I’ve been to the restaurant four times since March. That says it all. Sarah is remarkable. In fact, all the staff including valet parking couldn’t be nicer.

Good food. Second time I have been here, need more servers. It is slow in terms of service. Wait staff is nice and polite. Just need better timing.

The food was pretty good except for their special patented steaks, which were just not good at all. The ambiance is a little too bright and lacking, especially for an art hotel, I expected it to be more swanky. Also its very very loud, so hard for a large group to have conversations.

I think this is a much needed restaurant near the symphony, Grandel, Fox, etc. Portions are large -- so sharing is definitely an option. The pasta was fantastic and the branzino was very, very good. The server brought us some unexpected and enormous popovers, which must be a signature of the restaurant. Side of brussels were cooked perfectly. A complimentary small dessert to share at the end of the meal had a strange taste and texture, but I appreciated the added bonus. It's a bit dark in there, but the booths were roomy and, overall, I really liked the atmosphere. I hope they do well because there aren't many good choices in the area where you can park ONCE, eat -- and then go to a show. There are some, but this is the best.

I have recommended it to many friends. However, the salad I ordered was impossible to eat. The vegetables were cut up
Into thin long strips. If I wanted to
Actually eat them, I would have had to do so with my fingers. Very, very disappointed. Also, the usually wonderful popovers were way overdone.

A server spilled an entire glass of water on my lap. He issued a brief apology and left. Nothing more was said or done. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this was not handled properly. I won't be back.

The food was delish, however, the service was less to be desired. I understand it was Mother's Day, but I would think that it wasn't a surprise to be busy hence Mother's Day. After sitting for over 5 minutes with no one even stopping by to say, "I'll be right with you", I had to go back to the hostess to see if we had a server that was going to be waiting on us. My husband had to go to the bar to get a refill on his soda since our server never came back after we ordered. The Manager brought our appetizer and food out. He was more attentive then our server.

Food is fantastic and ambiance is stellar! Bob Madden is a wonderful host. My only criticism would be that the servers need a bit more training. Love this place, though!

We had a 7:30 dinner reservation and our table wasn't ready yet. Not a problem. We were happy to go to the bar and have a drink while we waited. The bartender however was very rude! 8:15 rolls around and we still are not sat at our table yet despite there being MANY empty tables. We approached the hostess whom seemed to have forgotten about us and then sat us. Our server was fantastic, thankfully! We ordered dinner and drinks and had a wonderful time. However, one of our steaks ordered at Mid-rare came out well done! They did replace it, but after everyone had already finished eating. We have eaten here before and everything was top notch. Not sure what happened on this night!

Service was. Lousy. Difficult to get water service. Server was overworked not able to take care of our table. Prices were high for the food we ordered. My salmon was thin and dry. I eat the David Burke restaurant inside the Trump Hotel often on business trips to DC. I was expecting this restaurant to be similar. I will not be going back to this restaurant. The tables are oversized making it difficult for conversation. With my guests. .

Amazing food, they will valet parking which is good to know when the fox has a show that night too so you don’t have to pay $15 to park somewhere.

We had a large party of eight. We were sat in the large red room. We were grateful that it was much quieter, because the band in the main room was quite loud for a Sunday brunch. We had a long waits for our waitress, as I think she was busy in the main room and had a hard time getting to us.
I very much enjoyed my dish, but there were mixed reviews on the rest of the food ordered that Sunday.

I will definitely come back, and try dinner in the main room. While the red room is very cool, it doesn’t have the same vibe and service of the main room.

Love the bar area but restaurant in front is sooo loud! We sat in back dining room and it was better but the decor in back is not too appealing.
That being said the food was outstanding. Bison short ribs, tuna carpaccio, bacon on wire, pork chop, chicken were all delicious!!
The staff are delightful from the valet, waitress, bartender, all cheerful, and lovely!
Our waitress was new and not very well versed on the menu but she was so darn fun we did not care!

Interesting experience. Unique setting and cool bar but when you get to this price point the food and service need to be well above average. The service was great by everybody except the server because the server was busy with larger tables. The food was above average but again, at that price point you expect better. If the meal was half the cost ($100 vs $200), it would have been fine.

Overall, fair to good experience. For the price, I would expect better quality. Our server was handling at least 6 tables- and doing the best he could, but again- for this price point, the service needs to be more attentive and the food perfect. This is an owner/ management problem, not the staff’s fault. Same problems (but 100 times worse!) experienced at sister restaurant Seven Gables Inn.

Food was unique and interesting. The ambiance is great. This is the second time we went and the wait staff is friendly but can be slow or distracted at times. We plan to be back on 5/21!!

Food was good. Service was lousy. Took a while to order, couldn't find a waitress. It was a busy night,. they are relatively new and the food is good, hopefully they will work on the service issues.

This place is one of our favorites in St. Louis and our absolute top choice for dinner/drinks before or after a show at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. With an ever changing menu, we cannot say we have tasted everything, but everything we have tried has been excellent. Grand Tavern is a "must try" if you enjoy the St. Louis dining scene.

Excellent dining experience before the Fox last Sunday evening. Make a reservation on Open Table and then have a great meal before the show or symphony. Try the bacon appetizer with the popovers.

They overbooked plain and simple. There was a ton of stuff going on pre theater wise in STL and they tried to capitalize on it. I don’t blame them, but their kitchen should have been prepared. They should have had more servers. We had a 5:30 dinner reservation for 7:30 show at the fox (plenty of time for a price fix pre theater menu. It was 7:10 before our entrees came out. We litterally were inhaling our food. We were stressed and never received our dessert. They said come back after the show for dessert. In theory that works. In reality it was late and we just needed to get home to our son and babysitter. So we paid for a dessert we didn’t have. And the whole thing was just stressful. The food was great! Would have loved to have tried the dessert.

Had an early reservation before the Fox and we were nearly late for the performance. We had to ask several times for our main course and then had to ask for the check. Everyone, wait staff and others, was running around but nothing was getting done. Food was OK, but not spectacular. The beet salad seems to lack something, we could not figure out what. The pasta was excellent, the Branzino was nicely crispy, but was markedly over salted. The pop-over was a nice touch.

The food is pretty good. The service could have been better. I had to get the waitress’s attention so that we could order, and one dish was missed entirely. But the food was good.

Every part of the experience is handcrafted from the artwork on the walls to the plating of the food. The food was rich, elegant, delectable. Enjoyed every taste from the wine and popovers to entrees and sides.

Waiting to get menus and drinks was ridiculous. Once we ordered our food things were pretty quick. I want this place to do well but they have to step up their service. At least get the water poured.
