We had such a nice experience at the Grand Tour. The wait staff were very friendly, attentive and provided great advice on what to try. The food was fresh and delicious. We tried the cucumber carpaccio and the bass crudo. The vegetables (corn and tomatoes) were absolutely the surprise of the evening; well seasoned and very fresh. Even the dessert (chocolate pot de crème) was great. We will definitely be back with our service animal, who was very well cared for as well.
Celebrated two lovely ladies birthday. Have never been here before. It was fabulous. Both the cauliflower and mushroom small plates were superb. Entree equally delicious. Best lunch I’ve had in a very long time. Highly recommend Gran Tour!
Delicious endive salad.
No ambience. No music. Food taste, quality and
presentation was mediocre. Server was friendly but inexperienced.
Grand Tour was fantastic. It's exactly what you would expect from a French Bistro in the best possible way.
Great night and great meal. Super attentive service, great food, great wine and wine suggestions.
Simply amazing! The food was incredible, service was outstanding and the wine list awesome!
We ate outside in the "parklet" outdoor seating and had a lovely evening. The food was interesting and delicious; I hope that in the future they can expand the menu to include dessert. Our waitperson did an outstanding job, especially since she was the only staff I saw and had to take care of the outdoor seating area by herself. I know restaurant staffing is tough to come by right now, and I really appreciate how hard she worked to serve us. Great job!
Outside space is enjoyable, good people watching. Food is excellent, many good choices.
Foie gras and crudo small plate were delectable. Mushrooms were excellent.
The hostess was very nice. Extremely delicious food---I definitely recommend this place, the fish was especially amazing.
Very good service, and the food was delicious. We sat outside on their sidewalk terrace which was comfortable and relaxing.
The food and ambiance were amazing and every staff member took such good care of us.
I love this place! Service was outstanding and food was wonderful. Only issue was no dessert or coffee… not sure why… they ran out of French bread, and menu needs to be expanded. We had mushrooms- amazing, steak frites - amazing and sole… all terrific. Can’t wait to go again!
This was our first time at Grand Tour and it didn’t disappoint! The waitstaff was very attentive, the food was delicious and the ambiance was just right for an after work dinner.
Our server gave great food and beverage suggestions, everything was delicious. We didn’t feel rushed or hurried, thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Only drawback was no desserts!!
|Food was on point. Wine selection is good. Service was great! Will come again!
Grand Tour is a jewel of a restaurant. It is visually so beautiful and classy, and in such a pretty location on Newbury St. The waitstaff was very friendly, polite, and attentive. Wine selection was great, and the food tasty. The only suggestion I would make would be to turn down the volume on the music. Great selection, but just too loud for my taste. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
The room is all hard surfaces and though there were few people in the area where we were seated the noise level was loud.
The sweetbreads were delicious and I would return for those. But the shaved peaches were unidentifiable. The duck breast was perfectly cooked but the garnishes sounded better than the offering Artichoke Crema? Didn't know it.
My companions had the bavette with a ton of tiny French fries was good
The leg of lamb was liked by the diner but again the he was not thrilled with the sides.
But what stunned me was the cheapest paper napkins. When you are paying these prices it is an insult.
I might recommend it but with warnings.
Lovely bistro, solid execution, good win selection. We’ll go again.
Lovely staff. Excellent food. Really enjoy eating here.
We had an exceptional dinner. The staff were lovely and engaging. I'm not a big meat eater so I got the bass which was to die for. But honestly, I could have made a meal out of all the veggie sides and starters. Each one was divine. My only request is to have some French wines by the glass. Absolutely will return. Such a nice addition to the restaurant scene!
Fantastic as always! John was on the bar and took great care of us. GT is a great place to go with a group so you can try lots of dishes. I love that vegetables are featured prominently and done so well there (too often, they’re an afterthought at other restos). The wine selections are good, and the list isn’t overwhelming or too pricey. We love everyone there, too. Great food, great people.
This place looked great and we had high hopes but were very disappointed. We dined on a Friday night and there were only 2 or 3 tables of patrons which should have been our first warning. We were sad to discover there was only beer and wine, no cocktails (assuming they don't have a full license) so ordered some wine from their minimal by the glass list. Ordered the charcuterie which presented well but was slightly off and served with a bread that was so tough it couldn't even be cut with a steak knife. For our entrees, the mussles were a bit fishy and our steak was raw in the middle. They did have a special salad which was delicious but looked like it had been plated from a salad bar. At the conclusion of our meal our server informed us that they did not serve coffee or dessert (strange) and that the gratuity (20%) was already included in the bill. Needless to say, we ended up going elsewhere because we were still hungry and will not be back.
Service & food were excellent.
Food is consistently excellent. The cauliflower is not to be missed. Service is also great--everyone from the host to the servers is super helpful and welcoming. Evan (server) was a delight!
Outstanding meal. Food was outstanding , service was excellent . We enjoyed hearing several of the vegetable sides as starters , as our waitress suggested (mushrooms and corn were both excellent ). Excellent wine list . Bit surprised there was ‘t a bit more reasonable Burgundy offering, but several excellent Willamette Valley alternatives were great . One minor suggestion - adding a NA beer to the offerings as well ! But loved our meal and visit and we will return !
Grand Tour is a charming little spot on Newbury and our party of 6 enjoyed a delicious, relaxing dinner. To begin, we shared some starters and vegetable plates, and most of us got the steak frites for the entree. The food was very good and the prices were fair. Our waiter was personable, knowledgable and friendly. Our only complaint is that the narrow dining space became very loud once the room reached capacity, and we were literally screaming across the table to hear one another by the end of the evening. Despite the noise level, it was a positive dining experience overall and we would happily return for another meal.
The duck breast was sensational!! The endive salad and the bass crudo were also outstanding.
Great restaurant: good food and ambiance, great service by friendly staff.
We love this new neighborhood gem!! The steak tartar is the best I have ever had!!!
This was my second time dining at Grand Tour and the second great experience. The service at this restaurant is impressive - everyone we've interacted with has been friendly, welcoming and on the ball. The food is excellent and the menu is very accommodating for vegetarians. They also have a great outdoor setup on Newberry street. Will definitely be going back.
Shoutout to our server Candice - she was fantastic and fun to talk to!
AMAZING FOOD AND STAFF
Great food, great service, great location. Perfect for a date night!
I got vegetables. My cauliflower was delicious and the leeks were awful and should be taken off the menu or re-imagined. The cauliflower was a rainbow variety with the crunch and nuttiness of almonds, the sweetness of sultanas and the fieriness from a creamy harrisa type dip. The leeks on th other hand were terrible. I was expecting some carmelized savory notes. What I got was cold watery leeks that literally squeaked like a squeegee on glass when I bit into them. They were watery, limp and bland, but the worse offence was the overpowering mustard sauce they were drenched with.
We waited quite a while before being seated, despite staring at empty tables. It seemed like there may have been a standoff between servers or perhaps just poor communication. One came over and said our table was being readied for us, then 15 minutes later the other asked if we were waiting to be seated.
The food was outstanding.
A great dining experience..Dodd was done great. Nice dining ambiance.
Had a fabulous meal and service was outstanding. A great evening outside!!
Nice new place with open kitchen and long bar, and a casual atmosphere. The food was artfully prepared - and my striped bass perfectly cooked. I did not like what it came with, particularly - a kind of oily white bean puree with some olives and tomatoes - which sounded much better than it turned out to be. Also, both my salad and entree were topped with mounds of dill fronds, which seemed kind of ridiculous and impossible to eat. So, the chef has a great way with protein, but the accompaniments need simplification! I think their menu would be improved with some simpler choices, and perhaps a couple of specials - that way, people would return more often.
Great menu with choices that don’t make many menus.
Very well prepared and a mixture of classic and creative. Very good value.
The service was excellent as well. I will try to return on my next visit to Boston. We were a party of three and all of us were happy. Not for kids.
Also, no dessert.
