Juan and his coworkers provided great service and the food was excellent, especially the Items from the “Chefs Playground”
The drive is worth it! I had been meaning to try this place since I heard about it a few years ago. Glad I did. My wife and I both had the 5 course tasting menu and everything was superb! We timed our reservation so we enjoyed a beautiful sunset as well as the incredible view both in daylight and at dark. Quite spectacular. The service was exceptional with very knowledgeable and experienced waiters and staff. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion!
The staff was welcoming, and very attentive. We celebrated an anniversary and my partner wasn’t sure which steak he wanted, so our waiter explained the various cuts, and the better ways to have them prepared for best enjoyment.
The food was excellent and the ambiance was stellar.
I got really bad service. The server was very rude.
Very good. Just very expensive. No complaints. Great service.
It had been many years since going to the Grand View. Glad we made it back. New owners have been doing improvements . Food and service was very good and you can’t beat the view. We’ll return much sooner than before.
Fillet mignon was dry, not juicy and cold. Seating was a mess.
Not sure what all the fuzz was about because as far as the scenery goes, it's not as great as other people make it sound like. However, we did have great service. Our server and the other employees were very attentive and constantly would come and check in on us which was a plus. Compared to other places where they just forget about you. The food was great too. The mashed potatoes were delicious and so was the salmon. The cheesecake was not so great, but the complimentary lemon sorbet was delicious. Overall, good experience, but expect to spend a lot.
Almost all the veggies come from their own 600 acre farm across the road, talk about keeping it local! The steaks we ordered were fantastic, however the prime rib was a bit dry. Every meal we tried from the “Chef’s Playground” (his experiments) was an amazing hit. Go here for a special occasion or date night. Whether inside or outside you cannot beat that view and meal.
Food and service was awesome
This was our first time at Grand View. Our first thought was what a quaint gem. We sat on the patio, despite the enclosures the view was breathtaking. Our service was impeccable. The scallops and oysters were amazing. The lobster carbano and buffalo ribeye were excellent. The beet salad is must try. Our special occasion was an anniversary. The staff made it memorable. Thank you- job well done!
Date night with the wife.
The food was beyond amazing.
We will be coming back for sure
The food was outstanding, the service was also outstanding, our server knew all we asked about.
Our waiter was super helpful on deciding our dinner options as well with the specials. He was very convincing on the steak special which was an amazing steak. I will definitely be coming back to enjoy some good food here.
The people are super friendly and very helpful!!!
I feel the words in my vocabulary are insufficient to describe the ecstasy that one feels when you wine and dine at the Grand View.
I will highlight a few points here:
1. Please reserve your table well in advance, I don't think they allow walk-ins usually.
2. I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the view, it does get noisy but then you will lose yourself in the marvellous light show that is the 'Bay Area at Night'
3. The food in simply delicious and the quantity is more than what I would expect from a place like Grand View.
4. Contrary to what you may think, the food is not that expensive provided you don't drink alcohol. Our check for 2 was $85 without any alcohol.
5. The servers are amazing, they ensure you enjoy the meal and will go to great lengths for you.
All in all, the ambiance, the food and the drive up to Mount Hamilton constitutes a 'Perfect' date and the place is good enough for a romantic proposal as well.
Great place with a view. Food are awesome. Services are great.
Food was terrible and service was very average if not for the view and ambience i would give 1 star for this restaurant. Very overpriced and overrated place.
Sitting outside along the railing was not a great choice for seating. The plastic wind screen adds a glare and due to its exposure to the elements is no longer clear. The height of the railing and the height of the tables makes seeing the sunset very hard. I am 5’10” and the railing was perfectly at my eye level. I realize the railing has to be the height it is for code and safety reasons but the view is blocked. I would go here again but I would not take a table in the same location again.
Great place to dine, spend time looking at the views and spending time in the bar listening to the piano player.
Pricey but good
Very nice and intimate setting!! Highly recommended! Can’t wait to come back.
Fantastic! Thank you for making everything so accommodating!
What a great time.
Waiter was great, house specials were wonderful.
The view was incredible.
I took my wife to dinner at the Grand View on a Monday night. They initially sat us by the patio door and it was very cold and they kept opening/closing the door. We asked to be moved and it was no longer a problem. The food was very good - we got the 5 course tasting menu and a few cocktails/glasses of wine. However, the service was below my expectations for a restaurant like this. In addition, we didn't know they have a huge plastic cover over the patio, so the view was completely blurred.
The foods and view are awesome! Thank you.
We had a great time!! Definitely coming back again! The food was amazing!
I published a review on Yelp. Was not a great experience and it was very expensive.
I like the beautiful view. But it's too expensive for the food and service, compare with the other fancy restaurant, such as the Shadow Brook of Capitola, Santa Cruz.
Wonderful place to go for a very elegant dinner with a view
Amazing food! Wonderful service!!!! We will definitely be back!
The food, service and ambiance were all top-notch.
Timing and attentiveness of the staff was very good.
Come early to view the sunset this way you get enjoy two views - the daylight view and night/city lights view.
Prime rib was exceptional and the Dungeness crab appetizer on the chefs playground menu was very good.
Very good service and food took my wife there for her valentines day treat. Beautiful view. We spent about 3 hrs there. We will be going there again.
Great view! Service was not what it should be. It was not that busy and yet the servers where no where to be found. I had 5 customer in from out of town. Good was ok. Go for the view.
We had an absolutely perfect anniversary dinner. We were greeted so kindly from everyone, the view was beautiful, and we had the best steak, salmon, and chocolate martinis we’ve ever had. Absolutely recommend this place- the drive up is definitely worth it.
Beautiful view. Exceptional service. The soup was amazing!
Great good, awesome view, even better service. Overall great place 👍🏼 Thanks for the awesome service Hector
Pricey for what you get. Obviously the view is awesome. Their ice tea was out of the bottle and very odd tasting. The coke was pretty bad, flat. The food was above average, but definitely not worth the price they charge.
Beautiful views of sunset...the city looks magical with all the lights. The wait staff our attentive, and but not overbearing. The food is delicious and it is nice to know that they partner with farms near by too for their food. It was a wonderful experience.
I took my girlfriend to Grand View for her birthday and she loved it. The drive up the Mt. Hamilton road in the dark was challenging for her, but the view at the end was worth the adrenaline rush of the road. The food selections were very "high end", and not necessarily my favorite cuisine. But everything on the menu was right up her alley and we were very pleased at the end of the night.
