The menu at Grandview Saloon is a great place for simple and well-prepared dishes. You can try the buffalo chicken dip or the BBQ pulled pork nachos. The flatiron steak and lemon pepper chicken are wonderful choices for an entre.
The Grandview Saloon is my go-to spot when I bring people to the city and want to show off the skyline. The outdoor bar is perfect with a killer view -- better than the overlook from the top of the Duquesne Incline where you can't see over the tall iron fencing. This weekend we brought friends from out of town for dinner and the view. There was a long wait but we finally got to sit outside -- the food was good. Nothing spectacular but a good burger and wraps sort of menu. You can also order from the expensive Coal Hollow Steak House menu, but the vibe on the porch calls for the lighter menu. If you are coming to the Grandview Saloon on a warm sunny weekend, I highly recommend making reservations.
The best thing about this restaurant was the view. We had reservations but were told there were problems in the kitchen and that we'd have to wait 45 minutes. When the hostess saw we were displeased, she said we could go sit at a table. After my friend went downstairs to the bar to get some water, the waitress came by. We were able to order. When I mentioned food allergies, I was told that the kitchen could not modify their entrees. Finally though, they did. We enjoyed the view but the disorganization made for a stressful rather than relaxing meal. There are better choices in the area.....
We had reservations for over 2 weeks and when we arrived we were told the bar and kitchen were “slammed” so we’d be waiting 30-45 min. Unacceptable. What is the point of having a reservation?!!!!!
Although the restaurant was a little loud, the food and views from Mt. Washington were terrific.
Our server was outstanding best view in the city and the best view of the city
The only thing better than the view is their steaks!! Great service!!!
Amazing view! Good food and service. My only complaint would be, the tables are very close together (2-3”) outside on deck. Not sure of the inside seating.
Food and service was awesome! My fiance said it was best ribeye he ever had! I had the sea bass which was amazing too. We enjoyed our visit!
Everything was fine. An overall average dining experience. Our waitress was lovely. I would consider this a very casual restaurant.
Friendly, helpful staff. Crab cakes were delicious. Outstanding view of the city
Beautiful view and food was amazing! Our server was very pleasant and we didn't wait long for anything.
What a wonderful place to have a great brunch with my husband and daughter! I made reservations through OpenTable with no issues, and we actually go the "window seat" that I had requested in my note. We arrived at 12:30 PM after riding up the *horrifying* Duquesne Incline. Remind me to NEVER do that again!
The brunch was fantastic - we had the french toast with a side of bacon. The bacon was TO.DIE.FOR. We each had a couple of mimosas, mostly so that I could ride the incline back DOWN to the parking lot.
The view from our one-short-flight-upstairs was absolutely fantastic. The outdoor deck was pretty full of people, but none of us really like to eat outside. We all very much enjoyed our server and the spectacular food. It's pricey, but absolutely worth it, especially for special occasions. I would absolutely recommend any special occasion here - unless you're loaded, then I'd go every weekend for the brunch!
The food was great and the staff was very welcoming. Unfortunately the large table next to us was very loud and disruptive and disrespectful.
It was a great experience!! Delicious food, great service and a great view
Overall, this place is mediocre. The view you can’t beat, but the way trip advisor describes this row of restaurants....maybe a decade ago. This one in particular is cute, not high end. Which was fine we went for lunch. The biggest complaint we had was lack of communication. The servers should tell you there is an $8 fee to share a plate. We ordered an appetizer and split a sandwich and paid $8 to share said sandwich which was already $16. Honestly, not worth the hike or quality. The fee also isn’t on the lunch menu, when we asked it was stated on dinner but no one cared to rectify the issue.
Worth it just for the view . Food was average .
Lovely lunch with lovely wife
The view was spectacular and the service very attentive and friendly. The food was just ok - nothing exciting and definitely pricey for what we got. We have the prime rib salad and the meat was just not that flavorful. The mazza platter was piled on too small a plate and the hummus was just ok. I don't think I would go back or maybe just for drinks and the view!
Their steak was one of the juiciest and best tasting I've had! Great view of the city. Classy yet relaxed ambiance.
We had an amazing first experience at Grandview! I made a last minute reservation for 2 and we got a seat right at the window with a really cool view!
Our server was very good and knowledgeable.
I got the ahi tuna that came out cooked perfectly and my boyfriend got steak that was also delicious and cooked perfectly. The prices are very reasonable for what you get.
We will definitely be back!
I wanted a particular sandwich, you can’t order sandwiches in the dining room...only in the bar area (which is ridiculous). So, I ordered a dinner....they were out of what I wanted. The food that I was able to order was good. After dinner coffee was served with coffee mate...half and half wasn’t available, they were able to get heavy cream from the kitchen.
Didn’t get the window seat but still good
Danielle is a great waitress. Efficient and kind!!!
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the view was spectacular.
Booked a reservation through Open Table. Drove all the way to Mt. Washington, only to find the restaurant closed to a boil water advisory. I would’ve hoped there would have been better communication between the restaurant and Open Table before accepting my reservation request. Do I have to follow up any future Open Table reservations with s call to the restaurant to first confirm they are actually open before making the journey there?
Food was absolute garbage. Not even worth the money. You pay for a view you can see for free.
It was aweful for over priced for what it is. The waitress had no clue that it was a beer that we were referring to drink. The bill was so expensive and the food was plain.
Justin was a great waiter, the place was nice, food was served properly and the crowd was perfect.
Good food. Beautiful view. Nice bar. Very accommodating wait staff. Prices high but well worth it considering the total experience.
This is a great spot! The food was brought out quickly. The food was great! The staff is very attentive. Definitely going back for more. Can’t wait when it gets warm to enjoy the patio!
The food, up to the dessert, was amazing. I would l.ove to go again.
Big turnoff they charge %4 percent if you use a credit card. Everyone uses a credit card. Either hide fee in the price of the food or eat it (lol). Appetizer was very good from a taste and portion perspective and very reasonably priced. The entrees are not reasonably priced and the drinks were way overpriced. Entrees were average at best from a taste perspective. The Lamont of Monterey Bay would be a better place to eat based on the price of the food and drinks and the overall atmosphere.
We are very sorry about the 4% issue. We were having problems with our credit card processor, which have since been resolved. We would love to have another chance to prove ourselves to you.
Wonderful place to showcase the beautiful Pittsburgh skyline! Great food and service!
Sit by the windows for a great view of the City! Good service and delish food.
Steak, view, and service were outstanding. Big servings and 28 day aged steak make the prices worth it!
We walked in and we’re the only party there. Instead of seating us upstairs with the white table clothes we were sat at a table with no table cloth that was not appealing. Server did not seem like he wanted to serve us and the atmosphere was terrible. It looked dirty as well. We chose to leave and not eat there. When letting the server know this he said perfect I’m exhausted, rather than asking why we were leaving or seeing what he could do to have us stay.
Added 4% service charge onto bill for use of debit/credit card. Said it was a new system. Significant to our bill since we had a party of 6, it was approximately $15 . Room was cold and service was marginal, but the entrees were delicious.
An incredible view and the food is good (Gohr certainly not gourmet or something it over food he will cherish but good). However, the ownership has problems with credit card fees and is making the customers pay them. I’m sure they are trying to make some sort of point but the point is be prepared to pay more if you want to pay with a credit card or go somewhere else.
Our family had a very nice holiday lunch before riding the Incline and enjoying the views of the confluence of the three rivers. Food and service were excellent in all respects.
There was a private party in the main dining area that no one told us about when we made our reservations so the noise level was very very loud. However the food was good and we loved the dimmed atmosphere
