I nearly cried over the deviled eggs. I’ve never made a review like this: food was to die for. We split the sirloin and it was perfect. The sauce was the bomb.
We were early for our reservation and seated immediately anyway! SO nice!
We'd never been there before and asked our server for her opinion. She was so knowledgeable of the menu and we both ordered something she said was her personal favorite. BOTH DELICIOUS!
We will be back!!
The waiter was awful. We waited at our table for 10
minutes before our drink order was taken. It was still before 6pm, so we inquired about happy hour. We were flatly told there was no happy hour because it was Valentine’s Day. At no point were we offered bread. We were given the wrong plates and were not offered the chance to taste our wine before it was poured. My lobster tail was dry. My wife’s pasta was not as described on the menu. I have never complained on Open Table before, and none of these issues would have been complaint worthy in isolation. All together, though, and combined with the price tag, the experience was enough of a turn off that we won’t be back.
Two of us had the prime rib tacos and they were so spicy we could hardly eat them - we both had heartburn for the rest of the evening. Our server was very nice. I don't think Grand Street is as good as it used to be.
Love this place. Always reliable, great bites, good service and staff, lovely atmosphere and reasonable prices. Pretty much can’t go wrong. Always nice to have a booth in the front.
Service and food are both great. I highly recommend the Smoked Pork Chop with mac -n-cheese or Chicken two ways with mashed potatoes.
Seemed like everything had slipped a few notches since we were there last.....probably six or so months ago. It was OK but not great.
Fresh food choices, yummy.
Food was excellent as always. Our appetizer showed was served after our salad and we were still enjoying it when our entree showed up. They need to slow down the service to allow for the appetizer to show up first. Server was not very attentive.
Service was excellent. Lettuce in the Caesar salad did not look fresh. The chicken in the salad was really really good. Have eaten at grand street many times and food has always been top notch. Think this was just an aberration.
Relaxed and comfortable dining room. I will definitely return. Service was friendly and the food was amazing!
One of our favorites, they never disappoint. Hope the continue to serve quality food.
It was nice.
Delicious meal and wonderful evening.
Birthday lunch. No special recognition of that.
Many open tables and we were set by the kitchen and not the best available table. It was very loud and noisy.
Grand Street Cafe
What you need to know-
Price- $96- To include 2) cocktails, 2) glasses of wine, 1) Cesar salad and 2) entries.
Food- Slightly different menu where you could choose a small side and salad or go from soup to nuts. High quality ingredients, beautifuly prepared and seasoned. Presentation is nicely done. Many items made in house using local produce and farms. The home made butternut ravioli in brown butter, excellent. The 6 oz. filet with superior mashed potatoes, also excellent.
Service- Casual, friendly, attentive and timely presentation.
Ambiance- Open kitchen with quite a few chefs cooking up delights. Contemporary, hip setting, clean, simple, good noise control, lighting and room to enjoy.
Our Experience- Very favorable, the food was truly excellent. Setting is lovely, a very nice experience and excellent value. Would definitely return.
I met up with 2 girlfriends who I used to work with for lunch. We were seated in a cushy booth just past the bar. The seating was comfortable and not noisy at all. The food is always good but this time I tried the prime rib tacos and they were amazing! Our server was the best part of the meal. On my check it says Lamb, I'm assuming that is his last name. He gave us a generous amount of time to look over the menu and catch up with each other. We also sat for a good amount of time after we were done eating and he was very considerate and still an excellent server even though we were talking up his table. Thanks to our excellent server for an amazing lunch experience!!!
Always a great meal! Wonderful service!
Very accommodating to our group. Great service and everyone in the group loved their meal
Food and Service was great!! Although we had reservations we were sat by a huge, loud, party in the event room so the ambience/experience wasn’t nice this time!
Great service and food
I'm sorry to write just a fair review. I have taken part in several restaurants in KC during Restaurant Week. All of them had better selections, i.e., 3 appetizers, 3 main courses, and 2 desserts....even at lunch time. I didn't dislike what I chose; ,,,it was just okay; however, I was sad that the Restaurant Week lunch menu didn't include dessert. Our waiter (Michael) was very good...he was probably the best thing about our dining experience.
Grand Street is one of Kansas City's gems.......always good and reliable. The management is very helpful and handles requests accurately and in a friendly manner. The outdoor patio is delightful in the season not the winter!
I had the pork chop which was over-cooked. Very disappointing.
Continues to be one of the best in KC. Quality food & service is one of the best. You can’t go wrong here! You’ll be happy you decided to dine at Grand Street!
Food was outstanding and our server was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Great experience. Thanks Grand Street!!!!
We had a disappointing brunch at Grand Street Sunday. We had a 115 reservation, brunch runs until 2:00. Our server seemed somewhat annoyed when we sat down, was not the least attentive. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was good. The buffet was full of empty or partially filled serving platters. If you are serving until 2:00 have food available till the end. I got up and poured water for our table at one point because no staff was around or interested. Our entrees were fine, food was hot- served by a manager- our server came 10 minutes after food arrived to check on us.
Really poor experience!
The Grand Street Cafe is really one of Kansas City's best restaurants. The food is always great and, if you need it, they have a great selection of gluten free options (including dessert!).
Solid food and service, as always
Grand Street is always wonderful. About half way through out dinner s large noisy group was seated beside us.... that was s little annoying, but food and service was good!!
I have dined at Grand Street for dinner many times over the years and hosted client events there as well. Always a great experience with attentive and knowledgeable staff and great food. This was my first business lunch there and it was once again a great experience. It was a quieter lunch crowd the day after New Year's so I suspect it can get a bit busier. Both of us had salads and the food was tasty and went beyond the basic protein on lettuce combinations.
I continue to recommend Grand Street.
Always a great experience.
We usually love the brunch at Grand Street. We go on Sundays and for years we have enjoyed New Years Day brunch with friends. This year was different. Instead of the buffet line with the usual foods and then a breakfast order from the menu to boot, it was all buffet. Good in theory, not in practice. The food was tasty but cold, as in the cold items were cold and the items meant to be warm or hot were also cold. The cinnamon rolls that we love (normally served at you table warm) were ice cold. The only thing remotely warm was my hot tea. The brunch menu also stated that they would have bread pudding. I love their bread pudding, the desserts were tasty- but NO bread pudding in sight. I am not quite ready to count them out. We will be back for their regular Sunday brunch, and if they can figure out how to keep buffet food warm- we might not have to change a long standing tradition and find another place for NYD brunch.
Excellent food selections
My husband and I love Grand Street Cafe's patio for summer dining. Since we have recently been spending our summers in Alexandria and Arlington, VA, we decided to Grand Street Cafe for indoor seating on New Year's Eve. My husband had a greens salad with a fillet of salmon on top. I went with a New Year's Eve special and am still thinking about how delicious it was - short rib filled pasta with goat cheese and mushrooms and a wedge of short rib to center it all in a mushroom broth. New Year's balloons made it a festive atmosphere.
Their bread and dipping sauce with a glass of wine is a meal all on its own! Service was excellent; sadly, I never caught our server's name but she was a sheer delight! Love the ambiance and the food here! All around great find!
Enjoyed. But I know the people next to us had a bad experience. Then their same server vacuumed next to us while eating almost pushing her other table out. It was weird. But I did learn about electric bissels. Was surprised the pork chop no longer comes with a veg, that was disappointing. But the tacos app is AMAZING!! I almost bit the entire inside of my cheek off I was enjoying the flavors so much!!
Everything was great. The server, Michael, was very friendly and attentive. Our meals ( cheeseburger and buttermilk chicken sandwich)were delicious.
I ordered the trout which I have had for dinner at the Lenexa location and enjoyed very much. We were surprised that the lunch portion is a very small piece of fish. I asked the server if this was correct and she replied it was. It tasted very good but was just too small and $17 for such a small portion did not make me happy. The server did not care and did not give us good service.
All prior experiences at both Grand Street locations have been excellent. My friend and I love this restaurant but we were quite disappointed with this experience.
Met a friend in town from Chicago. Wanted a nice atmosphere, great service & solid food. Grand Street delivered in all categories! Joe was our server & he was perfect!
