing. It feels upscale, but yet you have $8 appetizers, $14 pizzas, $20 pasta and $62 porterhouse and fake candles. I love good cheap food, and I love good expensive food. Pick a side you can't be both, especially on a Friday night.
3. The pasta orecchiette was covered in red pepper flakes to the point where it over powered the dish.
4. The tables are entirely too close together. If I am paying for a fine dining experience I don't want to be one foot from another table and hear their conversation. It felt like the Cheesecake Factory and quite frankly cheapened the whole atmosphere and experience.
Also your servers literally had to reach over us because they couldn't squeeze in between the tables to refill our glasses. You could tell they felt awkward.
5. We had four people in our party. A solid 4-top table would be nice. Not two 2-top tables pushed together. Again it cheapens such a nice place.
6. Why were we given a comment card and an email sign up list??? That's tacky.
7. Please correct me if I am wrong, but were the potatoes served with the salmon instant mashed potatoes??
8. The bread being served every 5 minutes was obnoxious. This isn't Fazolios. Leave the bread basket and if I want more I'll ask for it.
Why can’t an Italian restaurant serve simply wonderful Italian food rather than trying to be fancy schmancy? Not a simple dish with marinara sauce. It was hard to understand what the food was from reading the menu. And reading the menu wasn’t easy as it was so dark we had to hold the fake candle on the table next to menu to read it, and we were there early. The bread wasn’t bad, once we got it 45 minutes after we arrived and only after we asked while many others who arrived later had received bread much earlier. The Caesar salad was an intact half of Romaine lettuce that had been charred on the grill without much dressing - it was dry.
Lots of people working there - one guy whose job was to keep water glasses full, another whose job was to go from table to table to serve a square of bread [he missed our table and those near us as well], 4 girls at the intake table, one of whom was chewing gum the whole time. The pasta pomodoro was a large portion but the pasta was under cooked even for a la dente.
It was over priced, and an unpleasant experience.
We had equally poor service the one time we went to Le Moo. There, the waiter gave the birthday celebrant her dessert without clearing the table or asking if the rest of us might have wanted dessert.
Kevin Grainger should train his staff if he wants us to spend the prices he charges.
I would tell you to try Grassa Gramma. However, I did not like the atmosphere - too dark and felt like I was in an old Italian church. Our food was very good, but limited cocktail selections.
Halibut was amazing and also the Brussels sprouts are best in Louisville. We had spaghetti and meatballs also - everything was perfect. Excellent drinks!
This is a great place for a special occasion or trying to impress a date. ;) The interior is amazing and could be a tourist attraction by itself.
I had lunch there so haven't seen a dinner menu but we were told about a $95, 36 ounce steak and a seafood dish that is very popular for about $35.
Lunch prices were mostly $10-20.
I'll go back for a special time.
Drinks were watered down, food was average for the price. Too loud - hard to hear at the table.
Needs much better attention to service at bar and at table. Food quality is good and bus service is good but bar staff and wait staff need more training
See review on Yelp, under Dan B. Awful.
Absolutely hate to give a 1 star, but just cant justify any higher.
We went here for my wife’s birthday and it was awesome. It is like going to Epcot without driving to Disney.I highly recommend the white Bolognese dish.
Birthday - very nice on a bike in piazza! Big portion not much flavor
Where we were seated was very dark. We couldn't read menu or see our food without using our phones. I told 3 staff people but they really couldn't do much about it. Fruitti de Mare pasta was not fully cooked and needed more seafood. Disappointing. Asparagus spears were very thin. Brussels sprouts were perfect! Foraged mushroom garganelli was delicious. Tiramisu was tasty. The decor is fascinating. Nooks for tables. Needed More light.
This was our first time to visit Grassa Gramma and we had a great experience we will be back. There is nothing in Louisville like this the ambiance is excellent. I highly recommend the King Salmon it was superb!
Atmosphere, food and service were all perfect. We had out of town guest in and they were very impressed
One of the best restaurants I seen in Louisville. Service was excellent and my server was amazing
The ambiance was beautiful. I felt that the food was overpriced for what you got.
Referred by a friend and my Wife and I went for our anniversary. We Loved It!! The service was great the food was better and the atmosphere was perfect. Our servers name was Mo, she was awesome and took great care of us! Prices were very fair and we will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
We made reservations for our anniversary weeks ahead and we were seated in the upper level with a view of the kitchen. Not what I would expect for a special occasion and making reservations so far in advance. Makes me think they treat Open Table customers differently.
Outstanding overall experience
First visit... and probably last.
Sad that 2 tables near were incredibly loud particularly a male at each. So rude and insensitive. They should be limited to outside eats
Service (Jessica) was fantastic. Wonderful ambiance. I was a little disappointed with the food. The quality was not on par with the price.
This is our second visit. We always love Grassa Gramma!!!!
