We had a great time the food is delicious and the place is pretty
The food was fantastic. The bartender did an excellent job of creating a drink for us that we didn’t find on the menu. The food was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful.
Outstanding East foothill location with a 180' view of the Santa Clara Valley lights... beautiful. Awesome restaurant and outside deck seating. Gorgeous large bar, entry area. A must at least once or twice or more a year! Very special!
An awesome experience, but be prepared to pay for it. But even though it was an expensive night, we will definitely go back.
Food was good and service was great. Problem was what I considered to be high corkage ($35.00) and outrageous cakeage ($5.00 per person) fees. I had been to the Grand View 8 or 10 prior times prior to Saturday and have always very much enjoyed it but to hit me with $60 in extra charges on a $300 check was disingenuous at best.
We went for a special occasion. The view from the mountain is spectacular in the evening overlooking the valley. The service was superb, and the food was excellent, however some of the dinner portions need to be a bit larger. The deviled eggs appetizer was quite a surprise. Everyone enjoyed it.
We had high expectations for our New Year's Eve dinner. It was good but not excellent. At $150 per plate base one expects superb cuisine. Prime rib which was ordered medium, came out WELL done. Had to send it back. I prefer their La Forte restaurant over their Grandview location.
Service and food is always above par. Food is always cooked to perfection, vegetables always fresh, desserts delicious and cocktails are the best I’ve ever had. Well worth your money. My husband and I go here at least once every other month or so and we have never been disappointed with anything here. I recommend this place to everyone.
Grandview has a great view of the valley. It appeared every table had a good or great view of the valley. We went at night and we could see downtown San Jose all lit up. We sat inside but there is outdoor seating that is well heated.
The food was good. The drinks were good. There is a small bar that is quite nice. For us ... it is more of a special occasion place .. 2 people ... 3 drinks each, 1 appetizer, 2 salads, 2 dinners with tip = $300.00
Amazing staff in all departments. Great service, very little to no wait for seating and food. As servers, my boyfriend and I were the most impressed at how the service provided not only reflected the ambiance of the venue, but also carried it. The staff I had the chance to interact with and the server I had were very friendly and very accommodating. My server had thorough knowledge of the menu in which he was able to guide me in. I appreciated him asking about allergies so he could accommodate through that. The most impressive thing about the food outside of the taste, was the external and internal quality of the ingredients used. The farm and living wage percentage is also very admirable. I would definitely come back and recommend this place.
The staff made our visit delightful with attentive service. Loved the fresh garden produce! Many delicious menu options made choosing difficult, so we each ordered something different in order to compare. Lovely drive up the hillside. The restaurant lives up to its name, with truly grand views. A truly special birthday dinner.
It’s not bad, but for the price it should be better. My cocktail glass was sticky, pasta under seasoned and bland, and my sousvide ribeye turned well done over the sear process.
The view and fancy atmosphere is what sells the place. It’s great for a date or special occasion.
Panoramic views. Excellent foods and a great place to spend dinner. Order off-menu for the tomahawk steak. Crazy good. Wine selection is decent. Weekends has a piano player. Servers are very friendly and accommodating. Great place to bring your significant other. Drive is a bit winding, but take it slow.
Our server, Hector, was amazing! Attentive, informative, and hilarious...perfect combo for a fun evening out. Frank rocked the keys with some classic holiday tunes, and his voice was a beautiful complement. Food was delicious (we had the ribeye and filet mignon, paired with the Belle Glos Las Alturas Pinot...yummmm), sunset was unbelievable, and the company was unbeatable. Unforgettable date night—can’t wait to come back!
Great view. Were there in late December though and the fog on the road up made the drive really quite an ordeal. The road is pretty narrow, twisty, and often without a guard rail. I would consider approaching it from the South (downhill, inside lane) next time.
But the food and service were both excellent, it is a very nice restaurant.
Wonderful romantic experience!
Went here on a Christmas date, live music, awesome view, delicious steaks, esp. buffalo. Recommend!
Wonderful dinner. Bring back the cannoli!
Small portions, food quality (3 star) did not match price ($$$)
I liked the ambience and scenic view. But the food wAs not that great. We ordered vegetarian and all meals were ok and did not look fresh.
Also i had a special request sent while making reservation through Opentable to get a cake for our wedding anniversary but we did not get any.
Lastly, we asked waiter to box our food but he kept all plates stacked with the plate with food at bottom and gave us the box with that food which was lying below the stack of other plates.
I had high expectations from this place but they were not met. Only thing I enjoyed is the view.
I took my boyfriend on a date in december. We dined outside where we could see the beautiful view of the city of san jose. Indeed it is a grand view. The service was ver good, i never felt unattended. It is a bit pricy, but i think its worth all the extra things it has. They offered me a blanket just in case I got cold. With the heaters that they have I felt just right. I was wearing a dress so they really do know how to make you feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion.
We love this place! Jose was our server, and he was so friendly and attentive. We come here for almost every special occasion. The pesto chicken parmigiana is mind-blowing!
Grand view never fails to amaze us! Amazing food, staff, service, drinks & ambience
We had a very special one-year wedding anniversary. Everything went perfectly; we had a lovely cocktail at the bar, they were able to take us 30 minutes early, and our medium-rare tomahawk steak was absolutely delicious. Our friend, who frequents Grandview, gave us an amazing surprise for our night to top it off.
We plan on making this a special recurring event because of how much we loved the experience here. Thanks again.
Celebrated my one year Wedding Anniversary this past Sunday. The view was breathtaking and the food was amazing! Our server Shawn was outstanding and extremely helpful. He told us the history and background of the Restaurant. He knew all the Menu items and answered every and any questions we had. I couldn't have asked for a better server. I loved everything about my experience here and would recommend it for a special occasion/celebration.
Always a wonderful time dining at Grand View. Food is always delicious and service always professional.
I loved everything about this place including my food the view the waiter and the guy at the door playing on the piano to plus’s the best service from my server gave me the choice of the tomahawk I ordered it and it was amazing overall the best experience I’ve had at a restaurant.
The grand view is an elegant romantic restaurant with a beautiful view and great service. The waiter gave us great recommendations and we enjoyed it very much.
Been going to the Grand View for decades. Everything about it is awesome. If you live in the South Bay it’s a “must go”.
We had our 41st anniversary dinner at Grand View, which was our first time dining there. What a wonderful experience! Not cheap, but worth every penny in both food and service. I had the fettucine Sinatra - they make their own sausage, fettucine and sauce, all of which were a 10 out of 10. The service was as impeccable as the food. They say you get what you pay for and our dinner was worth everything we paid for this wonderful anniversary dinner.
Such and amazing experience for my girlfriend and I’s 5 month anniversary. Service completely outstanding!
The view is amazing!!! Definitely go there for a special occasion. The drinks were also amazing and so was the service but unfortunately the food was just ok. I don’t think it’s worth the money.
The main reason to go to GrandView is for the view. This visit there was very little view due to wildfire smoke; however, I've been to GrandView a number of times over the past 35 years and I can tell you that on a clear day/evening, the view is spectacular. This was my first visit to GrandView since its reopening after new owners took over and remodeled. The atmosphere inside is a high end and fine dining experience. Waitstaff are in tuxedos and are highly professional. Actually, all the staff are very friendly and professional, from the maitre d to the busboys. Our server, Chewy, was outstanding with a great sense of humor, and he made our visit quite festive. The Manhattans were hand crafted and fantastic. We started off with the calamari and arancine; both were super. My dining companions all had the cowboy ribeye; I had the New York. Everyone loved their ribeyes; however, my New York was a bit of a disappointment. While it was a perfect medium rare and smelled and tasted delicious, it was not at all tender (as a $47 New York should be). It just had not been aged enough. Their house made tiramisu was exceptional.
I recommend the GrandView, because, it is a wonderful dining experience, especially if the air is clear. It is worth the drive up the mountain. Just be sure to bring a lot of $$ with you.
It's a small intimate restaurant with courteous service and absolutely delicious food. Unfortunately when I went the fires had partially blocked the view; however, the outdoor patio had an absolutely gorgeous view of the city and I am sure it normally is absolutely breathtaking. The food was well prepared and featured several garden grown components (the carrots were amazing). I would recommend it for anniversary and special occasions.
Took my wife to Grand View for our one year anniversary. Made reservation a couple of days in advance with no problems. We had dinner outside to enjoy the view. They have heat lamps outside and they offer small blankets if needed. The food was great, our waiter (Victor) was very cool, and the drive was nice. Overall was a great experience.
My wife and I were celebrating our 7 year anniversary although in the distance they had fires several days ago which took away the sunset with all the smoke but we still enjoyed the view of the city from high above the weather was nice cool air and great food
My expectation was a lot more than what I experienced. I was pretty disappointed with the food, had to send my steak back and still the chef did not get it right.
One of the best food and service experiences I have ever had! 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a 5 star meal!
Great place to eat. Staff was very informative and explained dishes on the menu.
Beautiful location and the drive up the mountain is well worth the dining experience. The food was amazing and the service was excellent.
Great service, nice amniance, my plate, only so-so. Beautiful view. Overall i’ll come back.
